“For more than seven centuries, the Habsburg empire was ruled from the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Today, the Gothic Imperial Chapel, where the Vienna Boys’ Choir performs during High Mass on Sunday, is a remnant of the Imperial Palace during the Middle Ages. In the middle of the city center, you can marvel at the splendor and magnificence that made up the everyday life of the former imperial family on a visit of the private chambers and staterooms. Numerous museums and collections represent the imperial family’s passion for art. The Imperial Palace, which until 1918 was inhabited by the imperial family, was originally a castle built in the thirteenth century, which was extended to a splendid residence in accordance with the increasing power of the Habsburgs and the expansion of their realm. Today, the Imperial Palace houses the office of the Federal President as well as an important congress center and numerous art collections.”

“The former summer residence of the Habsburgs impresses with imperial ceremonial rooms and magnificent gardens. Maria Theresa, Emperor Franz Joseph, Empress Elisabeth and others once resided here. Schönbrunn Palace is one of Europe's most beautiful Baroque complexes and has been in the possession of the Habsburgs since 1569. The wife of Emperor Ferdinand II, Eleonore von Gonzaga, had a pleasure palace built on the site in 1642 and called the property "Schönbrunn" for the first time. The palace and garden complex created from 1696 onwards following the siege of Vienna was complete redesigned under Maria Theresa after 1743. Today, due to its historical significance, its unique layout and magnificent furnishings, the palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site.”

“The Hundertwasser House in Vienna unmistakably bears the signature of the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, whose real name was Friedrich Stowasser. The exterior facade of the Hundertwasser House in Vienna, decorated with many bright colors, magically attracts attention. Anyone who lives in the Hundertwasserhaus also has the right to design the facade around the windows according to their own taste. More than 200 trees and shrubs on the balconies and roof terraces make the Hundertwasserhaus a green oasis in the middle of the city. The Hundertwasser House can only be viewed from the outside. The Hundertwasser Village, which can be visited, is located directly opposite the Hundertwasser House. It was created in 1990-1991 from a tire workshop. The artist designed his only shopping center with a "village square", a bar and numerous shops in the typical Hundertwasser style. Kunst Haus Wien Like the Hundertwasserhaus, the Kunst Haus Wien was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, just a few minutes' walk from the Hundertwasserhaus. As is typical for Hundertwasser houses, there are hardly any straight lines here. In addition to a permanent Hundertwasser exhibition, changing exhibitions by other artists are shown on around 1,600 square meters of exhibition space.”

“The Albertina not only has the largest and most valuable graphical collections in the world, with works such as Dürer’s “Hare” and Klimt's studies of women. Its latest exhibition collection presents masterpieces of the Modern, spanning Monet to Picasso and Baselitz. As the largest Habsburg residential palace, the Albertina dominates the southern tip of the Imperial Palace on one of the last remaining fortress walls in Vienna. The collection, which was established in 1776 by Duke Albert of Saxony-Teschen, a son-in-law of Empress Maria Theresia, comprises over one million prints and 60,000 drawings. Famous pieces such as Dürer's "Hare" and his "Hands folded in prayer", Rubens' studies of children and masterpieces by Schiele, Cézanne, Klimt, Kokoschka, Picasso and Rauschenberg are displayed in the rotating exhibitions. On permanent display in the Albertina's new exihibition collection are the most exciting art movements of the last 130 years: from French impressionism to German expressionism to the Russian avant garde and the present. Monet's "Water Lily Pond", Degas' "Dancers" and Renoir's "Girl" can be gazed at in wonder, as can paintings by Beckmann, Macke, Chagall, Malevich, Rothko, Rainer and Katz. In addition, the Albertina has an architecture and photographic collection (incl. Helmut Newton, Lisette Model), whose works are displayed in special shows.”
