Sightseeing

Pitlochry is a beautiful town with a lot going on. Take a hike up Ben y Vraickie, one of my favourite hillwalks with stunning views all the way across the Cairngorms or to Glencoe on a clear day. Really beautiful. There is a good distillery near to Pitlochry. I suggest the Moulin Inn for great local food and Ales, locally brewed for over a century! Lots of good specialised shopping if you want a browse, and lunch/dinner spots. Very scenic pretty town too, accessible by train.

This is the village I am from originally. Go to Aran Bakery for phenomenal baked goods. The owner, Flora, was runner up on Great British Bake-off! Wow! Across the road is the Scottish Deli where you can sit in, or take-away. Great range of sandwiches, deli food, and Scottish delights. They also do ad hoc evenings with a theme e.g. wine and tapas. The Taybank is the most popular pub, with good live music and cosy atmosphere. Walk along the river too, past the Cathedral, which is scenic. The Dunkeld House Hotel is for a more dressed up lunch, or spa treat. If you have a car, go to the Hermitage with a great waterfall and walks. Birnam Hill top is a nice high walk with good views. Dunkeld and Birnam are accessible by train.

If you have a car, this loch is a favourite, and it also goes past Loch Tummel. You can cycle or drive all the way around, or stay and go for a dip near the village.

Food scene

A good selection of some of the best in town: - The Bean Shop which is a coffee roaster, to buy beans fresh. - The Deli for deli delights. - Casella & Polegato, for fresh bread, baked goods, lunches. - Grand Italia, is a great authentic restaurant. - Richards bike shop. - Brewdog. Also try near: - Artisan coffee shop, on St John Street is really great too for coffee, lunch, evening drinks/tapas, and they have freshly made Sicilian treats baked on the in-house bakery! - Cardo which are renowned for good food and their on-site made Macarons. - The Bothy for Scottish food as a restaurant. - Kisas is a nice bar.

Walking around Kinnoull hill and Deuchny are fabulous.

Take a stroll up the hill towards Kinnoull summit for lovely views, relaxing trails, scenery. Head over to Deuchny for more walking which is very remote, woodland and farmland. You can go for hours!
