A very cosy Medieval Inn in the heart of the village of Lanlivery. Food is served in the restaurant or pub area. The pub has several interesting little areas giving a snug feel with its low ceilings, slate floor, old black wooden doors, granite walls and beer garden. You can really take a step back in time to a Cornwall when farming, mining and fishing were booming. Local legend has it that the monks lived here as they built the neighbouring Lanlivery Church and brewed their own beer here. Although there is no beer brewed on site these days, there is always an interesting and varied selection of local ales served in good condition for the connoisseur to sample. A night out here with friends for conversation is recommended.

A very interesting working exhibition of China Clay production over the past century with access to views of current clay pit production. If geology, engineering, history or mining interest you then you must visit. I love the working water wheel, access to the coal fired clay dries and the mica dams. China clay is still produced locally in Cornwall but using very different mechanical methods. The working models of mine engines should keep young engineers entertained. The cafe at the end of the visit offers very good light bites for brunch or lunch. There is also a large park with wooded walks if you have longer to spend. Well worth a visit if you want to know more about the Cornish Alps.

A bar and restaurant in the City of Truro. If you are having a night out in the Cornish City then this place is worth a visit. The decor is all up cycled 'vintro-rentage' with a floor made from the wooded boards out of a school sports hall with all the markings clearly visible, but in the wrong order creating a really stunning yet subtle effect. Home made burgers and fries taste great and the menu is easy and satisfying. Downstairs for drinks and upstairs for dining. Truro Lounge is situated at the end of town where many other bars and small music venues offer patronage to the evening reveller. Make this a stop on the way to Vanilla or L2.

Helman Tor is a natural Granite batholithe formed millions of years ago and a hidden gem of the Cornish landscape. Access is along narrow lanes and an unsurfaced , slopping car park. The last part must be completed on foot. If you love walking, views and the great outdoors then this is truly a wild place to visit. A longer walk can be achieved from the car park at the Crown Inn, Lanlivery (see review). Returning to a welcome pint and a bite to eat is very satisfying and well worth the effort.
