Mission Chinese Food

Mission Chinese has a rep for being too spicy, too loud, too dark. And that’s precisely why I keep going back! The dim lighting and fun dragon dance decor lend an ambience that’s unique to this place. And as a lover of intensely seasoned and spiced food, this just hits the mark for me, whether I go for a full meal or just pre-night-out snacks. The plentiful vegan options are clearly marked. I like to order the thrice-cooked bacon, which is fantastic when made vegan. I also like the mapo tofu, the steamed market greens, and the fried rice. Portions are generous, perfect for sharing!
Trendy crowds line up for the imaginative Chinese eats at this casual, nationally known destination. No reservations, be prepared to wait.
My favorite restaurant in the Bay Area - eclectic take on Chinese food. Thrice cooked bacon is a MUST
“Millennials love to stand in lines. Go mid-morning on weekdays to avoid long lines. But, the food is well worth it! Riches beyond your wildest dreams: butter-golden pains au chocolat, cappuccinos with ferns drawn in dense foam and croque monsieurs turbo-loaded with ham, two kinds of cheese and béchamel. Don't be dismayed by the inevitable line out the door – it moves fast – but be aware that lolling in Dolores Park is the only possible post-Tartine activity.”
“One of our favorite pizzeria! The line may be long so go during non peak dinning time, or put your name there and walk around have a drink!”
“Beautiful and spacious, is one the favorite coffee shops to make a stop while strolling through Valencia Street.”
“The Valencia Room: Live music, DJs, and bar in a historic dive bar location (previously the Elbo Room).”
