The Nest
36 Stoke Newington RoadTrendy bar, where lots of bands play and the cool kids hang out.
Can't really categorise this place.. It's a fab gay bar - but lots of straight people, like myself, hang out there.. It has a club downstairs, which gets some brilliant DJs and gets quite raucous at night.. But during the day you can have a quiet drink and get food. Never boring.

Famous London market. Has become quite commercial now, with some big brands moving into the area to trade on it's 'funky/edgy/trendy' status.. Still some interesting things to be found. Save enough time (and money) to cross over into Brick Lane - there's a good market over there, as well as a couple of great vintage shops. Plus, Brick Lane itself is famous for its extensive number of Indian restaurants.

Not a great selection but it's close and will have the basics.. But it's part of a chain and you'll see loads of local independent grocery stores on your way.
