Gateway to the mighty Tasman. Whatipu is the end of line with one road in and the same road out. There is a dock campsite available and lodge which can be booked for more comfortable stays. Toilets and parking are available and there is ample room for picnics on the well kept grassy areas. A short walk across the dunes and you'll find yourself at Whatipu lighthouse looking across at the Manukau heads, this daring sandbar has claimed many an unobservant sailor. This is a great beach for all and easily accessible for families and small children.

The arty little town of Titirangi can easily fill a day with a variety of pubs and eateries, art gallery and library. This is also the closest town to Cornwallis and offers a supermarket, liquor store and petrol station for much needed supplies.
