This was way more fun than I expected. It’s a great way to see some of the sights of Chicago and it was really interesting to learn about some of the cool architecture.

Food scene
A Chicago classic! My family and I have been eating here for over 40 years. It’s the best Italian beef in town and you have to get it dipped with hot peppers. Note that the Taylor Street location only takes cash (ATM is onsite) and there’s a counter where you can stand and eat but no inside dining. There are a few tables outside in the summer.

1079 W Taylor StA Chicago classic! My family and I have been eating here for over 40 years. It’s the best Italian beef in town and you have to get it dipped with hot peppers. Note that the Taylor Street location only takes cash (ATM is onsite) and there’s a counter where you can stand and eat but no inside dining. There are a few tables outside in the summer.
The Chicago mix (cheese and caramel) is a must try! Once you start eating this popcorn, you can’t put it down. It was featured one year as one of Oprah’s favorite things on her holiday show. There are locations throughout downtown but the 87th street location is the closest to the property. You can also grab some in Terminal 3 at Ohare Airport if you don’t have a chance to make it to one of the city locations.

A great local coffee shop and conveniently located. Coffee is great and the pastries are delicious!

Chicago is known for its deep dish pizza. Some folks love Lou Malnati’s but I’m partial to Giordano’s. My favorite is stuffed with pepperoni, mushrooms and spinach. As strange as it may sound, stuffed spinach is a must try! The thin crust pizza is also great so there’s something for everyone.
