Museums

This is my favorite museum in the city, and it's right here in Hyde Park! It's got everything—a gigantic model train layout, an interactive coal mining simulation, an *entire submarine*, and so much more! It's a great visit no matter how much or how little time you have.

I haven't been myself, but I've heard only good things! And since it's just a block away from the apartment, it's a very easy one to visit!

Museum Campus is home to the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, and the Adler Planetarium! Each is excellent individually, and it's possible to visit all three in one go. They're a bit far from Hyde Park, though, so be prepared.

If Egyptian history is your thing, you can't miss this one! It's right on the UChicago campus here in Hyde Park, and while it's small it's still got plenty of cool things to see!

This is the biggest art collection in the city of Chicago, with art of basically every variety, including a few well-known works like Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". It's paradise for any art lover.

A culinary staple of Hyde Park! Medici has both a sit-down restaurant and a café, so that no matter which experience you're feeling up for, it's got you covered.

The best place to go for a classic Chicago deep-dish pizza! It also serves standard pizza and many varieties of pasta. Waiting times for your food to be brought out can be long, but it's very much worth it.

A wonderful park right on the lake! Perfect for getting fresh air and seeing some unique views of the city. It's a bit of a long walk from the apartment, though, so be prepared to get some exercise.

Navy Pier is a tourist trap—but if that's your thing, then you'll probably have a great time! And it's got a ferris wheel, which is always fun. It's on the north side of downtown, so be prepared for a bit of a trek to get out there!

While surprisingly few people know about it, this is in my opinion the most beautiful building in the city. Architecture fans will definitely love Frank Lloyd Wright's design of the interior! Tours aren't exactly frequent, so make sure you check the schedule before making the trek downtown!

The Green Line has better views than the Red Line!

If you're planning on taking transit, both the Green Line and the Red Line are pretty good for getting to and from downtown, but the Green Line's elevated while the Red Line is in a highway median followed by a subway. So if you want some views of the city, the Green Line is the way to go!
