Among others some famous alumni of this University are three Nobel prize winners (Enrico Fermi, Carlo Rubbia, Giosuè Carducci), two Italian presidents (Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Giovanni Gronchi) and recently a Fields medal winner (Alessio Figalli)

This very old church is located where centuries ago the river Arno flowed into the sea. A legend says that Saint Peter reached this site coming to Italy from Palestine but what it is absolutely true that in the IV century here there was already a christian building (you can see pieces of it inside this church that was built from the IX century).
You can reach this place also by bike with the Bike Route del Trammino.

Sunset from Ponte di Mezzo
If the sky is clear from clouds look for the sunset hours and go on the Ponte di Mezzo (the white one with single arch) to see the sunset colouring of red all the facades of the buildings on the river. It's unique!
