"BIO LUMINESCENT BAY NIGHTTIME TOURS:
Following the assault of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, our renowned Bioluminescent Bay has experienced some trauma.
In the waters of Mosquito Bay, there are organisms named “Pyrodinium Bahamense Dinoflagellates” (dinos). These "dinos" are responsible for an amazing natural phenomenon. When the "dinos" are shaken by moving water, they produce a hard to describe bright burst of blue light. Historically, Mosquito Bay is the perfect environment for these "dinos" as the Bay is small and shallow and the mouth of the bay is small. The tiny organisms are trapped and protected in the bay, making it very bright -- under optimal conditions.
