Food Scene
If you want paella, you can't get much better than this. Being on the beach big plus. The paella is reasonably priced, I usually order it with a salad to start. Everything else is pricey.

Ideal place to go for a romantic dinner small, very good food and attentive service. The space is very special with it's stone arch, in the Gothic quarter. Not cheap eats, but worth it!

On this street there are a number of local tapas bars. They are a bit loud, I mean not romantic, but really cheap (tapas are usually 1-2€) and fun to get a taste of local tapas.

This relatively new place is great for brunch even if it's after lunch time. The service is friendly, lots of natural light especially in the big room at the end although it can get noisy there so I prefer the tables near the entrance or the bar. The Huevos Rancheros are delicious and I especially like the Açaí na tigela, since I haven't been able to get some since visiting Brasil.

Not to be missed! The food is beyond delicious, the prices are more than reasonable. The only problem is getting a table, or space at the bar, which at best will be cramped. Usually opens from 2pm ‘til 1 am, so try getting a table on off hours - between 4 and 7. My trick is to stop by a good hour or 90 minutes beforehand, get on the waiting list and then show up later. They always let me in!

Sightseeing
La Pinta, la Niña y la Santa Maria, were built here, yes Columbus' ships! One of the largest gothic buildings still standing that's not a church. The Museum is a dud, but check out the café to see it.

Beautiful Romanesque church from the 14th century just around the corner. Small gem of a cloister, definitely worth walking in if it's open.

If you're looking for late night heavy electronic beats, this is the place to go. A smaller dance floor upstairs serves up nostalgic or even silly disco music. In fact a whole nocturnal ecosystem springs up in and around this club each night. Flyers at many local bars will give you free access until 2AM

One of the most exclusive after clubs in Barcelona. Either you're a member or friends with a member or you simply will not enter. Techno beats start at 6:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays and most holidays, usually closing around noon on Saturdays and 1PM or so on Sundays. The location indicated here is obviously not correct. No sense in telling you where it is if you cannot get in.
