City/town information

Take the train two stops down to Olde Town Arvada. This historical town is popular with a homey vibe. It has something for everyone- artisan cafe's, creative one of a kind restaurants, craft breweries, cute boutiques and even a German bakery. Some of my favorites are School House, Arvada Tavern, Fuzzy's Tacos, Bluegrass Coffee and Bourbon, Smokin Fin's and Penzey's Spices. For breakfast, you can try Bread Winners Cafe (I have yet to try!). For coffee, Hunter Bay is the newest coffee roaster in town (drip, lavender, or CBD coffee anyone?). La Dolce Vita is another cafe run by a local Arvada family, serving only local products, including coffee cake made with grandma's original recipe! For the plant-based fans, there's So Radish, which features a 100% plant-based menu with gluten-free options, cocktails, craft beer and cider cans, kombucha, happy hour and 80s vibes.

Sightseeing

4 miles away. This is a great place to hike if you want to save time, go somewhere close and get a bit of a workout. There are some good inclines to get your heart rate up. Take a look at the North Table Mountain Map to pick a trail. You can do a 3.5 mile loop, create your own adventure, or hike the loop that circles around the entire park, called North Table Loop (7.5milles). It can be tricky to find but if your GPS doesn't have the option to select "North Table Mountain -East Trailhead," you can search and go towards "Tony Grampsas Memorial Sports Complex." You will take Salvia St to a large dirt parking lot. Parking for the hiking trails will be on the left. In the parking lot you will see a sign that says, "Golden Bike Park." Walk north on the trail from the parking lot. Eventually (probably less than 1/4 mi), you will get to a path that goes left/west across the street (Easly) which connects you to the rest of the trail system of North Table Mountain.

7 miles away. Scenic, sprawling mesa park formed by ancient lava flows provides hiking, panoramic views & native wildlife. The parking lot is paved at this entrance and easier to find. It's the same North Table Mountain Park just the West side entrance.

Chautauqua Park is a stunning portion of an iconic historic landmark dating back to when the City of Boulder began preserving wild lands over 100 years ago. If you are going to head to Boulder, definitely check out Chautauqua Park while your there. Every hike is beautiful. Popular hikes are to the Flatirons and Royal Arch. It can get crowded on weekends. Parking is paid through an app, unless you park 5+ blocks away in the residential area. It's about 20 miles away or ~30 minutes.

11 miles away. A must see! Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air amphitheater not duplicated anywhere in the world. With Mother Nature as the architect, the design of the Amphitheatre consists of two 300 foot monoliths (Ship Rock and Creation Rock) that provide a stunning setting for any performance. The dramatic sandstone monoliths serve as a history book of animal and plant life in the area for the past 250 million years. Red Rocks hosts some of the biggest names in music, which is why it’s also one of the most popular music venues in the country. If there is a concert that night, you'll want to sight see the area in the morning, definitely before 2pm because they'll close to the public for events. Check their phone recording at 720then865then 2494 for the most up-to-date info. Admission and parking are free to visit Red Rocks Park, Amphitheatre, Visitor Center, Trading Post and the Colorado Music Hall of Fame during non-event times. There are several hikes in the area too!

Free parking at the Golden Visitor Center. Go in and see what they recommend. Just outside the visitor center is Clear Creek River (in warm months you can rent a tube and float down). It's beautiful to walk along. You can do a loop: walk up one side of the river towards the mountains, then go left over one of the bridges and walk back along the other side of the river. Stop by any of the great shops and restaurants in the area. There are some restaurants where you can dine outside while overlooking the river.

Great place to enjoy a bite or drink outside overlooking the river...I think the food is OK but I'm a pescatarian so you may have better options. Check out the reviews to see what's good, or just have a meal somewhere else and a have a drink or dessert like creme brulee here :)

Food scene

3.4mi or 2 train stops away in Olde Town Arvada. On April 7th 1933, the town of Arvada issued their first Tavern license to the owner of the Arvada Tavern, Adrian Kline allowing the legal sale of alcohol to the public in the town limits of Arvada for the first time in history. For the people of Arvada, this was a day of liberation. The Siepp family remodeled the Arvada Tavern with inspiration from the 1934 Chicago’s Worlds Fair. This included the glass-block front and the “art modern” style. The terrazzo floors and the glass block entry are all that remain of this remodel, but the color scheme and overall theme of the interior architecture are all created to emulate the 1940 remodel. They emphasize the craft side of mixology, making as many syrups, bitters, and tonics from scratch and specializing in pre-Prohibition style cocktails that put America into the spotlight before 1920.

I love this place and the entertainment venue is where I once performed. It's a beautiful historical building completely renovated, merging original features of the building with classy design, ultimately providing great vibe and atmosphere. Placards around the venue and menu tell the history of what these buildings used to be, along with tales of the American West and frontier spirit. Great food, signature cocktails and often live music.

This is a dive bar! I think...I'm not much of a dive bar person but this place surprisingly has amazing Vietnamese food (noodle bowls!!!) and that's what I go for. I particularly love their grilled shrimp noodle bowl. Their pad thai is "OK." They have typical a typical American fare/grill menu as well. There is live music some nights.

Light yet delicious and flavorful Indian Cuisine! Considering they are in Boulder, their lunch and dinner buffets are such a great deal. A great day in Boulder would be hiking in Chautauqua, dining at The Taj and maybe a walk up and down Pearl Street. May through September, see what's happening at the Chautauqua Auditorium, built in 1898 it hosts the Colorado Music festival in summer months.
