Liebertine Petit Café. The third Libertine restaurant, Libertine Petit Café, has opened its doors at the Noordermarkt in Amsterdam! Other locations can be found at the Wolvenstraat (Libertine Cafe Café) and the Berenstraat (Libertine Comptoir de Cuisine). This restaurant serves French inspired dishes, just as the other Libertine locations. The restaurant chain is from the well known Casper Reinders who also recently opened Bumbu Kitchen. About Libertine Petit Café Libertine Petit Café is a laid back all day spot where you can sit down and enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Besides that they also serve some tasty pastries to enjoy over a cup of coffee. Our personal favorites? The French toast for breakfast and a steak tartare for lunch or as a small dinner. Besides that they also serve a tasty French apple pie, ordering that one is always a good idea Terrace outside. Hortus Botanicus Decided to take a trip to the botanical gardens whilst in Amsterdam. The entry fee is fairly cheap, and there was no queue to get in. Situated on Plantage Middenlaan, the tram stops directly outside of the zoo, from here not far to walk to Hortus Botanicus.. A green oasis of life and colour in beautiful surroundings is only a ten minute ride away from the centre of Amsterdam. I had a great time here. The dam square is in the centre. The Vondelpark ( 1865 ) The Vondelpark is a public urban park of 47 hectares (120 acres) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is part of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid and situated west from the Leidseplein and the Museumplein. The park was opened in 1865 and originally named Nieuwe Park (English: New Park), but later renamed to Vondelpark, after the 17th-century playwright and poet Joost van den Vondel. Yearly, the park has around 10 million visitors. In the park is an open-air theatre, a playground and several food service facilities. In 1864 a group of citizens led by Christiaan Pieter van Eeghenestablished the Vereeniging tot Aanleg van een Rij- en Wandelpark(English: Association for the Construction of a Park for Riding and Strolling). They bought several hectares of grass-land and marshes at the rim of the city of Amsterdam, in order to create the new park. They assigned the architect Jan David Zocher to design it, and in 1865 "Het Nieuwe Park" (English: "The New Park") was opened for members of the association and in exchange for a fee also for other citizens.[2] Two years after the park opened, in 1867, a statue of writer and playwright Joost van den Vondel was placed in the park. Sculptor Louis Royer created the sculpture and the architect Pierre Cuypers designed the stand.[2] As a result, people started to call the park "Vondelspark" (English: "Vondel's Park").[3] In 1873 a bandstand was built. In the same year, brewer Gerard Adriaan Heineken was denied to open a bar in the park, so he built the Bierhuis Vondel (English: "Beer House Vondel") in the street next to the park, what is now Vondelstraat 41.[2] The last part of the park was designed by Louis Paul Zocher, Jan David Zocher's son, and was realized from 1875 to 1877.[4] The park now became its current size of 47 hectares. Also the English garden style design of the Zochers has been roughly maintained up to now, although in the late 19th century the elongated park had a stream of water from the beginning to the end and contained many small paths and small bushes.[3] In 1878 the Pavillon (English: "Pavilion") was built as a replacement of a wooden chalet built by Louis Paul Zocher. The Pavillon is currently known as the Vondelparkpaviljoen (English: "Vondelpark Pavilion"). The park's name was officially changed into "Vondelpark" (English: "Vondel Park") in 1880.[2] Already in the 1880s and 1890s the cycling in the park caused hindrance. First the park management tried to resolve this with restrictive measurements against cyclists, such as special bike paths, limited opening hours, and fines for cyclists that were going faster than a horse's trot. It was only after mediation of the Algemene Nederlandsche Wielrijders-Bond (English: "General Dutch Cyclists Union"), that helped fund the park, that a park guard was installed and cyclists were again permitted to cycle normally.[2] 20th century[edit] The Blauwe Theehuis in 2010 In 1936, a rose garden was created in the center of the park.[3] One year later in 1937, the Blauwe Theehuis (English: "Blue Tearoom") was opened. This tearoom is a round modernist building, designed by the architectural office Baanders.[5] In the following years the overall maintenance of the park became too expensive for the Vereniging tot aanleg van een rij- en wandelpark (English: "Association for the creation of a park for riding and strolling"), due to an intensified use, and in 1953 the association donated the park to the city of Amsterdam. The landscape architect Egbert Mosrenovated the Vondelpark for the city in the 1950s. The purpose was improve the park for both usage and maintenance. Small bushes were grouped into larger bushes, superfluous paths were removed, and the rose garden was renovated. Also the stream of water in the "trunk" near the northern entrance of the park was removed.[3] In the 1960s children's playgrounds were created. During the flower power era in the 1960s/1970s the Vondelpark became a symbol of a place where "everything is possible and (almost) everything is allowed".[6] In the 1980s an open-air theatre was built.[3] The Vondelpark received the status of rijksmonument (English: "state monument") in 1996.[3] 21st century[edit] People in the park on a Sunday in September 2008 In the 1990s the number of visitors grew to approximately 10 million visitors annually. The grass is used as sports field and the paths as bike paths. This caused the city to start a new renovation that took place from 1999 to 2010. The purpose is to intensify the monumental value of the park and furthermore to improve the park's durability. The renovation took more than ten years in order to decrease the hindrance for visitors and for brooding animals.[7] Starting in September 2008, adults were planned to be legally allowed to have sex in the park,[8] as long as they "take their garbage with them afterwards and never have intercourse near the playground. The sex must be limited to the evening hours and night.", in the words of current Amsterdam Alderman Paul Van Grieken.[9 The Vondelpark Openluchttheater is an open-air theatre with shows from June until August. There are performances of classical music, pop music, world music, dance, musical theatre, and cabaret. The theatre receives a subsidy from the city government. And although all performances have free entrance, visitors are asked for a donation of one euro.[10] Food service[edit] In the park are several food service (horeca) facilities (listed in alphabetical order): 't Blauwe Theehuis, a bar and restaurant[11] Groot Melkhuis, a bar and restaurant[12] Vondeling, the bar and restaurant of the open-air theatre[10] Vondeltuin, a bar and restaurant[13] There are some statues in the park: Joost van den Vondel (1867) by Louis Royer[2] The Fish (1965) by Pablo Picasso[5] Mama Baranka (1985) by Nelson Carrilho[14] Every Friday there is the Fridaynightskate that starts in front of the Filmmuseum. Yearly events include the golf tournament Vondelpark Open and the running contest Vondelparkloop. The King's Day celebrations on 27 April in the Vondelpark focus specifically on children. There is a "freemarket" (Dutch: vrijmarkt) and there are games and other activities for children. From June until August there are music and dance performances in the open-air theatre. Since 2011 on the evening of All Soul's Day people gather and float many small "remembrance" boats with a lighted candle in the big pond to remember those who have died in the last year(s).[citation needed] Popular culture The park is referenced in Acda en De Munnik's song "Vondelpark vannacht" from the album Acda en De Munnik(1997), in Omar Rodríguez-López's song "Vondelpark bij nacht" from the album Omar Rodriguez (2005) and in John Craigie's song "Vondelpark" from the album Working On My Farewell (2015). 1990s' 2009 album 'Kicks' opens with a track entitled "Vondelpark", which is a tour diary from one of the band's trips to the Netherlands. The English dream pop band Vondelpark took their name from the park.

Windmill View
15 Zeeburgerdijk
De Gooyer is a windmill in Amsterdam located between Funenkade and Zeeburgerstraat. It is the tallest wooden mill in the Netherlands at 26.6 meters high. It is registered as a National Monument. The names dates from the around 1609, when the mill was owned by Claes and Jan Willemsz, two brothers from Gooiland. It is also known as "The Funenmolen" ("The Mill on the Funen"). The Gooyer consists of a stone foundation topped by a wooden octagonal body. The mill is owned by the municipality of Amsterdam and is not open to visitors. Although the blades are functional, they no longer operate any grinding mechanism. Next to the mill, in the former municipal bathhouse dating back to 1911, is the Brouwerij 't IJ. The mill and the bathhouse building are unrelated, and the mill fulfils no function for the brewery despite the image of a mill being in the brewery logo. History The original mill was constructed in the 16th century. After destruction and some movements, in 1725 the mill stood on the site of the current Orange-Nassau barracks. Finally, in 1814 the mill moved again to its current location on Funenkade atop the stone base of a watermill that had been demolished in 1812. This mill is the last of 26 corn mills on the bastions of the 17th century walls of Amsterdam. The location of the mills was at that time very favourable as the outskirts of town provided ample wind. After the mill had fallen into disrepair, it was purchased in 1928 by the city of Amsterdam for 3200 guilders and restored. Due to the lack of power during the Second World War the mill served as a corn mill for Amsterdam. The sails were damaged on November 13, 1972 during a storm. The upper shaft broke and the blades embedded in the adjacent Nieuwevaart. Some years later the original, old Dutch type blades were restored.

Amsterdam is famous for its canals, beautiful houses, 'coffee' shops and Red Light District, but there's plenty more to this liberal city than most visitors realize. Amsterdam inner-city is busy, crowded, noisy in high seasons, depends where you are and what you want to see or do. For shopping and entertainment you can also go to: DE PIJP or DE JORDAAN. Rent one of my ( 3 ) bikes, for easy get around in town. * Oud Zuid (South) / DE PIJP : Best places to stay in Amsterdam on a budget. * De Pijp : ( the North of De PIJP ) Best places to stay in Amsterdam! Stay in the coolest Amsterdam neighborhood for : Entertainment, shopping small rare souvenirs, eat tasty food, enjoy all those tiny terraces outside, cute tiny cafes with locals, a lovely nightlife in almost every street around my corner, Heineken experience a 5 min.walk, end of mystreet at both sides are the canals. And 5 famous Museums on the corner, just a 6 min.walk to Van Gogh museum from your room, all together good for 4 to 7 days to stay. or a stoll to the Vondelpark. …………………………….. * Jordaan or Inner-city: The Coolest Place to Stay for a day or two max. if you like 'coffee shops' & crowded noisy streets in Amsterdam, or if you like small steep stairs to carry all your luggage up to the thirth floor or rooftop, or tiny rooms to stay and sleep at night, for a high rate a night, and crowded streets at daytime, and noisy streets at night, and more expensive shops, for things you don't need at all, then THIS IS THE PLACE to visite in 2020! LOL Of course there is a lot of beauty, some streets are silent and houses are beautiful restorated. Canals to see. Enjoy your sight seeing from the canals.

Fun facts about Amsterdam - Did you know that? Bikes in Amsterdam: It is true that there are more bikes in Amsterdam than inhabitants. There are roughly 900,000 bikes. This is much more compared to 800,000 (a bit more) people, who live in Amsterdam. Coffeeshops in Amsterdam: Since 2014, there are around 185 Coffeeshops in Amsterdam, stretched out over the whole city. Amsterdam’s Canals: Did you know that there are around 165 canals in Amsterdam, which are almost as many as in Venice with 177 canals? Amsterdam’s Bridges: Sources vary in regard to the number of bridges in Amsterdam. There are between 1200-1700 bridges in Amsterdam, while in Venice there are only 409, connecting those 177 canals. Nationalities: Amsterdam is home to lots of different nationalities, over 180 to be exact. That is incredible for such a “small” city. Therefore you can find lots of different spoken languages, easily to connect with others and find your way around the city without problem. Houseboats: One main attraction of Amsterdam is their houseboats. More than 3000 houseboats are home in Amsterdam and stretch out over their canals. Amsterdam’s Nicknames: ADAM or DAM is short for Amsterdam. The city has lots of nicknames, for example “Venice of the North” because of the number of its canals. Another known nickname is “Jerusalem of the North” because of its previous high population of Jewish people. Schiphol Airport: Amsterdam’s airport Schiphol is 4m below sea level. In case this rises, there might be no airport anymore but a port instead. Black Houses: Did you know that the black houses are in honor of the people, who previously lived there and got infected during the plague? And not because the current owners like that color. Architecture & Houses: Have you noticed that many houses are built inclined? That’s because in former times those houses used to be warehouses where goods were stored and pulled up. In order to leave no damage to the buildings on the way up, houses were built slightly inclined. Amsterdam is famous for its canals, beautiful houses, 'coffee' shops and Red Light District, but there's plenty more to this liberal city than most visitors realize.

This ticket, valid for a specific timeslot, is the only way to get in fast. See the largest collection of Van Gogh's paintings, plus works by many of his contemporaries, and trace his fascinating development as an artist. The permanent collection of Van Gogh's works in the museum displays over 200 of his items, including his serene landscapes, beautiful still lives and compelling drawings and letters. Seen together, they cast a revealing light on his extraordinary life. Don't miss his legendary painting Sunflowers and his eccentric self-portraits. The museum also showcases works by some of Van Gogh's contemporaries — including Gauguin and Monet — that put his paintings into a broader context. Besides the permanent collection the museum also exhibits seasonal expositions, which show various aspects of 19th-century art history. ………………………………………………………………… 2 ) * - Rijksmuseum 3 min walk from Van Gogh Museum Rijksmuseum is a Dutch national museum dedicated to arts and history in Amsterdam. The museum is located at the Museum Square in the borough Amsterdam South, close to the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Concertgebouw/ Highlights Get up close to 8,000 objects across 80 galleries, including renowned Dutch masterpieces like The Night Watch by Rembrandt and The Milkmaid by Vermeer One of the most visited museums in the Netherlands, the Rijksmuseum can have lengthy ticket lines – luckily our handy tickets get you in via the Fast Lane! It's not just paintings – the Rijksmuseum also has sculptures, an exhibition of clothing and weapons, and one of the finest libraries you'll ever see. The last time it was worked on, Rembrandt's Night Watch lost a couple of centimeters on all four sides – just to fit a frame. This time, you can keep a close eye on it during its public restoration at the Rijksmuseum. Years of gathered dirt (which gave the painting its nocturnal appearance, rather than the intended daytime setting), being slashed in 1911, and an acid attack in 1990 have left the Night Watch with some scarring. This massive public restoration sees a glass enclosure built around the enormous painting, as experts work on uncovering hidden truths beneath the layers of dirt and patchwork paint jobs. Be a witness to the most ambitious year-long restoration project of the 21st century during your Rijksmuseum visit. The Rijksmuseum also offers an excellent multimedia tour app that can be downloaded straight to your smartphone. Check it out on the App Store or Google Play! DE PIJP. Van't Spit. At my street: Frans Halsstraat Best roasted chicken! Just a 30 footsteps walk from your room! Best grilled chicken we’ve ever eaten!! A formerly working-class neighbourhood, today ‘DE PIJP'' is home to a multicultural community and the city's largest market. The colorful sights and scents of the Albert Cuypmarkt are sure to delight and the area teems with charming ethnic restaurants, cosy brown cafés and trendy bars and terraces. With two locations in Amsterdam, Van ‘t Spit has become a new mainstay for those who find juicy, roasted chicken irresistible. The menu is quite simple: you have the option of sharing a whole chicken or a half a chicken with some comfort-food sides to accentuate the meal (think frites and coleslaw). Every chicken is grown and raised in Holland in animal-friendly conditions, without antibiotics. Besides that they also serve a tasty French apple pie, ordering that one is always a good idea.

Cafe van Puffelen. Cosy old style restaurant, bistro. Restaurant Cafe van Puffelen is located on the Prinsengracht. In the middle of the Jordaan district, in the area around the characteristic ’Negen Straatjes’ (nine little streets): we couldn’t have had a better location. Once just a small and authentic Amsterdam ‘bruin cafe’ (brown bar), but after a couple of expansions Restaurant Cafe van Puffelen has become a hotspot in the city and a place that every ‘Amsterdammer’ knows. Therefore, Van Puffelen is visited by a variety of people: from locals to students and from tourists to families. Restaurant Divided over two monumental canal houses, in Van Puffelen you can enjoy a relaxed and tasteful dinner in the restaurant and have a drink in the cosy bar. The restaurant has a stylish but intimate atmosphere and the menu offers a variety of ‘honest’ dishes: fish, meat, vegetarian and optional vegan dishes. The kitchen serves a wide range international inspired cuisine which is carefully put together by our head-chef Tom Jaasma who creates the dishes personally with his team. The wine list is just as international and diverse. You can see our menu here. Van Puffelen is also very suitable to welcome large(r) groups for a special three course dinner, a buffet or a delicious lunch. Please visit our group page for more information. Van Puffelen has a ****-rating on Tripadvisor. Yourlittleblackbook reviewed us as ‘Great gastrobar food. Affordable and seasonal. A perfect spot for a glass of red wine and bitterballs after a shopping spree.’ Read the full restaurant review here. Bar The cafe is the place where it all started in the eighties: a ‘bruine kroeg’ (brown pub) with a few tables. The bar still breathes this atmosphere of a genuine Amsterdam pub. You can choose from a wide selection of draft beers. Van Puffelen is the place for an evening with beers and friends, to have lunch on the canal side terrace during a sunny summer day, or ‘borrelen’ (to have drinks) with, of course, typical Dutch bitterballen (dutch meatballs). The bar is also thé best location in the center of Amsterdam to have a birthday party or a graduation party. Restaurant Cafe van Puffelen is open for dinner and drinks daily and for lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
