Jimmy C's Adelaide street art
A childhood in Adelaide was pivotal to the success of Jimmy C (aka James Cochran), one of Australia's most successful artists. This Adelaide street art walk focuses on his works, revealing the stories and inspiration behind them. Discover how he crafted his unique drip-style talent, and see how it blends effortlessly in collaboration with other South Australian artists. This walk largely contains information told to your guide Katina from Jimmy C himself. It allows you to have an understanding of what directly influences and inspires one of Australia's most intriguing artists. Please note that this tour features images of, and references to, a deceased First Nations person.
What is fritz? A frog cake? Things that make any Adelaide local (including myself) proud. Take a walk with me to find out about these and other South Australian foods and where to find them. As we walk through Adelaide, you'll learn about quirky culinary histories and how these foods have shaped a small but important part of Adelaide's identity (as well as mine!). You'll sample chocolate, nuts, iced coffee and fritz as well as eat a hot lunch from Skala Bakery in the Adelaide Central Market (a pie/pasty etc of your choice). You'll walk away with a surprise dessert and extra goodies to leave feeling like a local, as well as purchases you may make along the way! Other things to note: - For child bookings, iced coffee will be substituted for a flavoured milk or juice unless requested otherwise - This is not suitable for gluten free/vegans. Vegetarians can be catered for, the request must be made on booking. It is suited well to sweet-tooths :) - The Haigh's Chocolates store we meet at is on Grenfell Street at the start of Adelaide Arcade. Please note: this is NOT the Haigh's on the corner of Rundle Mall and King William Street. - Please note that while I don't require any proof of COVID vaccination, we are subject to any mandates of places we visit. At the time of writing, this tour is unaffected, but circumstances can change at any time. Thanks for your understanding!
On this walk we will see the imposing Parliament House, the oldest continually used Government House in Australia, and iconic memorials dedicated both to war and some of our noted citizens and influencers. This cultural tour also takes in the State Library, the old Destitute Asylum, the old Police Barracks, the Art Gallery of SA and the University of Adelaide and encapsulates the very best that the city has to offer. We start at Parliament House, which took 50 years to build before moving onto our first War Memorial erected in 1904 and the adjacent imposing Government House. A walk along North Terrace takes us past Prince Henry Gardens peppered with memorials dedicated to noted South Australians as well as an important early explorer, Matthew Flinders. The striking heritage architecture in Adelaide is notable, making a great contrast with the more contemporary modern buildings. Some of the older heritage style buildings date right back to the 1860's and have been well preserved for our viewing. We then pass by the iconic main War Memorial dedicated initially to the Great War and then visit the beautiful State Library of South Australia with its 1880's historic Mortlock Wing. A little visited area in behind North Terrace is the old Destitute Asylum and the old Mounted Police Barracks, which provoke many stories relating to crime, degradation and the human struggle to survive. Other things to note Easy paced 90 minute to 2 hour walking tours with the experience of a local guide. Starting and finishing points within reach of transport and cafes, shops etc. Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions as well as good walking shoes. Hats for warm days as well as water.

Life in Port Adelaide, then and now
Discover Port Adelaide's fascinating stories and relaxed pub vibe on this walking tour with an Adelaide local. Known by early settlers as Port Misery, we'll share the stories that shaped this vital heritage place and understand how it functions today. From swamps and mosquitoes to a shopping hub, Port Adelaide has seen it all! We will discuss how beautiful architecture, intriguing tales and modern street art all give the Port its unique appeal. Visiting a local business housed in a century-old building is an important part of our story - we'll meet the owner and get their perspective. And we'll also appreciate port life as the locals did - and still do - by visiting a pub for a drink. The Port has had its ups and downs over its existence. You'll leave with better understanding of the hardships of settlement, and how the area continues to grow in modern times!
