On the back of the loop road there is a visitor center and an old community. There is a working grist mill black smith shop and in season they are making sorghum molasses. Great place to see bears also. Bring a picnic lunch and find YOUR spot. Do bring snacks as it takes a few hours to do and no food is available.

Cades Cove Loop RoadOn the back of the loop road there is a visitor center and an old community. There is a working grist mill black smith shop and in season they are making sorghum molasses. Great place to see bears also. Bring a picnic lunch and find YOUR spot. Do bring snacks as it takes a few hours to do and no food is available.
I think it is about a 5 or 6 mile round trip hike to a water fall. It is worth the hike.
We park at the back of the Cades Cove loop right before you get to the little village. Parking and trail are well marked. It is an intermediate hike.

Local Craftsmen making and selling their creations. Paintings, photos, pottery carvings and a lot of other stuff. This is an area not a single mall or strip center so while the trolley will get you to the area you really need a car to drive around and bump into these craftsmen.

Take the tram up from Gatlinburg or drive up Ski Mtn road to the top. They have year round Ice Skating, a small mall with food and souvenirs, an alpine slide, a mountain coaster, miniature golf, a maze and carnival rides for the kids. Take the lift on up to the top and take in the fantastic views as you listen to a blue grass or country band. Of course in the winter it is a ski resort.
TIP: The lift to the top is way cheaper than the one in town and has much better views. Plus often they have live music up there.
