Set in the heart of downtown Denver, the beautifully restored Union Station isn’t just a place you go to get somewhere — it’s a destination in and of itself. In fact, it has become a must-see destination when visiting Denver. At Union Station’s center is the Great Hall, a sweeping room with glistening chandeliers and ornate, white molding to emphasize the 65-foot ceilings, and enormous, arched windows that flood the hall with sunlight. Visitors can discover a microcosm of Denver's best local chefs and culinary minds; eclectic boutiques with artsy gifts and local crafts; and a miniature version of Denver’s most beloved bookstore, The Tattered Cover.

Get eye to eye with a steer that weighs more than your car, watch sheep dogs gently herd their fluffy friends into a pen, be dazzled by the artistry of trick roping in the Mexican Rodeo and, of course, eat a funnel cake. Denver's National Western Stock Show is one of the world's premier Western spectacles. Pull on your cowboy boots, grab your chaps and see it for yourself each January at the National Western Complex (Jan. 6–21, 2018). For the last 112 years, thousands of visitors from across the country have come out to see more than 15,000 animals, rodeo performances, bull-riding competitions, dancing-horse shows, barrel racing, auctions and booths selling everything from boots to cookware.

The Mission Ballroom is a fantastic, new concert venue located in RiNo neighborhood (just a mile away from our house so we walk to the venue!). The building opened in August 2019 with a capacity of nearly 4,000 patrons. There are food trucks outside the venue before events, but if you want to sit down and eat and drink beforehand, Black Shirt Brewing, Bigsby's Folly and Blue Moon Brewing are within walking distance too.
