I have been going to Shame on the Moon for quite some time. Each time I have gone I have not been disappointed. They "bend over backwards" to make your experience a terrific one. This time we took guests from the Mid West. They loved it. Our waiter (sorry I don't remember his name, but I will never forget the GREAT SERVICE), was amazing and accommodating. I had the baby back ribs... at the urging of "what's his name"... wonderful. the drinks were generous. When in the area, check em out. You won't be disappointed.

This course isn't extremely long but it is BY FAR the most aesthetically pleasing course he has ever played ANYWHERE! The waterfalls, the undulations, the character... not to mention the PERFECT greens (rolling at about a 12 or more) which is nearly impossible to find in the summer heat.
This is now a course I will start playing every time I'm down here. If you're a grip it and rip it type, this course might not be for you as it seems to be a bit of a shot-makers layout. However there are plenty of holes where you can let the big dog run as well.
Great course, great service, awesome little putting course with a creek running down the middle for some fun afterward just make the experience the highlight of my week.

We just finished a round at Desert Willow. My gawd this course is tough! It should be called Sand Trap Willow Golf Course! All jokes aside it's a beautiful course. The view from hole to hole is absolutely stunning. Especially with the snow capped mountains in the background.
It's important to soak this course up from hole #1 to #18.
The golf attendants and the grounds keepers are really friendly. Always willing to lend a hand.
Hole #18 is a beast and will test your golf skills and fortitude. Stay focused and remember why you play the game. For me it's about family, friends and memories but the course rocks and I will take another crack at it soon!

We had such an Amazing day! From start to finish! The staff is hands down 5 stars! We were recommended to Desert Willow by Bianca our concierge at the Ritz. We were not planning on golfing so we didn't have anything. We arrived and our cart and clubs were waiting for us. (How boujee did that just sound?)
We had the best time! I could not get over the course and the beautiful landscaping.
I have not played a lot of course in Palm Desert, but I think it is a bargain at twice the price! The staff,course and all around experience was beyond what we expected!
Definitely coming back!
P.S. I wish we could remember everyone's name from valet, pro shop and the drink cart. Every single person made our experience memorable.

I've been coming to Palm Springs for many years and finally visited Indian Canyons. Wow! I'm sad it took so long to discover this oasis in the desert, but very happy that I have, so now I can enjoy it everytime I find myself visiting the desert.
There is a $9 entry fee per adult and $5 for kids under 12 ( I think), and it is well worth it.
Since this was my family's first visit, the lady at the entry gate suggested we visit Andreas Canyon. We hiked the Murray Canyon Trail which is an easy four mile hike, up and back, that criss crosses over rocks and creeks, with an abundance of Palm trees, desert flora and a few little water falls, depending on the time of year. It had just rained a few days before, so we lucked out. The hike was easy enough so that my daughter didn't complain, but adventurous enough so that she developed a love of hiking.

Tim Esser had an idea on January 31, 1998. He would hold a bike event in Palm Springs that would allow local cyclist to ride 5, 15, 25 and 50 miles. 400 cyclists rode in the first event, known at that time as Spokes for Different Folks. Tim, however, being the guy that never goes only part way, decided to use the event as a launch pad for his own personal ride across America. It took him 30 days to cross the country from Palm Springs, California to Jacksonville, Florida. When it was all over Tim had survived his chase vehicle crashing and catching on fire, a fall that sprained his shoulder, rain in the valleys, snow in the mountains and tornadoes on the plains! But, he made it.
Mother Son Tour de Palm RidersThe first event raised $20,000 and was hailed as a great success by all who participated. Tim, along with his mother Fran, set up a not for profit organization called CVSPIN. Even though many cyclists may think that CVSPIN means to turn over their bicycle pedals as fast as possible in the Coachella Valley, it actually stands for Coachella Valley Serving People In Need. The first Tour de Palm Springs was held in 1999. The number of riders exceeded 1,000 and a 100 mile (century) ride was added. In 2001, the Coachella Valley Desert Business Association recognized the Tour de Palm Springs as the best event in the Valley. The competition included the Bob Hope PGA Tournament, the Dinah Shore LPGA Tournament, The Skins Game and the Tennis Masters Series.Every year the Tour de Palm Springs continues to attract more and more riders. The money generated has gone to help many organizations in the Coachella Valley. In 2015 over $179,000 was donated to 80 local charities that in their own special ways met the varied needs of the people in the Coachella Valley.

The Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is located in Indio, an oasis situated in the vast California desert, approximately 130 miles east from Los Angeles. The Fair started as a festival to celebrate the end of the annual date harvest in the Coachella Valley, the major commercial date-producing area in the western hemisphere.
Dates were an unknown commodity in the valley until 1903 when date palms were transplanted here from Algeria. By the early 1920’s, enough acreage was planted to make dates a major crop for the area. In fact, the date industry represented Riverside County at the 1915 World’s Fair in San Francisco. Date groves in the Coachella Valley were such a novelty that they became quite a tourist attraction.
With the popularity of the date gardens, the idea was planted for a date festival to be held in Indio City Park in 1921. The heavily publicized International Festival of Dates was promoted with an Arabian theme, a reference to the ancestral homeland of the date. A second festival was held the following year, but the interest for an annual fair waned. Instead, date agriculturalists promoted the crop at events such as the Southern California Fair in Riverside, the California State Fair and the Golden Gate International Exposition.
In 1937, the idea for an annual date festival came forth again and the Riverside County Board of Supervisors contracted the Indio Civic Club to organize and promote a third date festival. The newly re-named Riverside County Fair and the Coachella Valley Date Festival opened in 1938, drawing in 72 local vendors and over 5,000 attendants. An elaborate parade was staged through Indio that year featuring over 500 mounted entries along the then-unpaved Deglet Noor Street, beginning a tradition that continues to this year. Fair and parade attendants were encouraged to don Western apparel to fit the fair’s theme that year, which included wiskerenos, cowboy hats and rodeo events.
In 1940, the County invested $10,000 on 40 acres for the establishment of permanent fairgrounds. The grounds were expanded with the purchase of an additional 40 acres--including the date grove--eventually reaching its present-day size of 120 acres. Ground broke for construction on September 27, 1941, though all fair activity came to a halt in 1942 with World War II. After the war, Robert M.C. Fullenwider was hired to manage the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. Fullenwider envisioned an Arabian Nights theme tying in the county fair with the desert region and date industry and as a nod to the 1921 International Festival of Dates.
Although many community members donated their time and energy to the Fair, two individuals made indelible marks with their creative contributions: writer and artist Louise Dardenelle, and retired Hollywood set designer Harry Oliver. Both were intrigued with the Arabian Nights theme. Ms. Dardenelle conceived the idea for an Arabian nights pageant, finishing a first draft before her death in 1947. Harry Oliver designed and supervised construction of the Fair’s Old Baghdad State, which was finished just in time for the first production of the fair’s first pageant in 1948. Under the direction of producer and choreographer Roy Randolph, Prince Khudadad in the Shadow of Destiny became an iconic feature of the Fair’s history.
Today, the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival remains an integral part of the greater Coachella Valley community and a major tourist attraction. It continues the legacy of decades-old desert traditions while celebrating our history and community, and of course, providing fun and excitement for everyone.
