Getting Around
For those arriving by car, follow the signs to "Parque Nacional Tortuguero", which pop up along Route 32 San Jose to Limon. They will bring you to Guapiles or Cariari and from there on to a place called La Pavona. You will leave the car in the secured parking lot ($ 10 per day) and then get on one of the little boats, that will bring you to Tortuguero.
This is also your very first sightseeing tour and it comes at a bargain price. Keep your camera handy!
The public boats leave La Pavona at 7:30 am, 11:00 am, 1 pm and 4:30 pm. Return boats leave at 5:30 am, 9 am, 11 am and 3 pm ($4 per person). They are usually on time, unless the bus is delayed. So if you are passing the bus on the way, ch
