“Nice small place in Kalamaja area! You don't find it if you don't know the way, because it's not in the touristic area. The menu is quite limited, but what is on offer is of a very high standard.”

“A local pub called "Local" and the naming is perfectly accurate, this pub/restaurant was set up in a local commune building and mostly serves people in the vicinity and is not frequented by tourist. That said, the staff speaks English well and the menus are in multiple languages too. Our favourite is the open air garden in summer and the BBQ menu. ”

“Great example of what a neighbourhood restaurant should be like. Not the cheapest of the outer-old town bunch, but the ambience and cousine are both great. ”

“This grand, baroque palace built for Peter the Great in 1718 now houses the Art Museum of Estonia's foreign collection. A trip to Tallinn isn’t a trip to Tallinn without a visit to the northern Baroque palace. Designed by Italian architect Niccolo Michetti, the palace and surrounding manicured gardens are a humbling example of Tsarist extravagance. In its current role as the Kadriorg Art Museum, it displays hundreds of 16th- to 20th-century paintings by Western and Russian artists, as well as prints, sculptures and other works. While here, don't miss the decadent, two-storey main hall, with its elaborately painted ceiling and stucco work, or the room used as an office by Estonia's head of state before the nearby Presidential Palace was built. Surrounding the Palace are several interesting palace side buildings. For example, the restored kitchen building houses a cosy art museum called the Mikkel Museum, and the humble summer cottage is the Peter I House Museum. The palace governor’s house (the castellan’s house) is now home to the Kastellaanimaja Gallery and the Eduard Vilde House Museum.”

“The most popular nightclub in Tallinn, near the Freedom Square, is exclusive in both its interior and concept. Live entertainment every Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. On both nights, guests can attend parties in three halls with different music. The main hall mostly plays the current popular songs, and the VIP rooms play R'n'B and disco music. A VIP-ticket includes a welcoming drink and access to the Moët and House VIP-rooms. Dress code is smart casual and this means that guests in sports clothes and footwear will not be let in. The age limit is 21 years.”

“St Olaf's Church in Tallinn, the city's biggest medieval structure, took its name from the sainted Norwegian king Olav II Haraldsson. The church was first mentioned in 1267. It became one of the main churches in the Lower Town and formed its own congregation, which at first mostly comprised Scandinavian merchants and craftsmen and few Estonians. The evangelical preachings of the then chaplain of the church, Zacharias Hasse, led to the start of the reformation in Tallinn in 1523. Did you know...? *Lightning is known to have struck the tower of the church around ten times, three of which led to extensive fires – in 1625, 1820 and 1931.”
