A Dylan McGrath restaurant, the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. Truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for body and soul. www.rusticstone.ie

Drinks & Nightlife

My Favourite – Bar - Occupies two Georgian Townhouses on Leeson Street, has a feeling of relaxed glamour, luxury and ease throughout. Great older school tunes. Best areas for drinks are ‘outside’, well covered & heated, but classed as outdoors for smokers! Also has separate nightclub. Perfect for older ager groups! www.housedublin.ie

Entertainment & Activities

No trip to Dublin is complete without a visit. The Guinness Storehouse is an impressive building: the core of the building is shaped like a giant pint glass and consists of seven floors. Along each floor, you get to see how Guinness is made. The top floor, which holds the Gravity Bar, is the most fun. You get a complimentary pint of Guinness and the most spectacular view of Dublin, which is worth the admission price alone Easiest way to get here is to walk along the river on the south side and walk up Watling Street. It’s Ireland’s number 1 visitor attraction and the spiritual home of Guinness. A 20-minute walk from the apartment. Book online to avoid the queues. www.guinness-storehouse.

Parks & Nature

This park is the largest urban enclosed park in Europe and is more than twice the size of New York’s Central Park. As with all outdoor pursuits in Ireland, the rain can often stop play. But on a good day, this park is a real treat. The park is also home to the residence for the President of Ireland, Áras an Uachtaráin, as well as Dublin’s zoo.

Arts & Culture

This museum is a must for history buffs. Kilmainham Gaol tells part of the story of Irish history. The leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising were executed here while several Irish nationalist leaders were imprisoned here over the years. Although this is located about a 15-minute bus ride from the city centre, you can make a day of it by visiting the nearby Irish Museum of Modern Art. http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/dublin/kilmainhamgaol/
