Kelly was soooo helpful in the lead up to our trip to Solomon, answering loads of questions, helping book our ongoing trip to another island, reassuring us about safety etc. Then during our stay her husband Rupert was super welcoming and made us feel at home, he even dropped us at the boat when we left and gave us heaps of advice. We really enjoyed our stay! We took a taxi from the airport, got our bearings and then we used the local buses to and from town for only $3SBD and were totally safe. There was security on site and the restaurant there is handy or there are nice restaurants in town :) I really recommend to hire a scooter and drive west to the beaches and villages! The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. The food was amazing... I was very lucky as the restaurant was normally closed on the night I was in Honiara but had opened especially for a large group :)

Charming place directly by the ocean, super friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed my stay there, especially the kayaking trips. The food in the restaurant is good as well.

The room was great, next to the sea. Kelly is one of the best-organized hosts I have had. There was a plate of fresh fruit, water, milk and cereal waiting for me in the fridge when I arrived :)

If somebody was to win a prize for utmost patience, it would be Kelly. She helped me big time in unfavorable circumstances. That was extraordinary. The place has got great big beds, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. Good vibes. The cafe is open Wed through Frid, and I can recommend the veg pasta. It is a bit out of central Honiara, but one of the numerous vans is taking you there for 3S$, not even 50cents US. The area is still lively, at day and night, though no hustle-bustle, fortunately.

Hey, Kelly! Thank you for the wonderful stay. It was indeed one of those most memorable of the island groups. I really admire you putting down roots in the Solomons and setting up this nice, laid-back guesthouse. Your staff were so attentive and always with smiles on their faces. I especially loved the food! Nice and cool little place by the sea in Honiara..

Delniah was fantastic. Your home was lovely and we enjoyed some of the best coral reef snorkelling we’ve ever done. Kids disappeared each day to dive and play with the locals. We loved access to the canoes and I took out the Kyak to the nearby island on a smooth day. Tokapae was great and took us on a tour to the islands more than once. He patiently followed us in the boat as we snorkelled along the coral gardens. Tokapae and Delniah was so helpful in getting us on the Fair Glory on our return trip. We had a fantastic holiday. Staying at the Lagoon house was one of our biggest highlights of our Solomon Islands trip. The location was perfect, just a few metres away from the beautiful sea and within walking distance of the lovely, unique local village. Wendy and the girls were genuine, extremely helpful, friendly and enjoyable to be around. The food without doubt was the BEST we've had throughout our trip. Prior to setting off, we were in contact with Wade (Wendy's partner) who gave us bucket loads of information, which helped with the plain sailing of our trip (pun intended!). The communication was second to none. We had such an amazing time staying at the Lagoon house, and would highly recommend it to any adventurous folks out there looking for an unique experience. The Lagoon house was excellent and I very much enjoyed my stay. Wendy and everyone else was really nice and made me feel very welcome. I opted to have food purchased and prepared for me during my stay and it was well worth it, being affordable and much easier than trying to do it all on my own. It's quiet and private, but the village is just a few minutes walk away. Be sure to do a lot of snorkeling and take the kayaks out, the diving is excellent, and walking around the island was great fun. Be prepared though, small electronics can be charged, but my larger tablet would not charge while I was there. If possible, bring car chargers for whatever you need to charge, as the outlets are all for car chargers. Also, the wood carvers on the island give a better price than you will get in Honiara, so take some extra cash if you want some really nice souvenirs. Getting there and back is quite a trip, and be aware of "island time". I was glad that I planned an extra day between when I was supposed to return to Australia and my next flight leaving from Australia because one of the airplanes broke down in the Solomons and my flight was cancelled, leaving me stranded in Honiara for an extra day. Overall, it's a great experience and a great way to get off the beaten path and see a place that isn't touristy yet. I was very relaxed by the time I left.

My friends & I were very well looked after by Wendy & Derwina at the very good accommodation of Lagoon Haus - it was so tranquil right by the sea!

It was wonderful living in Wade and Wendy's Airbnb. My husband and I spent 7 days of our honeymoon at the Lagoon Haus. Despite the lack of air-conditioning (which most places in the Solomon Islands don't have anyway), we found the Lagoon Haus cool and shady, especially when it rained and at night. Delniah, the housekeeper/cook is a great cook - my favourite was the local poucha salad. We had so much fresh fruit and fresh fish that we are probably spoilt for tropical fruit and seafood forever. Toka, Delniah's husband, took us on boat trips either line-fishing or snorkelling to the nearby islands Kicha and Bulo, which had world-class corals and marine life. Nathan and I had never fished in our lives, but we managed to catch some (which Delniah later cooked for meals)! We also used Wade and Wendy's kayak to head out to nearby corals for snorkelling. As in the listing, the only way you can charge any electronics is through cigarette lighter chargers. If you want to power any USB-powered electronics, make sure you bring some cigarette lighter chargers. My husband was able to source a few cigarette lighter sockets through eBay to power his tablet and to charge our cameras and mobile phones. Overall, we had the most wonderful stay at the Lagoon Haus. We made friends, and had some amazing experiences which we wouldn't have had anywhere else (such as attending a local church service, trading t-shirts for quality wood carvings, fishing with a local fisherman, snorkelling world-class reefs and interacting with locals). I would recommend this to people who are adventurous and don't mind trading in some creature comforts for a unique experience.

Staying at Lagoon Haus was an awesome experience. The house itself is comfortable, breezy, and perfectly located for an afternoon snorkle. The fishing was a blast, with both spearing and trawling ending with full bellies. We got excited and caught more tuna than we could eat, so shared our catch amongst a few families from Peava. The wildlife around Peava was spectacular. We saw plenty of different turtles, sharks, dolphins, and we even saw a white sperm whale!!! Thanks again

After two months at Lagoon Haus, I cannot recommend it enough. If you like the idea of eating fish for dinner that you caught that same day, while surrounded by fireflies, listening to the sound of waves lapping against the shore and the crunch of hermit crabs crawling across the ground- then this place will be perfect for you. The village of Peava welcomed me so generously. I learned to weave, played lots of netball, and made close friends. However, if you are looking for a secluded getaway, the house sits a few hundred metres from the main part of the village, and is surrounded by forest, so privacy is very easy to achieve. I spent many days just lying in a hammock reading my book without a single interruption. There is no shortage of things to do here. Kayaking to nearby islands, snorkelling, fishing, hiking, playing sports with the locals, visiting nearby villages, even swimming with dolphins. The house is simple, yet has everything that I could have needed. Shower (no hot water, but considering the weather, you would barely notice), a flushing toilet, electricity (the car charger style plugs were fine for charging a phone) and access to internet in the village (which is very slow and not inexpensive, but still functional). Delnia, who looks after most guests, is a wonderful cook, witty, knowledgeable and will find a way to arrange for you to do whatever you have dreamed on on your trip. Before leaving Australia, Wendy was unbelievably helpful, which was invaluable considering the limited information online about traveling in the Solomons. Overall, the most memorable Airbnb stay that I have ever had. Absolutely wonderful.

Although I didn’t meet Kelly while staying at The Ofis she was helpful with any questions I had over email and arranged a pickup for me. I stayed in both the twin and ocean view rooms they are pretty much the same as the photos, the showers are nice and hot although the ocean view one was a bit tricky to get right. The room was cleaned each day and the staff were helpful, the security aspect was fine. Food in The Ofis restaurant was excellent (especially ‘The Ofis’ smoothie) and seemed to get a number of expats dining there as well which is a good sign. It’s open Thurs/Fri/Sat evenings and Sat/Sun morning so eating out means a 4/5km trip into town (by taxi or local minibus). I enjoyed my stay and the Ofis and would recommend it.

Kelly and her crew at the Ofis were very accommodating. They really went over the top to make me feel welcome. The place is just a bit out of the main part of town, but it was a short drive or bike ride to the city center. The room is very rustic and right on the water. It has everything you need for a relaxing stay. There is no beach here, but you can wade into the water. I used one of the kayaks available and had a blast. The breakfast every morning is amazing! I would recommend to somebody not afraid to get a little bit off the beaten path.

Beautiful spot on the water, just out of town. The food is amazing, especially the breakfasts looking out over the water. Kelly was away, but always quick to respond, and all the staff were super helpful and lovely.

Beautiful little secluded room right on the ocean front, it is away from the city which can be a bad thing as taxi's are fairly expensive. All in all the cafe is right outside which had the best pizza I have had in ages. All staff were friendly and helpful and I felt very safe.

Had a taxi waiting for me at the airport on arrival and even loaned me the fare till I changed money. Nice clean room right on the water and plenty of happy faces. Nice quiet spot just out of Honiara cbd, 3 sbd bus fare.

The Ofis was an amazing place to stay overlooking the sea about a 10minute $3SBD bus ride from the city centre (the bus stop is 1minute up the road from the gate near white river's fresh fruit and vegie market). The onsite cafe is delicious and good value for Honiara and the room was perfect for what we needed with a comfy bed, ensuite and hot water. Kelly went to extra mile each time to help us out with tips for our travels, the cafe/house staff would also help us at the drop of a hat and the security guard even walked us up the road to help us get a new tyre for our motorbike when we hit one of honiara's notorious potholes. We highly recommend Kelly's place and would definitely stay again. It's perfect if you don't mind getting your own wheels or a 5-10 minute local bus to the city centre (which is a pretty cool experience).

Kelly was very responsive before during and after my stay. Compared to much more expensive hotels, the experience at The Ofis was much more satisfying. Idyllically located in a quiet part of Honiara right on the beach, there are no better options. There is even a good standard cafe as part of the complex right on the water! Good quality coffee and healthy fresh food at your fingertips, happy staff and as much privacy as you require..... Ill be staying there as often as I come to Honiara!

If you're looking for accommodation with a little more soul and personality, The Ofis is the perfect place to be. We loved hanging out in the cafe with its seaviews and local children playing along the shoreline. The water looked very enticing but sadly it was quite polluted with rubbish (not the accommodation's fault of course). Staff were also super friendly and helpful, helping us catch the bus, activate our SIM cards and answer any questions we had. The food is fantastic as well – the Ofis smoothie and fish tacos are a must-try! Location-wise, it's close to town yet far enough to be quieter, although there can still be a fair bit of noise at night. That didn't bother us though. Rooms are basic and the power can sometimes cut out but we had everything we needed and would gladly stay there again.

The Ofis apartments were a good deal for Honiara and had some great aspects. First, the staff were totally awesome and the security was very good. I definitely felt safe staying there. The cafe that is open during the evenings from Mon-Fri and all weekend is really tasty. Some of the best food I've eaten in the islands. Kelly was very good with communication and the room was very tidy and clean. So 5/5 for the staff and the owners! The problems with the Ofis are a bit out of Kelly's control. It is a bit out of town in the White River suburb. There is a club down the road that is open late on the weekends and that means there are some crazy party people on the street that can get pretty rowdy. I stayed in the large room that had good amenities but it was next to the water pump that went on and off all day and night. This would have been fine for 1 or two nights but I was there for 5 and it got a bit taxing. The other rooms would be quieter. Reasonably priced places are hard to find in Honiara and, as I said the Ofis staff and Cafe were really yum. It was great not to have to leave at night as it's not safe for woman to be out alone in Honiara after dark. Would recommend.:)

I had a great stay at the ofis, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the food at the café was great! I would stay here again. It's a little out of town but it's not hard to get a taxi and there's secure parking if you have a car.

Highlights recommended. Annie lives in a large house together with her sister June and her mother Kate. Her deck is wonderful with an amazing view. Everything was very clean and the bathroom has - amazing - warm water. The breakfast was very good and included frech fruits and fresh bakery. They picked me up at the airport and also dropped me off there. They explained me everything and showed me the most important points in the city to help myself. A really lovely Familie.

The room was spacious and quite clean and all was as per described. Note that it has an ensuite. Li was prompt and helpful with her responses. The listing is actually for a hotel room. The hotel itself is very centrally located and, for Honiara, it is reasonably priced. Interestingly all the TV channels available are of the Chinese broadcaster CCTV. I imagine that is because the majority of the guests are Chinese. Finally I would note that the room did have a smell of cigarette smoke, which is not surprising considering it is quite common in Honiara.

I had a pleasant stay at Li's place which actually a hotel room. Spacious and cozy. I got a free shuttle from the airport so I can say I cannot be happier. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby but you can easily get a 3G sim card with data at the airport on arrival.

Basic, clean, very firm (but still comfortable mattresses). Good aircon. No real services at reception, no locks in the room.

Good located accommodation for a fair price. The room is spacious and has all comfort you'll need during your stay in Honiara.

Li arranged staff for free staff airport pick-up. This is a basic hotel, more for locals than tourist. Chinese is first language. Limited English. Room was cavernous and clean. Fine air con in room. Decor is bare walls w/ bad hallway carpet. Flush toilet fine, but paper goes in bin. Shower w/ electric heater didn't function, but knee-high faucet made for easy sponge bath. Standard water temp of 26c so no need for hot water heater! Lobby wifi is free for guests, but very slow. Many others typically hang out there on-line, too. I noticed pay wifi signal in my room but I didn't inquire. To eat, I went to a posh Heritage resort hotel a few blocks away. Bought wifi there, too. Location: you are right on Honiara's (Guadalcanal's) main street, 2-10 minutes walking distance to government buildings, ATMs and a very simple national museum, plus a national tourism office across from museum with limited tourist offerings.

The room in itself is big and spacious. Had a bit of smoke odour at the start. Its in a hotel. Housekeeping does a good cleaning job daily. It's accessible to main services. I enjoyed my stay.

Massoud is a lovely man who made me feel very welcome and at home. The guesthouse is alchohol, betlnut and smoking free. It's a simple, clean and friendly place to be where you can cook your own food - the market in Auki is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Li's place was one of newly opened hotel in Honiara. The room was very wide and furnitures and amenities were all clean and comfortable. Some of electric devices were only in Chinese so it was a little bit difficult to understand but managed. Li assisted me a lot with reservations I wished I could thank her ;) anyway thank you a lot it was wonderful stay!
