If you want to try cross country skiing, downhill skiing or snowboarding this is the place to do so close to the heart of Oslo City Center. You have many possibilities for cross country tracks in the area. You can rent all equipment and clothing up at the Tryvann skisenter. T.bane combined with a bus takes you all the way up there. I always enjoy the beautiful view going up there. If you want to go sledding the well known Korketrekkeren is worth a Google search. For those who just want a walk then jump off at Holmenkollen on the way. Use the Ruter app, get a ticket for zone 1 and you are good to go. You can check out Bua.io for free rentals

This is a nice hike upwards to Kålsåstoppen. You get a nice view! I recommend you bring water and some extra snacks/food for this tour. People go climbing here, and you might find social groups online. Take Tbane 3 towards Kolsås (opposite of city center). There should be marked paths once you exit the neighborhood, and G Maps will show you the way from the tbane to the nature path.

Close to Montebello, is this Forrest you can walk, run or bike through. You will see squirrel if your lucky and there is many small paths you can discover in this Forrest taking you to Ullern, towards Røa and up to the top of Montebello.

This is a hike to a hanging bridge in Nordmarka, in Oslo. You can make a day trip out of it. It's very popular in Oslo to have a Hammock with you when hiking to relax a few hours during the hike. You should definitely bring water, some food, extra jacket and sunscreen with you. Find "Fantastiske marka" online for more ideas

Coffeehouse and Dining

I go here during winter to get their amazing hot chocolate 😍 I hope they do not change it Ever! It's far from Kakao, or those hot chocolates made with chocolate sauce or powder. This is melted chocolate, but not too heavy for my taste.

This place is more than great, it is my absolute favorite among the coffee & bars in Oslo. Café Amsterdam has a lot of Charm! An authentic place decorated for the different holidays, seasons, and special events hosted. You can talk Dutch with most of the staff there, hence the name really is authentic. Regulars, as well as new faces, visit this place. The staff truly cares about your experience, they are passionate about their job and prioritize safety. During the daytime people meet up with their friends, groups of businesspeople in the area visit this place frequently, people take a sip of coffee at the bar, or drink a coffee and code. If you have a sweet tooth, you should be aware that they serve the coffee with a little Stroopwafel on the side, so charming. To snack, the Bitterballen (a Dutch Secret) with mustard has become my personal favorite in addition to their Tapas plate which I prefer to share with a friend. The Dutch Apple Cake is also very good. They sell take-home Dutch cheese (NB! Preorder online). The place has enough beverages to choose from. They have Dutch beers and guest beers if you want to try something new. If you are more into cocktails, they got you covered with a good quality selection of options that are frequently updated and reviewed. It is recommended to make a reservation or to arrive early during prime time. You can expect the place to get busy around 8 to 9 pm on the weekends, and people's dance skills usually appear around 11-12 pm (in Norway we have a slow start). You can expect to see people sit and chat around the tables. In addition, to groups of people dancing and welcoming newbies such as yourself. The dancefloor tends to get crowded, but there is overall plenty of space if you need to keep some distance. I truly like that the owner and staff put a lot of effort into being a serious and responsible business.

This is such a cozy place to visit for Christmas or during summer. The small local shops such as the chocolate factory, the pancake house and the local artists got me hooked. I recommend giving it a Google search.

Aker Brygge is the place to go when visiting Oslo. The Seaview is always beautiful no matter the time of year you visit. There are many places to sit outside if you take a coffee to go, or you can choose from the many cafes, pubs, and restaurants. When walking down Aker Brygge you will see some displayed art, and at the end is the Astrup Fearnley museum. I like to sit down and have a cappuccino at Olivia's which is one of many options for drinking coffee and eating out. There is a lot of shopping in the area if you want to combine the two.

I love this park! You just have to go see it and bring a camera. Norwegians go to this park to relax, exercise and just spend time outdoors with friends.

Food Scene

The favorite place for Asian Fusion. Be aware that a reservation can be smart to have as this place gets full. I think the prices are in the middle range, but you get such amazing food. The quality of the food is high. I would recommend that you go very easy on the spicy level, as they are not joking when they warn people against going to hot.

Olivia's which is an Italian restaurant, is the place where I particularly prefer to drink a cappuccino and have their Ravioli con funghi for dinner 👌 They have a seating section inside a winter garden, and I think it's quite romantic there. It can get pretty warm under the heating lamps but for girls who easily get a chill it's perfect.

If you go here for In my opinion among the best burgers in Oslo, you can check if my friend Sandra is at work and greet her from me " say you are guests of Sol". They have nice food to snack on and good drinks as well. It is a place where you sit down and enjoy a. drink, but perfect location for moving on to the close clubs nearby at "Sollis".

Ruter app

Cheaper to buy a ticket on the Ruter app, than on the bus (if even possible anymore). They check public transport in Oslo frequently so I highly recommend being prepared.
