Perfect place to sit outside in the spring and summer months and have a cold beverage. Definitely pay the couple of bucks for the snack plate with 3 of your choosing: swedish fish, goldfish, pretzels, wasabi peas. Some of the best beer in town!
Delicious local brewery with tons of outdoor seating. They usually have a food truck onsite.
Lots of outdoor seating and rotating food trucks make this a great low-key option for a night out.
“A creatively restored mid-century hotel, The Durham is a great spot to take in the city skyline and enjoy a drink. Take the elevator to the top floor and look at Durham from above. The head bartender is one of the best in town and the menu is delicious. You can also get dinner and creative snacks, too. Recommended: Dessert Cocktails”
“Casual bar in the same building as the brewery itself (you can tour during the daytime). Fullsteam often hosts trivia nights and community events and serves small plates, too. Recommended: A wide selection of arcade and board games.”

“Like music! Find a good show here. Drinks and food are at your disposal. Eat in or outside—either way, the vibe is cool and you meet all types of people. Love this place for a night out. Just be yourself.”
“There's way too much to love about this place. We consider this one of our neighborhood bars and frequent it often. This is also home to the famous handmade Alley Twenty Six Tonic that you'll find making an appearance in many other bars and restaurants throughout the city. Must-trys: 1) outdoor seating in the famous "alley", 2) Alley Burger, 3) Bang Bang Cauliflower, 4) Muddled Old Fashioned.* *You can also order all sorts of provisions and things from their online market.”
“There are three locations of this creative coffee shop and roastery in Durham, but the closest is straight down Geer St. Try one of their creative drinks, including a wide selection of hot chocolates. This is a lovely place to sit and take in the Durham scene. After your coffee, you can stroll around the neighborhood and visit Fullsteam Brewery, browse local goods at The Mothership, or walk to the Durham Farmers’ Market. Pro-Tip: arrive early on Saturday to beat the line. Recommended: The Dr. Durham Latte, or check out the Lakewood location for made-to-order churros!”
