Use the tram for less traffic
To go to the old town and Ottoman palaces, use the tram (Tophane station is the closest to the apartment) By tram you can go to Eminonu, Sirkeci, Sultanahmet etc. (Hagia Sophia, Spice Bazaar, Topkapi Palace and big mosques are on this route.

You can get them from TUNNEL station or buffets. Then you have to upload money to the card from the machines (you will see them on the stations.)
