Beautiful old wooden town. Pretty harbour with boats to Visingsö in summer. Great ice cream shops, heated outdoor pool (and swimming in the lake) and lovely park. Decent pizza place and local fish.

Second largest lake in Sweden and possibly largest drinking water source in the world - the water is that clean. Fantastic for swimming (when it's warm enough!).

Town museum with lots about the history of Alvasjo, the von Essen family, Vulcan match factory and the local area. OFten have really fun exhibitions for kids - Summer 2014 was Star Wars.
