Lots to take in on the Qualla Boundary. Visit the Cherokee Museum, The Qualla Arts and Crafts center across the road from the museum is a real look into the types things the Cherokee people make. Cherokee is also the gateway into the Smoky Mountains area that lends access to Clingman's Dome, New Found Gap, Mt LeConte and other points of interest. Don't forget to stop at the visitors center on your way in for information and to visit the home stead. You'll likely see some Elk there too!

This is a historic Cherokee Indian mound. It was a former settlement of the Cherokee and part of the mound that held their council house still remains. It's also a great place to walk and bike, especially if you have young children. Be aware of your surroundings because the Elk are very active in this area. Do not approach them!

The Road to Nowhere: a major point of interest and Swain county history. You can walk through the long tunnel that was bore through the mountain and then access multiple back country hiking trails on the other side.

Visit this site to see the Smoky Mountains from a birds eye view. Absolutely worth the walk up! Do a little reading up to make sure the walk to the observation tower it for you! It's just under a mile and pretty steep, but paved.

A several hour hike up the Appalachian Trail from Wesser Creek in the Nantahala Gorge. Epic hike and views at the top! From Bryson City, take 74 West into the Nantahala Gorge. Turn left at the Exxon gas station onto Wesser Creek Rd. Follow Wesser Creek Rd to the end. Park and hit the trail!

A bucket list type of experience. Moderate to hard to extreme hiking with HIGH reward at the end. Not for beginners and most certainly requires fore-thought and planning. If you are into this kind of hiking, it will rank right up with some of the best you've done!

The Deep Creek Horse Trail is located in Deep Creek National Park, just minutes from downtown Bryson City. This trail is one of the designated trails for horse back riding in the park. It links up with many other trails along the way. One of real interest is Longsome Pine trail and Overlook. It's about 3 miles up the horse trail and has sweeping views of the Smokies and Bryson City area. Locals hike up here to watch the fireworks! But don't expect to see a lot of people on this trail in Deep Creek as It is a lesser traveled path.
