Check out Dorshi but book ahead! If you take the coast road from abbots bury you'll go through West Bexington and Burton Bradstock... both beautiful beach locations.

Plenty of parking and if you have children (or you are young at heart!) maybe stop by the Tank Museum on the way. Wonderful village with the famous Cerne giant hillside carving… great pubs and walks too
We love the village, the pubs, the food, and the people. It's a wonderful place and that crazy carving!... still disputed who and why it was carved. So much mystery. Cerne Abbas is a few minutes up the road from Corner Barn, so why not visit and enjoy the views?

Such an historic site! Iron Age hill fort. Built 1st century BC. Fantastic walks on the grounds… and just a few miles from the nine stones…a prehistoric circle constructed some 4,000 yrs ago! Incredible!

The Duck, farm shop and cafe, is a great stop off point for brunch or tea, coffee and cake... the drive on from Portesham to Abbotsbury is a delight. Maybe get down to the coast too? Is not far.

We had a take away recently and it was really good. If you like your Japanese food, this is a real treat. We plan to have a proper sit down dinner soon so will update the guidebook.

Beach
A great seaside town with old harbour and amazing soft sand. Lots to do in this historic town and a great place to start a walk along the coast… east or west? Both amazing!
A great spot to head for before or after your visit to Abbotsbury. Nature, sand, beach... and just over 30 mins from Corner Barn (add on time for coffee and cake stop off!). What's not to love?

Prevailing westerly breeze means on-shore in the harbour for lessons and safe kitesurfing, and on an easterly its on shore on the sandy beach... for some wave surfing! Poole old harbour is a quaint old village and Sandbanks has some of the most amazing homes found anywhere in the UK. If you visit, maybe take the ferry across to Studland to visit the great shoreline and the Castle? Or a trip over or around the uninhabited Brownsea island? A really full day out and about 45 mins drive from Corner Barn

The 6 person sauna is well worth booking (see www.seasidesaunahaus.co.uk) and Sarah can advise on hydration and getting into the sea for a sauna/sea rotation that will make your whole body glow! You'll never forget this treat. Highly recommended.

Amazing drives
The coast road from Dorchester to west bay is one of our favourites. The views of Chelsie beach are stunning. Stop off at the Duck in portesham for breakfast or lunch and then brace yourselves for some incredible scenery.

This village was built on the old Victorian Herrison hospital where ‘shell shock’ victims from WW1 were ‘looked after’. Still has an austere feel walking past the buildings now converted to apartments. The local shop is a 7 minute walk from us and is open 7am-9pm (off-license and a post office too) for bread, milk, ice cream, fruit/veg, eggs, newspapers and all those things you forget or need when away.

Also look out for the Portland 'race'... the tidal waters that have taken down many a good sailor not giving it the respect it deserves. That includes a few of the Spanish Armada that were grounded by Drake and demoralised the Spanish fleet seeing a fine ship rendered useless. If you love seafood the Crab House Cafe is an essential for lunch or dinner. But book up before you set off for Corner Barn as they are very popular. The sea food is 10/10. It's pretty expensive but hey, you get what you pay for. The menu changes daily depending on the catch that day.
