Get a day pass for the bus - but check which company!
There are two bus companies operating in Portsmouth: Stagecoach, and First Bus. They do not accept each other's tickets, so decide which company and then buy a day pass to hop on and off the bus all day. The bus stops directly outside the apartment and they are frequent - if you need to know which ones to get just ask :)
