By 1982, GHF staff and volunteers completed restoration and transformed this rare, historic vessel into a floating museum that would actively sail. Today, the 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA is one of only three ships of her kind in the world to still actively sail and welcomes over 40,000 visitors annually. She also serves as the Official Tall Ship of Texas, a National Historic Landmark and a symbol of the Gulf Coast’s historic beginnings as a seaport and active waterfront. Take the ferry over to Bolivar Peninsula and be sure to keep your eyes open for the dolphins! I haven't actually been to the Bolivar Peninsula in years except to ride the ferry back and forth, lol! It's a fun time for the kids :)

Food scene
This is my FAVORITE seafood restaurant on the island! I have never had a bad dish there yet. I HIGHLY recommend the Gumbo (there's a bite of shrimp, sausage or chicken in EVERY bite!). Their Lump Crab Cakes are the best I've ever had and I've had them all over Maryland. (Be sure to get extra lemon tarter sauce with them!) The Flagship Shrimp and Grits are spectacular! And...Misty makes the perfect Jalapeno Margarita :) Also, I've many people tell me to try the 3 Pepper Chicken. That's next on my list!

Selma, relax on a sunset cruise, learn a little history about Galveston’s harbor, or take a thrilling jet boat ride.
