Beautiful trails, well kept and well marked. Little hills, shaded forests and meadows. Dog friendly but dogs must be kept on a leash and waste has to be picked up and carried out again.

This preserve isn’t very big and has beautiful shaded trails along old stone. It can be reached by foot from the Lake House (15min).
Walk down Lake Drive, pass the public beach until Bellamy Lane. Cross over and enter the Historic Cemetery. The preserve’s trails start at the very back of the cemetery and will lead you to the Bellamy Ferriday House & Garden (about 20-30 minutes depending on the trail you choose)

Walk down Lake Drive, pass the public beach until Bellamy Lane. Cross over and enter the Historic Cemetery. The preserve’s trails start at the very back of the cemetery and will lead you to the Bellamy Ferriday House & Garden (about 20-30 minutes depending on the trail you choose)
Nice short look (about 1.5 - 2 miles) and mostly shaded on former Columbia University grounds. The tower is very sturdy and open and has great views.
