“Whales of Iceland museum features one of the largest whale exhibition in Europe. The whales are presented in a unique and illustrative way. 23 different life-size models that have been seen in Icelandic territorial waters have a permanent home at the museum. The museum is in only 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre but can also be reached by one of the city buses. ”

Bus Station
“A bit further away but easily reachable by bus, is the biggest swimming pool complex in Reykjavik (and Iceland), Laugardalslaug has an olympic-sized pool, several pots of different temperature, a steambath and a large playing area with kids, including a waterslide. There's also a World Class gym adjacent to it, and a fantastic spa, Laugar (but this comes at an additional, much higher price). Also, the pool is located in Laugardalur valley, a lovely green area where nearby you can find and ice skating rank, the Asmundur Jonsson Art museum and the Reykjavik botanical garden, all clustered in the same area.”

“BSÍ serves as the central bus station in Reykjavík, and the main bus station in all of Iceland as well. From there you can get by bus to almost any place in Iceland, either directly or by changing buses somewhere along the way. BSÍ also serves as the Reykjavík end of line of the flybuses going between Reykjavik and Keflavík airport. If needed, taxis are stationed outside the terminal at all times. It has two outdoor pools and one indoor, seven hot tubs (one filled with saltwater), sauna, water slides and a beach volleyball court. It's the perfect place to go on a sunny or snowy day. Laugardalslaug swimming pool is located in laugardaglur, the heart of sports activities in Reykjavík. Around the pool are good areas for walking or jogging. During winter time this can be used for cross country skiing. A short distance from the pool is the Botanic garden in Reykjavík as well is the Reykjavík park and Zoo. Laugardalslaug - Address: Sundlaugarvegur, 104 Reykjavík - Open: Mon.-Thu. from 6:30am - 9:00pm | Fridays from 6:30am -10:00pm | Weekends from 08:00am - 8:00pm Sports facilities in the valley include running tracks, football fields and an indoor ice rink. The valley is also the location of Secret Solstice; one of Reykjavík's largest and greatest annual music festivals. Laugardalur also boasts a beautiful botanical garden featuring an impressive selection of Arctic flowers and plants. Beneath the branches of a leafy grove in the gardens, you'll find the lovely Café Flora. The Family Park and Zoo in Laugardalur is open all year. The Zoo includes most Icelandic animals, both wild and domesticated, from foxes, reindeer and seals to cattle, horses and sheep. In summer the Family Park offers many rides and play equipment for children of all ages. Outside the summer season, the Family Park remains open as a play area. At the edge of the Laugardalur valley, not far from Laugardalur Arena, is a strangely shaped, domed white building. It is known as the Reykjavík Art Museum’s Ásmundarsafn sculpture collection. This used to be the studio of Ásmundur Sveinsson (1893-1982), a pioneer of Icelandic sculpture. In addition to his works exhibited inside the museum, a sculpture garden outside contains many of his monumental works.”

Erotic Museum
“The Icelandic Phallological Museum is probably the only museum in the world to contain a collection of phallic specimens belonging to all the various types of mammal found in a single country. Phallology is an ancient science which, until recent years, has received very little attention in Iceland, except as a borderline field of study in other academic disciplines such as history, art, psychology, literature and other artistic fields like music and ballet. Now, thanks to The Icelandic Phallological Museum, it is finally possible for individuals to undertake serious study into the field of phallology in an organized, scientific fashion.”
