Durham Farmers' Market
This market is only 10 minutes away in downtown and full of the best produce, crafts, and more. Held every Saturday from 8-12am (10-12am from December - March) this is a great place to go to see Durham in action.
Open in temperate seasons on Saturdays from 8:00-Noon, and 10:00-Noon in winter, this is the spot to go get your fresh produce, gourmet prepared foods, local crafts, pretty flowers, and a glimpse of how Durhamites start their weekend. Sometimes there’s live music, mostly of the folk persuasion. A…
Great place to find crafts and locally produced foods. Also, great for people watching.
Open Saturday mornings (8am in warm season, 10am in cold season), the farmers market sells a lot of art, jewelry, pottery, and stuff that's not just food. There is a small playground right next to it with slides and climbing, as well as a giant lego wall and open grassy field.
A Durham institution! Vendors include local creameries (Boxcarr, Celebrity Dairy, Chapel Hill Creamery), myriad farms (Harland Creek is my fave), Mead and Cider purveyors, fresh flowers, and delicious local and organic meats, poultry, and eggs (be sure to check out Fickle Creek Farm for odd cuts)…
“Casual bar in the same building as the brewery itself (you can tour during the daytime). Fullsteam often hosts trivia nights and community events and serves small plates, too. Recommended: A wide selection of arcade and board games.”
“There are three locations of this creative coffee shop and roastery in Durham, but the closest is straight down Geer St. Try one of their creative drinks, including a wide selection of hot chocolates. This is a lovely place to sit and take in the Durham scene. After your coffee, you can stroll around the neighborhood and visit Fullsteam Brewery, browse local goods at The Mothership, or walk to the Durham Farmers’ Market. Pro-Tip: arrive early on Saturday to beat the line. Recommended: The Dr. Durham Latte, or check out the Lakewood location for made-to-order churros!”
“A creatively restored mid-century hotel, The Durham is a great spot to take in the city skyline and enjoy a drink. Take the elevator to the top floor and look at Durham from above. The head bartender is one of the best in town and the menu is delicious. You can also get dinner and creative snacks, too. Recommended: Dessert Cocktails”
