Carlsmith Beach Park
Carlsmith Beach park is a great place for seeing Sea Turtles. The water can be a bit cold though sometimes as there is a mixture for cold fresh water mixing with the warmer salt water due to underwater springs.
Local park & picnic area featuring lagoons for swimming, snorkeling & sea turtle-watching.
A favorite beach in Hilo. Really unique and comfortable, with open lawns and lava rock shores that have several friendly approaches. Chances are high of meeting sea turtles here. Just be careful and gentle with them, minimizing contact and allowing their path. Locals may scold you otherwise.
“Closest black sand beach. If you're lucky, you might spot some sea turtles. Also a good place for snorkeling.”

“Excellent breakfast food. The chef has a farm where he grows a large amount of the food he uses at the restaurant. Fresh fruit is often available to buy by the box full.”
“Uncle Robert's in Kalapana on Wednesday night is a festive gathering with music, a bar, food vendors, entertainment, a farmer's market and much more. Wednesday nights from 5PM - 9PM.”
