Then you'll be in Old City. You can then make a right (with the river to your back) and go see the colonial Philadelphia sites.

About 20 minutes from Fishtown, but a lovely hike on an old carriage road along a beautiful creek. The only hill climb you'll get in Philly. Forbidden Drive (the old carriage road) is one of my favorite bike paths. You can stop along the route at Valley Green Inn.
