Beautiful views of the battleship at sunset, fun shops and restaurants. 1st hour of parking in the city garage is free, take the chance to take a walk! There are horse drawn historic tours, walking tours and seasonal festivals/markets. I have even ventured South to the boat launch (free parking) near the South bridge and walked through the historic neighborhoods to take in the essence of Wilmington. Wear comfy shoes, bring a camera!

Very close to home! Perfect 1.25 mile paved trail around the lake. Great for sunsets, walking, running, biking or park bench sitting! There are lots of kids, large groups and pets near the parking area, but out around the lake there are spots for fishing, bird observation and I have even seen deer! I go to this park almost every day and have a photo on the listing.

Walking distance. Local park with athletic fields, a skate park, dog park, BBQ/picnic area, walking paths, tennis, outdoor gym equipment, etc. Great spot for spending time outside. Occasionally busy with kids sports/tournaments.

At Poplar Grove Plantation: Apart from the historical home, there are great hiking trails on the property! Secluded feel with creeks and lots of trees, but occasionally very busy, take a GPS because trails aren't well marked- but your never more than a mile from the parking.

We are kinda addicted to the "whole" experience... love the hot food/salad bar, they have pizza and sandwiches made to order, gelato bar and a bakery. (its not the largest store I have ever been in, but its still the iconic experience that Whole Foods in known for.
