Arguably one of the coolest places on H St.- Dr. Granville Moore used to run his practice out of this converted row home. If you like mussels and pub food, this Belgian eatery is the place for you. Chef Teddy Folkman was featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay and cooked his Bleu mussels. Guess who won?!

Here you’ll find some cool restaurants and local shops. A little background: Barracks Row is home to the first commercial center in Washington, DC. All types of bands play here. The lower level is generally for a paid ticket. The second level is usually DJ’d and the later it gets, the more likely you’ll be in the middle of a dance party. The top floor is the roof and during good weather you may find a cornhole setup to play. Cornhole = beanbag toss for adults.

Definitely worthy of a visit. Originally named Union Terminal Market, vendors gathered at this location to sell fresh produce, meats and dairy items. In the 1960’s the government banned the outdoor sell of meats and eggs, essentially killing the farmers market foot traffic. Later, the indoor market was constructed into what we now know as Union Market. Union Market brings together local artisans and restaurants in one warehouse style building. You can grab anything from a coffee to a Korean taco and then visit the vendors for some DC goodies.

Parks & Nature
A quick walk South- This is a fun place for kids or pups to play, or a nice place to read a book outdoors on a sunny day. You wouldn’t know it, but Lincoln Park was initially used as a dump. During the Civil War, it was the site of Lincoln Hospital and was among the places visited by Walt Whitman, who was visiting injured soldiers. In 1867, Congress authorized the grounds to be called Lincoln Square (now Lincoln Park). As a memorial to the former President it was the first public site to bear his name.

Nationals Park is a couple mile walk or a short ride over. The stadium is awesome- there’s not a bad seat in the house. If you want to do it on the cheap, grab the least expensive ticket you can and chill at the Red Porch Bar & Patio. Make sure to pay attention during the fourth inning for the Presidents Race. The Bullpen at Half Street Fairgrounds (1201 Half St SE) is a good place to grab a drink before or after the game.
