My favorite place to do a little hike. It's a designated wilderness area, but with easy trails and great historical markers.
Easily accessible from DC, this is a great place for a short/easy hike to enjoy nature. Nice views as you cross the bridge and lots of shade as you hike around the island. Great activity for families!
“Built in 1915, this is a beautiful, columned memorial dedicated to Abraham Lincoln. It’s situated at the end of a large reflecting pool that overlooks the WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument.”
“Outstanding year-round, but spectacular when the cherry trees are blossoming. ”
“The Sculpture Garden is marvelous - during the summer there is live jazz every Friday evening and during the winter they turn it into an ice skating rink!”
“An after-hours visit to the National Zoo during ZooLights, which illuminates the zoo with more than 500,000 environmentally-friendly LEDs, animated light installations, live music and more. Bid good cheer to various animals on display. ZooLights runs Nov. 29 – Jan. 1 (closed Dec. 24, 25 & 31). ”
“The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts is a must to visit, its designed architecture, spectacular views, its Opera House, classic ballet and modern dance, Broadway musicals. At the pic one of mu sisters visiting some months ago.”
