“A bit of a drive but two garden lovers this place is a dream! Open year-round, incredible gardens full of flowers, roses, sculpture, local wildflowers, and even a bee center! One of my favorite places in town, on your Way, drive by Paisley Park and pay tribute to Prince and see the memorabilia and tributes that continue to pepper the fence surrounding Paisley Park.”

“Wirth Park has miles of multi-use trails for year-round use. In winter, ski passes and rentals are available in the Trailhead building about a mile down the parkway from the suite. In the warm season, visit Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Quaking Bog, both south of Glenwood Avenue in the park's southern section. The area around Wirth Lake has plenty of grills and the lake is swimmable in summer (though crowded on hot days).”

“Falls Park features a rapid, gushing waterfall which flows over a basin of Sioux Quartzite rock formations. Sioux Quartzite is a reddish rock which is quarried in the area. Many historic buildings in this part of South Dakota are made from Sioux Quartzite bricks. At the Falls Park there is a few historic sights, including remains of the Queen Bee Mill and the former power plant. It is worthy to have a local expert like myself give you a tour, to make more out of your stay.”

“Located in the heart of the Midway area of St. Paul, Como Town is a family amusement park surrounded by a quaint community of 1930s-era housing. With 19 rides aimed at the younger thrill seekers, this family-friendly haven is surrounded by a 384-acre park with ample picnic and play areas as well as beautiful, paved trails that meander throughout and around the park’s centerpiece: Como Lake. Adjacent to Como Town is the always free (though donations are encouraged) Como Zoo & Conservatory, also a must-visit, with or without kids.”

Beach
“This beach is tucked away behind a tuft of trees, meaning that you can find either sun or shade pretty much any time of day. To reach it you take a gravel trail that starts near the intersection of Cedar Lake Parkway and 21st Street. We recommend parking on a side street; the lot immediately in front of the beach is permit parking only. Only outhouse available, and no water tap. A lifeguard is on duty infrequently. ”

“Tioga Pit is an old mine pit that filled with water once mining ceased. Because it's so deep and is fed by groundwater it's super clear and clean. It's fun for a dip, hanging out at the beach, kayaking, and paddleboarding.”

Beach
“This beach area is managed and owned by one of the mining companies, so it is sometimes closed to the public, yet it is truly a gem of a place to visit, swim and picnic. Two honey rock out-croppings frame the beach cove between, where you can play on the black pebbled shore or swim in the cool waters. Truly a lovely and safe place to have a picnic and enjoy some solitude. ”
