Centoe, pronounced as see-no-tey, are cave pools that were formed naturally after an asteroid hit earth millions of years ago. Cenotes are unique to Yucatan peninsula due to its geography and provide fresh water because of their connectivity to underground river water systems. They are very important and spritually significant for Mayans as they refer to them as portals to the underworld. Grand cenote is one of the most popular cenote in the area and just a few minutes drive from our property.
