Overton Park is a large 342-acre public park. It includes a walking/running/biking trail and dog park.
3 blocks from house, huge park with large open green space and extensive covered trails for hiking and running.
Memphis has a top zoo - they have pandas!, a wonderful museum called Brooks Museum, a golf course, and is near Cooper Young district.
My favorite outdoor space in Memphis. Plenty of paved trails for walking/biking and a huge playground and pond. Great for kids.
Overton Park is within walking distance from the Magnolia House making a great addition to any stay. Start you day off with a run or walk thru the park or simply find a quite spot and enjoy the beautiful parks surroundings.
“The Brooks museum of art happens to be the largest and oldest museum in the state of Tennessee and within its vicinity it includes the Cafe Brooks, the Brooks museum of art, a grand terrace and the Holly Court Garden. The museum contains 29 galleries showcasing paintings from the Italian Renaissance, Baroque and 20th century artists. It also has a research library of 5,000 volumes and an auditorium. The museum houses an impressive collection of English portraits by Gainsborough, Lawrence and Reynolds as well as contemporary artists such as Carroll Cloar, a Memphis native.”
“Great family experience, lots of local eateries within walking distance from the zoo.”
“o where the locals go on sunny days (Memphis has plenty!) and enjoy the outdoors at Shelby Farms Park. One of the largest urban parks in the nation, Shelby Farms offers miles of paved and unpaved trails, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boating, a state-of-the-art playground, a Go Ape! Adventure ropes course, horseback riding, The Kitchen restaurant and a herd of buffalo. What else could you ever wish for?”
“Take a trip to Soulsville in southern Memphis to visit the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Built on the site of Stax Records, the museum offers a fun and music-filled look at the origins of Memphis soul focusing on legends like Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, and Booker T. & the M.G.'s. You can also get a close-up look at Isaac Hayes’ gold-plated, fur-lined Cadillac.”
