Perhaps no words are necessary. Very close to my house by car. Don't miss the Mulberry Row tour of the former slave quarters and histories of each slave's part in the design, building and running of Monticello. Also, garden tour is amazing -- all plants to the originals in Jefferson's daily diary.
AND, the Monticello Trail:
There is a 4 mile walking trail. Park in Monticello lot and find trail near Monticello Guest Services. Will then have access to restrooms & cafe before or after your walk....

Historic segregated school now houses key cultural spaces just 5 blocks from my house: the heritage museum of its name above, and also: Women's Initiative for walk-in (Tuesdays) counseling and massage; Common Grounds (yoga & meditation classes); two of the best "fast food" restaurants (Thai Noodles & Jamaican that share a serving space at front entrance); and, a small branch of Cvlle Parks & Recreation gym space & basketball court. Go!!

Can walk from my house to Free Trolley to UVa founded by Thomas Jefferson. With Rotunda, the Lawn, and nearby cafes and stores in close walking distance. It is a 1/2 hr. stroll from my home.
