Slide on your butt down a natural waterslide into the coldest water you have ever touched. You really haven’t experienced the area until you have done Sliding Rock. Very crowded, so bring your patience (along with sturdy shorts!)

Looking or an exhilarating experience? Join the thousands of children and adults who slip and slide down Sliding Rock falls in Pisgah National Forest, about 8 miles from Brevard. Take a towel and a change of clothing, and be prepared to wait your turn to ride the chilly water (50-60 degrees!) down…

A great day trip. A local favorite. A rite of passage for all new comers.

“This is an easy walk with a great waterfall view. It is located basically just off the road. If you want to see a beautiful waterfall without having to hike, this is it!”

“This is a favorite, moderately-difficult day hike with a killer payoff. This 5-ish mile out-and-back takes you to the top of looking-glass rock. It's probably a bit much for younger kids. Going during the week or earlier in the morning will help avoid the crowds and get your doggo some time off-leash.”

“Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 422.8 Devil’s Courthouse, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, presides over some of the most spectacular views in the Blue Ridge Mountains. From the top of Devil’s Courthouse at 5,720 feet, visitors can see into South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee in a 360-degree panorama. Devil’s Courthouse may have received its name because of the sinister aspect of the rock formation, or because, as legend holds, the devil held court in the cave that lies beneath the rock. In Cherokee lore, this cave is the private dancing chamber and dwelling place of the slant-eyed giant, Judaculla. Devil’s Courthouse provides habitat for a variety of rare, high-altitude plants. Some of these alpine species may be remnants from the last glacial period. Hawks, ravens, vultures, eagles, and peregrine falcons ride the hot air currents that rise from the valley.”
