“My favorite thing about the Dallas Zoo is the animals always seem happy. It has great shows, zoo food standards, and a monorail ride that is very educational. Don't miss the Simmons Hippo Outpost or the Gorilla Exhibit that is home to some of the most endangered Gorilla's and two new"ish" babies born back to back in 2019. They are certainly happy! ”

Beach
“Who doesn't love spending time on the beach?! Padre Island National Seashore is a national seashore located on Padre Island off the coast of South Texas. In contrast to South Padre Island, known for its beaches and vacationing college students, PINS is located on North Padre Island and consists of a long beach where nature is preserved. Most of the park is primitive, but camping is available, and most of the beach is only accessible to four-wheel-drive vehicles. All but four miles is open to vehicle traffic. PAIS is the fourth designated national seashore in the United States. North Padre Island is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world. The national seashore is 70 miles long with 65.5 miles of Gulf beach. PAIS hosts a variety of pristine beach, dune, and tidal flat environments, including the Laguna Madre on its west coast, a famous spot for windsurfing.”

Nature Preserve
“Hamilton's Pool Nature Preserve is a true natural wonder of the Texas Hill Country. What makes this place special is the 50-foot waterfall that flows from concave limestone cliffs into the pool below. Reservations are required and usually book up fast so it is best to plan ahead. Keep in mind that the hiking trail to the pool is a quarter-mile and is steep and rugged with uneven steps and takes about 30 minutes to get there. Hamilton Pool also does not allow pets, fires, fishing, camping or biking in the park. 32-minute drive - 17.6 miles away 24300 Hamilton Pool Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620”

Trail
“An Arkansas icon, this special place nestled in Lee Creek Valley was selected as a state park site in the 1930's. The Civilian Conservation Corps used native materials to build the park’s rustic-style wood and stone structures that mirror the surrounding natural beauty. It now stands as one of the most intact CCC sites in the U.S., with a legacy you can see in its trails and buildings like its original cabins. Some of the park’s unique characteristics are rock formations and caverns. An impressive rock dam spans Lee Creek forming Lake Devil, an 8-acre lake for fishing and boating with canoes and pedal boats for rent. The park’s hiking, backpacking, mountain bike, and horseback riding trails lead to the surrounding Ozark National Forest. Devil’s Den includes 17 cabins with kitchens and fireplaces and 6 camper cabins. The park also offers 135 campsites (44 Class AAA, 4 Class B, 13 Class C, 24 Class D [no hookups], eight hike-in [tent only], and 42 sites with hookups in the horse camp that includes a bathhouse and access to the horse trails). The park’s cafe is open seasonally. The pool is open in summer only. Also on-site is a group camp, standard pavilion, playground, store, and meeting room. Join park interpreters on hikes along trails including the 15-mile Butterfield Hiking Trail and for a variety of programs and special events year-round, like the Ozark Mountain Bike Festival held annually in the spring.”
