Great spot to stop on a hot day, or after biking or driving the Schoodic Loop, or after dinner at The Pickled Wrinkle. The market/gas station across the street has a decent selection of basic household supplies as well.

Our favorite farm just a 1/4 mile up the road for simply incredible produce, eggs, and chicken and more. Be sure to check their site for updates on visiting the farm due to Covid. In normal times they have a farm store open to the public. During Covid they required that you pre-order (visit website for simple instructions) and come during specified pick up times. Either way, I can't recommend enough purchasing your produce from caretakers Shepsi and Liz..Tell them Claire sent you.

You can also rent kayaks here from Sea Schoodic though best to call them ahead of time to get access to the kayaks (they are kept locked at an unmanned rack. 15 minutes up highway where you can find a Shop and Stop (slightly bigger/better grocery store than the one in Winter Harbor). Also home to the Incredible Edible Milbridge gardens, a good Mexican restaurant with outdoor seating, Chipmans Wharf (a great spot to buy lobster and other local seafood to cook at home) and River Lily - a really beautiful little gift shop..

Run by one of Maine's conservation and food darlings Roxanne Quimby, Market Day has great pies, cookies, fresh eggs, the best made to order cider doughnuts I've ever had, and great hand made pastas..Get there early for those doughnuts, they run out fast.

Be sure to pack bug spray - there's no getting around the fact that some areas in Down East can get pretty buggy. Also pack sun screen and extra water where ever you go, and don't get too low on gas. Down East Maine is rural, driving distances between commercialized areas can catch you off guard!

Taking the Ferry to Bar Harbor is a beautiful way to go and takes about the same amount of time as driving. Great way to go and explore the town of Bar Harbor!
