“"Schönbrunn Palace was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. The 1,441-room Rococo palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historic monuments in the country. Since the mid-1950s it has been a major tourist attraction." (Source: Wikipedia) Honestly even if you don't feel like visiting another museum, just going there and have walk around in the gardens on a sunny day is lovely way to spend your time. I highly recommend to go there with children, they get to dress up as knights and princesses while visiting the children museum. ”

“Located at the very heart of Vienna, you won't be able to miss the Stephansdom (St. Stephens cathedral or "Steffl", as the locals call it). There are nice guided walking tours where you can see the catacombs underneath and take a lift up the rooftop - great!”

“St. Stephen's Cathedral is the symbol of Vienna. Construction commenced in the 12th century. Today, it is one of the most important Gothic structures in Austria. St. Stephen's Cathedral is 107.2 meters long and 34.2 meters wide. It has four towers. The tallest of these is the south tower at 136.44 meters. The tower room, from which there is a gigantic view across Vienna, is reached via 343 steps. A total of 13 bells hang here. However, the best-known bell of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Pummerin, is located in the 68.3 meter-tall north tower. It is the second-biggest free-swinging chimed church bell in Europe. On the roof of St. Stephen's Cathedral, colorful roof tiles were laid to create the Royal and Imperial double-headed eagle and the coat of arms of the city of Vienna. The interior of St. Stephen's Cathedral was changed again and again over the centuries, right through to the Baroque period. A visit to St. Stephen's Cathedral is a must for every visitor to Vienna. In addition to valuable altars and side chapels, the impressive cathedral treasure can also be seen, including relics decorated with gold and precious stones, monstrances, liturgical texts and books as well as vestments. Numerous important people were also given their final resting place in St. Stephen's Cathedral: Emperor Friedrich III. was buried in an impressive marble sarcophagus. The tomb’s cover slab alone weighs eight tonnes. Prince Eugene of Savoy has his final resting place in a private chapel. And famous names buried in the catacombs of St. Stephen's Cathedral include the Habsburg duke Rudolph IV. “the founder", who laid the foundation stone for the Gothic reconstruction of the cathedral in 1359. In addition, the graves of Vienna’s cardinals and archbishops can be found in the catacombs.”

“If you came to Vienna in winter time, or to be more precise mid November and end of December, you have to visit, experience and enjoy the vast variety of Christmas markets that Vienna has to offer. Here is a small selection (in no specific order): Rathausplatz - this one is for sure the most famous one but by far not the best. Am Hof & Freyung - right in the heart of the first district, perfect place to stop by for a Glühwein after some historical sightseeing Schönbrunn - you couldn't ask for a better backdrop than the majestic castle Karlsplatz - offers a diverse children's program and above all handicrafts to buy. Spittelberg - close to the busy shopping street Mariahilferstrasse, hidden in the little winding streets. Museums Quartier - It's not your typical christmas market, offering DJ sets on special days and in general catering to a more younger vibrant crowd. ”

“The architect and artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser was a rebel. His vision was the free architecture for all, without standards, specifications and straight lines. Everyone should have the opportunity to create a small paradise on earth. ”

“This 99-hectare (245-acre) park, in the 22nd District between the Danube Canal and the Alte Donau (Old Danube), was converted in 1964 from a garbage dump to a park with flowers, shrubs, and walks, as well as a bird sanctuary. You'll find a bee house, an aviary with native and exotic birds, a small-animal paddock, a horse-riding course, playgrounds, and games. An outstanding feature of the park is the Donauturm (Danube Tower), a 253m (830-ft.) tower with two rotating cafe-restaurants from which you have a panoramic view of Vienna.”
