“Founded in 1718, the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory is the second-oldest in Europe. Now as then, porcelain is made and painted by hand. This makes each piece unique. The designs of Augarten porcelain have been created in cooperation with notable artists ever since the manufactory first opened its doors. Artists of all epochs have designed masterpieces - the spectrum ranges from Baroque to modern over more than 25,000 products. The “Viennese Rose” is a famous decoration from the Biedermeier period, while the world-famous melon service was created by Josef Hoffmann in 1929. Young designers work on modern shapes and reduced decoration, while simultaneously continuing the 300-year-old tradition. Individual customer requests are also implemented to perfection. The elegant porcelainware can be purchased in the store of the porcelain manufactory or at the flagship store in Vienna city center.”

Zoo
“This zoo is one of the most popular sights of Vienna, for both young and old travellers. It is far away from being a tourist trap, its popularity is just coming from the marvelousness of the spot, the gardens, the architecture, the animals - all leading to a perfect zoo experience. The zoo or "Tiergarten" is dating back to the 18th century, being the personal collection of exotic animals of the reigning family. It is part of the even bigger baroque Schönbrunn park which has a size of 160.000 m2.”

“Close to Hofburg and Heldenplatz it is one of the most beautiful parks in Vienna. You will find more than 200 different roses and when they are blooming the smell is incredibly nice. It's also nice for a short morning run as it is close to the appartement.”

“The Volksgarten and Burggarten are close by and you can reach them by food. I love the Rose garden and like to sit in the grass in front of the Theseus Temple. These gardens ("Burggarten") were once the private gardens of Emperor Franz Joseph I., the husband of the Empress Sisi. In 1919, three years after the monarch's death, the Burggarten was opened to the public. The gardens of the Imperial Palace also contain the Palm House, one of the most beautiful art nouveau glass houses. This tropical oasis includes the Butterfly House where hundreds of exotic butterflies reside today, along with a very atmospheric coffee house and restaurant.”

“Schönbrunn Palace One of the most significant cultural landmarks in the country, the Schönbrunn Palace is a stunning imperial residence built in the late baroque style of architecture. Boasting 1441 rooms, it was the summer residence of the Habsburg monarchs. The palace is one of the most visited sites in the city. As well as having great historical significance, it also has a beautiful location with plenty of extravagant gardens and walkways. The palace is also home to the Schönbrunn Zoo, one of the oldest in the world.”

“The Türkenschanzpark on the outskirts of Vienna is a park that is important both in botanical terms and because of its layout. This park is also one of the earliest examples of public/private partnership in Vienna: Türkenschanzpark was built by local citizens together with the neighbouring "Wiener Cottage" settlement and was only later taken over by the city. In 1883 a committee was established to oversee the "establishment of a public park on Türkenschanze". The park was built between 1885 and 1888 under the supervision of city gardener Gustav Sennholz (1850 to 1895). Emperor Franz Joseph I gave the address at the festivities marking the park's opening on 30 September 1888. The park's name comes from the designation for the area derived from the historical Turkish entrenchments found at the site. After 1892 the park was managed and extensively remodelled by the City of Vienna. At this time the pond was added, and from 1905 to 1909 the park was significantly expanded with the project led by director of urban planning Heinrich Goldemund and municipal garden director Wenzel Hybler. The attractive park railings also date back to this period. The Türkenschanzpark today Today a suburb boundary goes through the park. Türkenschanzpark is known for its interesting, rare botanical plants, which are extremely picturesque features in the undulating landscape. The unusual makeup of the landscape is another of the park's appealing features. Hills are interspersed with meadows, and meandering paths invite the visitor to take a stroll. For reasons of safety, the historical water tower "Paulinenwarte" was renovated and has been open to the public since July 2010.”
