Set in Precambrian dolomite rock, which was first laid down about 3800 million years ago, when Africa was still part of Gondwana. The caves themselves formed about 240 million years ago

观景台
“The Blyde River Canyon (now officially known as the Motlatse Canyon) is considered one of the largest canyons on Earth and may be the largest ‘green canyon’ - it has a particularly lush subtropical covering. The Blyde River Canyon Reserve extends along the Blyde River Canyon's winding path, which at every turn offers more and more impressive views over sheer edges dropping 800m into the riverbed. All five of South Africa's primates can be see in the The Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. The somango monkey, nocturnal greater and lesser bushbabies, chacma baboons and vervet monkeys are all present. Hippopotamus and crocodile live in and around the rivers and wetlands of Swadini Dam, as do waterbirds and otters. Almost every type of habitat that attracts birds is found in the The Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve and all three South African species of Loerie can be found in the reserve.”

Natural Feature
“About Bridal Veil Falls Along Mpumalanga’s scenic Panorama Route, which is known for the forestry industry and its many breath-taking waterfalls, lies the particularly pretty Bridal Veil Falls. This part of South Africa is green and verdant, with natural attractions that rival some of the finest in the country, thanks to their diversity and the abundance of fauna and flora. Bridal Veil Falls boasts a 70 metre drop, and visitors look on in awe and wonder as the power of water is seen in its rawest form. Still, the misty spray and elegant thundering are mysteriously and undeniably beautiful too. It is this contradiction that continues to lure people to the falls to be a part of their unadulterated majesty. The falls are a mere six kilometres from the little town of Sabie, which is known for its relaxed vibe and pretty surrounds. There is a path through indigenous forests between the parking lot and the Bridal Veil Falls, enabling visitors to see the beauty of the landscape from different facets and perspectives before reaching the falls. This walk is less than a kilometre long and is most rewarding for its beauty, flowers, streams, ferns, and photo opportunities. However, it is challenging in places, and should not be tackled by the elderly, infirm, or very little ones. A very small entrance fee is required and public ablutions are available. The area around the waterfall may be quiet and serene, but there is certainly no shortage of fun things to do and see. These include mountain biking, white-water rafting, hiking, rock climbing, abseiling, bird watching, and fly fishing. The love for the South African and African cultures is also evident in the many curios, arts, crafts, and mementoes on sale in the region. This assures tourists of the opportunities to get wonderful keepsakes for their friends and family back home.”
