Do forget to get a ticket before entering the dune reserve. The middle part of this dune area falls into Egmond aan Zee until Castricum here the dunes are tall and rugged. There are many dune tops above 30 meters. The highest dune is west of De Bleek (between Egmond aan Zee and Egmond-Binnen) and is 38.5 meters high.
Make sure you keep you eyes open for the Highland Cow. This is a mostly reddish brown breed that originally comes from Scotland. They have long hair and long horns.
An adult bull weighs 800 kilos and a cow 500 kilos. And of course to the wild horses who occasionally show themselves in a herd.
