Echo Park Lake
LA put its shoulder into restoring this park and there are lotus flowers, paddle boats, and tons of deja vu moments because an awful lot was shot here. There's the OK Go video End Love. Nosy Jake Gittes photographing Hollis Mulwray in Chinatown. My favorite is Gilligan's Island: Some "uncharted island" exteriors are actually the lake's tiny island. Walking distance away is Brite Spot, a great diner that's open late for tofu hash and soyrizo scramble. It’s served as a backdrop for The Neon Demon, Netflix's Love, Stand-Up Guys with Christopher Walken and Al Pacino, and the FX romantic comedy You're The Worst.
A stunning lake that is great to walk around, people watch, or take a spin in a swan boat (they light up at night)!
The "jewel" of the neighborhood. Very walkable, lovely park. Great for views of downtown LA, dog walking, swan paddle boats, jogging, photography, and more.
A really lovely place to have a picnic, read a book or walk your dog. There are Pedal Boats [fun for a couple] Picnic Tables and Walking Paths around the lake. Very local spot in the "hip" neighborhood of Echo Park.
Cool place to hang out, paddle boat around the lake in giant swan, walk, picnic or try some local food. Go there in the evenings to see the swans lit up and take a boat ride at night!
“Sort of like a smaller version of Whole Foods, super convenient, nice produce selection and a decent selection of prepared foods which is nice if you're on the go and looking for a quick bite.”
“Echo Parks most famous music venue. It’s small and intimate with a decent sized patio area outside. When The Rolling Stones played a surprise show here it basically shut down Echo Park for the night. ”
“Mohawk Bend is located in a retrofitted 100-year-old silent movie theater and is one of my favorite places to eat and hang out with friends or just go by myself and have a pizza during Happy Hour. They have a ton of California craft beers & a delicious locally sourced American menu with options for all diets. They have a great Happy Hour during ~ Mon – Fri: 3 PM – 7 PM ~ Fri – Sat: 11 PM – Close ~ Sun – Thurs: 10 PM – Close. There is usually a wait during peak hours so I would recommend making a reservation unless you're visiting during HH. ”
“If your planning on ordering their famous deep dish pizza call ahead because it takes 45 minutes to make. The bread pudding is also out of control good. Cozy, family style vibe. Gets busy most nights but worth the wait. ”
