Get away from the hustle and bustle of city life! This two bedroom, one bath home is perfect for a weekend or week long getaway! Close to Heron and El Vado Lakes and Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. 40 miles to Pagosa Natural Hot Springs. Perfect for hunters too!
  • Northern NM cabin with great proximity to the scenic railroad. Spotlessly clean with unexpected extras of dish tv, wifi and a hairdryer. Pleasant stay with plenty of fluffy towels, nice sheets, firm new matresses, plenty of extra blankets. It has a bunch of little step up and downs as you go from room to room which was fine for us, but something to note for anyone with accessibility concerns. We had some intermittent water supply problems in the bathroom which the host was attentive to messages about, but seemed to attribute to community water issues.

  • Heaven on Earth! The drive to Casita de Candelaria was the beginning of a magnificent experience… time stands still as you enter a world of ginormous cliffs on one side and enchanting bodies of water on the other and you become hypnotized by the magical appearances of wild life around you. The cottage itself is adorable, clean, comfy and with many thoughtful amenities. The hosts are wonderful. I had the pleasure of visiting with Connie and Bidal over a cup of coffee and oatmeal cookies – what a delightful couple they are and what great stories they have to tell! On our next visit to Casita de Candelaria, we will check out the Brazos Fall, hike the Falls trail, eat at Three Ravens Coffeehouse and take the Cumbres & Toltec Rail. Maya Angelou said that life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. Let the stunning beauty of Northern New Mexico be one of those breathless moments in your life!

  • Quiet, homey, and centrally located.

  • Pics do not do this place justice inside or out, the view of the surrounding mountain ranges is great. Great value for this simple, rustic home, all the modern amenities you might need coupled with peaceful country living. Newly furnished and renovated on the inside. Outside is a bit rustic, but hard to beat for the price. Owner and onsite contact are both quite accommodating.

  • We enjoyed staying at Augusta's place. Her place had everything we needed and Connie was a super host! The only thing you have to be aware of is that the area doesn't offer reliable internet connection so make sure you do all your travel planning ahead of time.

A beautifully appointed Adobe home that can accommodate up to 5 guests nestled in the village of Abiquiu, which is considered uniquely beautiful and a quiet and serene escape from the every day to recharge and rejuvenate. We provide a well-furnished house that is actually my family home so you won’t find a sparsely decorated “vacation rental. We provide freshly delivered coffee, excellent wifi, and Direct TV as well as a wonderful local caretaker to help with just about anything.
My family home for the last 40 years, nestled in Abiquiu, in the beautiful Chama valley, in Northern New Mexico. Abiquiu is a quaint and eclectic gathering of both native New Mexicans and those in the know. The house was completely remodeling in 2005 from the roof to the floors. All new kitchen and amazing bathroom await you and you won't find is a hastily appointed 'vacation rental,' this is our home, and it's been beautifully appointed with an eclectic combination of modern pieces and beautiful antiques. Far from stuffy and boring, this house can be your jumping off point for all sorts of adventures in northern New Mexico, whether you're venturing into Santa Fe to peruse art galleries or headed to Taos to enjoy some fun, this house can be your idyllic escape from the hectic every day of your life. It's such a beautiful and quiet place to be where the stars at night seem to go on forever. The experience of being in the village of Abiquiu is such a unique perspective on life. It's not like the polished, touristy side of New Mexico; this house is located in the same place that people settled hundreds of years ago in a government land grant and continued with their lives. The home is just a short walk to Georgia O'Keeffe's home and a short drive to Ghost Ranch. The area brings many repeat visitors and warrants new explorations with each visit. Take a drive into the Chama River Canyon to hike, visit the Benedictine Monastery, enjoy the hot springs at Ojo Caliente or simply embrace the enchanting nature of Abiquiu - allow yourself to enjoy it all. Please know that the house is located in the highest part of the village and the road can be slightly intimidating although we've never had any issues with guests accessing the house. Also, for clarity, the main bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom and the bathroom and kitchen are also off the second bedroom. The house flows from one room to the next as with most traditional adobe homes. We recently had privacy mentioned as a concern but this is the only time this has happened but I try to be very clear with my guests so as not to mislead anyone. The house resides in a rural community consisting of dirt roads which a few guests have found surprising. They are generally in good condition for most vehicles but we want our guests to be informed of this. Please be aware that this house sits next to other homes and that there are people around and there can sometimes be noise during the day. We ask that our guests be flexible, understanding, and practice open communication when it comes to the neighbors and things such as parking and occasional noise. These are good people just living their lives, just know it's not an isolated vacation rental. If you're looking for a unique experience, this is the house for you! Please be aware that we charge a one time $25 pet fee for our guests traveling with their animals. Please let us know beforehand if you'll be bringing a pet and I'll send you a customized invoice. If you bring a pet and it is not disclosed during the booking process, we will charge a $75 fee.
It's a unique, wonderful community comprised of multi-generational families as well as many newcomers discovering the beauty and serenity of Northern New Mexico. Abiquiú is a small unincorporated town located in Rio Arriba County, in northern New Mexico in the southwestern United States, about 53 miles (85 km) north of Santa Fe. In the 1730s, it was the third largest settlement in the Spanish province of Nuevo México. Artist Georgia O'Keeffe lived there from 1949 until shortly before her death in 1986 at 98 years of age. You'll find many more highlights and interesting facts about the village with a simple internet search. Abiquiú was the starting point of the pioneering route of the Old Spanish Trail. This first route, the Armijo Route, was led by Antonio Armijo of Santa Fe, with a sixty mounted men and a caravan of pack animals carrying blankets and other trade goods to barter for mules in Alta California. Armijo's caravan left on November 6, 1829, made the journey from Abiquiu to San Gabriel Mission in eighty-six days, arriving on January 31, 1830. He returned by the same route in 56 days, leaving March 1st and arriving back on April 25, 1830. Unlike the other routes of the Old Spanish Trail, Armijo's route was documented day by day by him, although in a very brief report listing dates and stopping places with few details and no distances recorded. It was submitted to the governor José Antonio Chaves and published by the Mexican government on June 19, 1830
  • What a remarkable place to stay, just up the hill from Georgia O'Keeffe's house. Burk and his helpers are marvelous. You'll feel right at home with the neighbors in this authentic southwestern village. It's also very close to the Ojo Caliente spa where you can elegantly "take the waters" for a pittance. The house is beautifully furnished with wonderful original art and every convenience for your comfort. We had a great week and will return.

    Linda2013-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • The interior is just as beautiful and unique as seen in the pictures. This is a place created with a love for detail inspired by the art of this area and design features. It feels like somebody's well loved home. At the same time it has all the comforts you want and is equipped with more kitchen stuff than a vacationer is likely to use. Abiquiu is a small village and the house is part of the fabric of the village which has a mix of abandoned and funky houses. The roads in Abiquiu are not paved and the path to the house is uphill on a dirt road. It's perfect place from which to explore the sights of the area such as Ghost Ranch, the Echo Amphittheater, the Monastery of Christ, Plaza Blanca. It's a short work from the Georgia O'Keeffe house. The host lives in a different part of the country now, but his housekeeper provided a warm welcome and was available locally for questions.

  • A lovely home that my mother and I so enjoyed for 5 nights. Cozy, clean, stylish, charming. We watched the total eclipse of the moon over the curve of the mountain from the bedroom window! Thanks for the top notch hospitality!

  • Burk was very responsive by phone and email for last minute assistance with directions and questions. The house is great, and if you want to be right in the pueblo this is the perfect spot. One thing to note is that you have to go through the room with bunk beds to get to the bathroom. Thanks for a great stay Burk!

  • I stayed at this beautiful house in Abiquiu for a month, and have nothing but wonderful things to say. I had trouble finding the house my first day (it's a bit tucked into a corner, so it's challenging to see, even during the day), but we got everything squared away. The space is sumptuous, I felt like I was living in some kind of antique pueblo museum ~ it was also a bit chilly some nights, and the smells of neighbor's piñon fires was lovely in the courtyard. Cooking and baking in the kitchen was helpful, plenty of space to prep/etc. The master bed was super comfy, and I enjoyed having morning coffee with the front window open to overlook a bit of the Plaza Blanca. Brenda, the local caretaker, was very responsive, and made sure that all was well. Overall, I couldn't recommend this lovely house highly enough!

    Reya2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this lovely New Mexico home for the Thanksgiving weekend. It was the perfect place to spend the holidays. The town itself is really neat and it's just an hour drive to Santa Fe. I really loved the house - the wood stoves made our stay extra cozy! Burk provided a lot of information before we arrived, which was very helpful, and Brenda, the housekeeper, was very sweet. I would definitely recommend staying here anytime you're heading to New Mexico. Thanks for the great time!

  • Staying in the childhood home of Mr. Jackson in Abiquiu was magical. Driving up the packed clay road-past the last residence of Georgia O'Keefe- and through the pueblo Abiquiu was how the magic began. The casita was decorated in a very comforting fusion of Hispano, Anglo, and Genizaro elements which maintain the feeling that you are actually staying in a pueblo village. Also, the overall aesthetic of the casita is a wonderful combination of folk, antique and contemporary design elements. That being said, Mr. Jackson has equipped this casita with more than enough appliances to make your stay easy and comforting. This includes a phone and an internet connection, in that, a large portion of rural New Mexico is off the grid. Further, Brenda, who manages the property, is a gem. She can direct you to anything from farm land in Barranco, how to make a fire in the gorgeous vintage wood stoves, and where to get local regional chiles. She is an amazing resource! Also, the neighbor Dexter Trujillo is a very gracious, courteous, and helpful man. This is true about everyone we met around the pueblo. This casita can be used for seclusion with one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen. Also-because of its location-day trips to either Chama, the Taos pueblo, Espanola, and the Ojo Caliente Hot Springs were easy. Either way Bode's store at the bottom of the mesa where you turn into Abiquiu has everything you'll need. This includes organic foodstuffs as well. We got Tazo White Cumber Tea and Dr. Bronner's soap at Bode's general store!! Of course, we went to the Ghost Ranch, but we are foodies that are always looking for new exciting flavors. OMG. Like the Tewa-Spanish dialect of this region, the pueblo tribe’s cusine mixed with local hispano flavors is profoundly UNIQUE. We sampled food from Espanola to Chama through Ojo Caliente and El Rito. All within a day's exploration. Also, Brenda-and a dozen other people-clued us in to Romero's chiles in Espanola. With the chefly utensils provided in this casita we made our versions of the local fare. Eating while watching the indescribably beautiful New Mexican sunset. Totally magic!!!

  • I've been to Abiquiu many times & have stayed at a variety of places in the general vicinity, but I had never stayed in a pueblo. It was a lot of fun & the neighbors were friendly & polite. Burk's house is just perfect. It fit 2 teenagers & 2 adults quite nicely. We spent a lot of time at the big table when we were home. The remodeled bathroom is gorgeous! It was close proximity to everything we were looking to do in the area, as well as day trips to Taos & Jemez Springs.

Five minutes from the Georgia O'Keef Welcome Center, the small apartment is completely independent but attached to my home. Well appointed kitchenette, living room with pull out sofa, loft with queen, pillowtop bed. Private yard with hot tub, 60 feet from the Chama River. Infrared sauna in nearby compound shared with other guests. Deck on the river also shared. View from the loft is exceptional. Two people can be comfortable while 4 can squeeze in using the pull out sofa.
Apartment on the banks of the Chama River, in a beautiful passive solar adobe home. The home blends ancient building techniques with modern design. The fusion is innovative, and comfortable. Abiquiu abounds with walking and biking trails, some to petroglyphs and Anasazi ruins, others through worlds of red rock cliffs. Let the river murmur as you fall asleep in the loft. For families or groups the common room has a queen size sofa bed with a memory foam topper. Soak in the hot tub while looking at the stars. You can schedule an appointment for healing body work in the glass house at the river's edge. The lack of TV reception encourages you to free yourself from the demands of the electronic world. (WiFi and a landline are available for those who need to or wish to stay connected.) Children are welcomed and provided with a playground--though most find feeding chickens and throwing rocks in the river the best entertainment
At the river's edge in the high desert. Five minutes from the Georgia O'Keeffe home. Thirty-five from Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. Ten minutes to Abiquiu Reservoir. Fifteen minutes from Ghost Ranch. Five minutes from Abiquiu pueblo. Carson National Forest across the road, Santa Fe National Forest across the river. Dining options are somewhat limited in the immediate area: the general store and deli, the Abiquiu Inn, Mamacita's Pizza. Great general store 5 minutes away.
  • OroLynn's house by the river is not to be missed if you are in the Abiquiu area. It is about 20 yards from the bank of the Chama river, and is like a Georgia O'Keefe landscape brought to life. The passive solar design makes the house very cozy, even through a cold, windy night. OroLynn was very accommodating and made us feel right at home. We wished we could have spent more time there.

  • What an amazing place to stay! Everything was well thought out, cozy and inviting. Goldie was an amazing host and was even kind enough to let us wash some dirty clothes with her personal washing machine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone I know who is traveling through.

    Russ2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • OroLynn's place is perfect on so many levels. For those who seek to get out of the city while still being immersed in the history, nature, and beauty of Northern New Mexico, this place is a great option. Her small, yet smartly designed home, has a natural and welcome feel. Day drives yielded the expected waltz through history; ancient caldera, pre-Colombian dwellings, spanish ruins, art movements, nuclear research, back to earth movement, baby booming influx... fantastic! Furthermore, OroLynn brings a natural feeling to the experience. She's a gracious and kind host who clearly allows you to feel like you're a local as well. Thanks OroLynn, we'll be sure to swing by again. - lyn

  • My host was very accommodating and helpful. She met me at the roadside so I could easily find her home. She offered me ideas of things to do. I enjoyed her company and enjoyed my privacy at the same time. She helped me to understand more about the area which is a great location: right on the river. You could observe the evening lightning behind the mountains. The was very comfortable. I loved the 'open' shower that overlooked the river and mountains. If possible try to schedule time for her body work.

    Margaret2014-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • OroLynn gets 5 stars. A friendly, charming hostess. Welcomed us at agreed time. Showed us all the interesting features - comfortable bed, interesting bath and shower, kitchen works, etc. All with river view and natural music of the Rio Chama rolling by about 50 meters away. Riverside deck with chairs where we sat viewing the river, humming birds, blue herons, raccoons, ducks, rabbits, etc while reading Khalil Gibran’s poetry and philosophy from “The Prophet” and enjoying local micro-brewery Scotch Ale as the Rio Chama rolled by. At night there was the outdoor Hot Tub/Jacuzzi under the stars with the fireflies and a sip of brandy. Location is rustic and quiet but not too far from the main road. Bode's General Store a short drive away for provisions. And the Abiquiu Inn serves a small but well prepared and tasty selection. Altogether a 5 star experience. Pat & Marilyn

  • Orolynn's home is a true sanctuary. I must be honest, this is and has been for many years my dream place to live, so I was already bias. And, that said it is such a gift to be able to share the beauty and tranquility of this space. Orolynn was gracious without being intrusive, and it was very easy to be there. If you desire a glorious place on the river, with an outdoor hot tub, sweet cats, the neighbor's horses smelling divine, and the river, come and stay.

This is a 620 sq foot cabin with kitchen, bathroom, livingroom, fireplace and queen bed my husband built. The cabin is in a narrow valley, on a hill & surrounded on 3 sides by National Forest (great hiking possibilities in summer). We are 10 miles south of Pagosa Springs in a neighborhood adjacent to Hwy 84 (west) and an easy drive to our local ski resort (Wolf Creek). The best hot springs in the world await you in the town of Pagosa!
Our home and adjacent Airbnb cabin is located at the end of Aspen Road on 35 plus acres in Archuleta Canyon and we are surrounded on 3 sides by National Forest! The Airbnb cabin is located in the Lower Blanco neighborhood (335) that is just west of Hwy 84 (close to mile marker 19). Many visitors from the south pass right by our neighborhood on their way to and from Pagosa Springs and the Wolf Creek Ski Resort. We picked this area to live because of the direct access to the National Forest. It is our respite after a hard days work to come home to tranquility and nature.
We choose this place for it’s quick access into the National Forest and the peace and quiet. The night time sky is like something most city folks don’t get to enjoy. Spectacular! We live on a south facing hill so we get wonderful passive solar heat going on.
  • Absolutely adorable, amazing host, and beautiful scenery. It was the perfect getaway weekend for us. From the chocolate to the hospitality this place was nothing less than 5 stars!

  • This place is indescribable... it is a feeling... no words needed. So Calm and spiritual with ominous pine trees gently towering over. Cabin is imaculent, cozy and comforting.

  • It’s a very nice cabin secluded in the woods near Pagosa Springs. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to visit. I would highly recommend.

  • This is a very nice cabin to get away for awhile. No traffic to hear just some quite time with your significant other . We had a great time . No phone service and no tv also. You do have WiFi but sometimes it buffers on your tablet or laptop if your listening to Pandora. We could see dvd movies on my laptop. Also a nice touch with the wood burning stove . You’ll really enjoy !

    Herman2018-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Linda is a wonderful host, the cabin is charming with added touches! We enjoyed our stay! Everything was just as promised and Linda gets back to you quickly.

  • Do yourself a favor and book this place right now!! This little cabin was wonderful! I only wish that we had been able to stay longer. This cozy little place sits in the beautiful wooded mountains, just a short drive from Beaver Creek and Pagosa Springs. I would highly recommend staying here instead of in town. The location is extremely serene and everything about the cabin is very purposeful and comforting, from the fire place and library, down to the fair trade coffee and hot cocoa supply. The hosts were so incredibly sweet and concerned about making the stay perfect, which was truly just the icing on the cake for an already great air b and b experience. My one and only "concern" was that both wifi connections didn't work during our stay. I would recommend that a wifi extender be added to the guest cabin so guests can connect as needed. However, it was nice for me to be forced to stay offline and disconnect for a bit.

    Tabitha2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • It's a very clean, cute place. Thoughtful accommodations. It was easy to work with the host and set everything up. You have to drive a dirt road to get to the house which will kick up some dust. I thought it was much nicer than comparably priced units in downtown Pagosa Springs and I didn't mind the drive to/from Main St.

    Neal2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is exactly as described! Private, quiet, clean and cozy! My husband and I enjoyed staying here while visiting the springs and exploring local forest land. We could not have asked for more thoughtful hosts. The space was so clean and cute! Loved all the books and special touches. We are definitely planning on staying here every time we visit Pagosa.

  • Casa De Oso by KC was completely what I expected, my guests and I had a wonderful time and were comfortable during our stay. Upon arrival KC was beyond hospitable, and took the time to show us around the house and property. KC was more than willing to answer any question via text, phone and was also a short distance away for any additional concerns. The property and surrounding area were beautiful and we had fun exploring. Definitely recommend.

  • Kc's beautiful home is located in such an amazing setting. We only stayed for a few days to attend a wedding up the road at Corkins Lodge, but I wish we could have stayed longer. Kc met us at the gate and escorted us to the house which is set back from the road. Due to recent snow melt there was a mini river running right next to the house which was so cool. The house was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. There was not a detail overlooked and you will find everything you need here to have a wonderful stay. We loved relaxing on the porch and in the comfy leather recliners! Our one year old loved the toys and games provided. The water is from a well so just be aware that it has a metallic smell. Kc provided some bottles of drinking water. The bathroom in the master suite does not have a separate door, which was a little awkward but not a problem.

    Stephanie2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I really enjoyed staying at Kc's house. It's big, clean, comfortable and in a nice area. The house was well-stocked and had everything we needed. Kc was very hospitable. We will be going back. We have great memories there. Lisa

Maybe fishing suits your fancy. 15 miles north lies Hope-well lake, a great place to catch fish..Not far is the Crususs Basin Wilderness. Hunting…. A glimpse of the past is also possible, 30 miles away. The Tol-tek Railroad holds remnants of America's history, and you can even ride on an old coal train! Of course, there is the magical place of Taos, 30 miles away as well. The liberal mentality, eclectic bars and traditional architecture will be a treat! Great restaurants also pepper the town. If you want to see the origins of the Adobe style housing, check out the Pueblo reservation which has a visitors center! Before heading to Taos, if you wish to see the off-the-grid marvel of the Earthships, be sure to check the visitors center! The original and genius architecture will be a refreshing vibe. Also, the famous Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is on the way to Taos! Standing 600 feet over the Gorge is breath-taking and not to be missed. Or maybe just a soak in the famous hot-springs of NM? Ojo Caliente, 30 minutes away, provides several types of relaxing pools to melt away in. The completely natural, more hidden hot-springs can also be found after getting some directions! The Taos Ski Valley is just 45-60 minutes away! The mountain has slopes that will challenge the pro's and excite the beginners. Alpine skiing…
  • Kenneth accommodated our late night arrival which was very appreciated. His guesthouse is private but not too remote. For rafters like me, this place is a perfect base for runs on the Rio Grande and Rio Chama. Great stay!

  • This was a beautiful , secluded place. Loved the property and the views. We could have used a few more dishes, but other than that it was great! Kenneth was quick to get back to me when I would send him a message.

    Marietta2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I only had one night to spend at Kenneth's guest house, but it was a comfortable home base for our adventures in the area. The closest grocery store we could find was about twenty minutes away, so be sure you don't forget anything! Kenneth was kind enough to give us a cup of rice to cook with the veggies we brought for our dinner. The guest house is a very large studio, with high ceilings and large windows, but still manages to feel cozy. Although we didn't have much time to spend there, it was very enjoyable for the few hours we did. The location is quiet, rural, and very beautiful, Kenneth's property included. I wish we had more time to explore the property itself! This was our first time in the area, so we drove to Ojo Caliente to visit the hot springs, and spent the following day in Taos, both about a thirty minute drive. We enjoyed our stay and believe that you will as well, especially if you love spending time outdoors or in quiet, secluded areas of our beautiful state. Sommer

  • Easy to find, beautiful views, and very quiet. Thank you for having us, Kenneth!

    Janine2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious guesthouse. Open plan with copious amounts of natural light from the numerous windows. So peaceful, private, and relaxing. Plus, you can actually see the Milky Way at night! We had a wonderful time hiking the area, and visiting nearby Taos & Ojo Caliente. Be sure to bring food as the closest grocer is in Taos, and brush up on your fire-making skills as a wood stove heats the house. The Chili Line Depot cafe is right down the road (awesome cupcakes), but no other restaurants or other facilities (aside from a P.O.) in Tres Piedras. If you like getting away from the crowd & hectic pace of life, this is the place for you. Quiet location; great for yoga, meditation, or writing, and heavenly for our fur babies as they were able to run off-leash on 400 acres. Kenneth is a caring host & will be happy to answer any questions. Bon voyage!

  • This is the most spectacular space, both inside the home and surrounding you. Kenneth is one of a kind. I felt I had been on a retreat!

    Annabel2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth was so generous to let us stay another night when we had missed the first one due to car trouble. The cabin is gorgeous and spacious, the views are stunning, the dogs loved running around the land, the sunsets were spectacular

    Lolly2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot with great views. Kenneth is kind as well as attentive. He gave me an elk steak, which I can use, since I need to put some meat on my bones! He doesn't mind my dogs. The land features great hiking trails. The house itself is spacious and clean.

  • Sid & Lynne are wonderful hosts. They are welcoming and considerate and can give great recommendations for wonderful local things to do. If you don't want to do much of anything but retreat to a quiet lovely cabin with picturesque scenery, go no further than Sid & Lynne. You won't need anything else. For our climbing friends, this is a great place to rest before smashing the Posos and the Nosos. Don't miss it. Stellar climbing. We will definitely be visiting this beautiful spot again. Sid and Lynne are the best.

  • Wonderful place that is is surrounded by national forest, stream, horse pastures and friendly people. Comfortable, clean and cozy cabin that is more guest house with friendly hosts than rustic cabin in the woods.

  • Sid and Lynne made us feel welcome from the moment we booked our weekend. They were gracious hosts and were very friendly and helpful. The cabin is as advertised and the pictures don't do the scenery justice. If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay that is off the grid, this is the place for you. We would definitely book this cabin again!

    Bryan2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • These two are the greatest. We loved meeting the hosts. As for the house: The floor to ceiling view from the bedroom is fantastic. It has everything you need to be comfortable and more, and at a great value. Very much worth a short drive from Ojo Caliente. Would definitely stay here again.

    Melissa2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to relax with beautiful views and wonderful hosts! The land, animals, and location are just fabulous. The cabin was awesome and the hosts so welcoming :) just what we needed!

  • If you want quiet and nature this is the place. Wake to magpies and hummingbirds, watch the sunrise and horses and walk down to be the only one fishing the stream. The thunderstorm we had an hour after arriving was a perfect start to the weekend. No guarantee you'll get one, enjoy if you do!

Our place is south of town on the Lower Blanco River. You’ll love the beautiful mountain view off the expansive back porch of this quiet country cabin. We welcome all: solo adventurers, couples, families and pets. This property has wifi, but the cell reception is spotty. This is perfect for a retreat from it all, but you can still checkin with the outside world if you really need to...
This is our family cabin. It is cozy and clean, but needs a few updates. The wooden furniture will take you back to bygone days. You will see the dated 1970's carpet and linoleum is coming up in places, and we are slowly updating it as we can afford. Water conservation is essential here. The water tank holds 2000 gallons, so please be conservative while showering and doing the dishes. We recommend going to one of the lovely hot springs in town and indulging in a shower there! Each upstairs bedroom can sleep 4; both rooms have built-in bunk beds and the Master bedroom has a queen sized bed, the second room has a fold out couch that sleeps 2. There is a small office downstairs with a single bed, but there is no door for privacy. The wood stove is the best way to heat the home. In the front of the house is plenty of wood, both oak and pine to keep you warm.
The Lower Blanco is a quiet community. While the cabin is deep in the valley, it is not completely private. We are located close to the road and you can see neighboring homes from the house.
  • Beautiful location, made it possible for us to have a great family vacation. We made great memories. Thank you.

    Alondra2018-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin has a very nice location and easy to find. Even though there are homes around it, it is a very quiet area. The cabin is plain and simple. You will need to build a fire in the wood stove early and it is plenty warm at night. My grand kids were in heaven exploring the entire time we were there. Pack warm clothes, it is spring & weather changes fast. Their favorite were the stairs going to the lower property. It have Grandma a good workout!

    Carol2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly what we had hoped for. Away from the busy life but not too far from civilization should we need anything. The place is amazingly cozy, the fireplace was the perfect heater, our 6-year-old daughter loved everything about the house. Easy to get settled and has the feel of a home where you can easily get lost by how beautiful the surroundings are. Ms. Jennifer and Mr. Christopher were VERY highly accommodating and flexible and communicated VERY well. Their guidance made our stay so much easier we almost did not want to go home. We will be returning some time in the Future!

    Francyn2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cozy cabin. The only way it's heated is by a wood stove, so you need to make a fire in it right when you get there. As long as you keep the fire going, the house gets very warm.

    Anna2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Space was great for our three teenagers, plenty of room, deck was amazing for sitting at dusk or early morning coffee. Views were awesome. We would totally visit again!

    Joe2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Pagosa Springs is beautiful and we were able to relax and enjoy staying at Jennifer's place. My kids and dog loved wandering over the property, throwing rocks in the river and exploring. This is a semi-rustic place which is exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed making fires in the stove- my daughter is now a pro! We went horseback riding, hiked a lot, went to the hot springs and had a great laid-back vacation.

    Ali Karen2018-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Just like being at my Grandparents cabin on the lake! The trees are great shade and the deck is amazing. So much to do in the area yet quiet and out of town. We made some great memories.

This is a Octagon structure with gas stove to cook on. It has a outhouse and outdoor solar shower. At present there is a cooler that has ice in it. More ice is available at the main building no charge as well as showers. ` Very secluded nested in Pine forest on 25 acres. Incredible views attached to my 440 acre ranch. Solar lighted with receptacles to charge phones, run small appliances, radios, etc. Outdoor enthusiast would appreciate this space.
It is a very beautiful structure designed the ultimate nomadic structure. I Kenneth design it so it comes apart in pieces. I is an approved structure with blueprints and engineer stamp.
One neighbor across highway probably. Some time his dogs roam on my land.
  • Kenneth's secluded octagon was amazing! The views over the mesa at sunrise and sunset were unreal. It's only 30 minutes from Taos and Kenneth is full of local knowledge. He provided us with more recommendations than we could accomplish in just the two days we were there, so we'll have to go back. This is a perfect accommodation for the adventurous couple looking for a private, secluded home base from which to explore Taos and the surrounding area.

  • Beautiful location and nice place.

  • This is a really neat cabin in an incredible place--the amenities are basic (for example there isn't running water but water is provided for the sink/dishes). It feels like a wonderful getaway and Kenneth's property is simply beautiful. Highly recommended if you're looking for a rustic space to rejuvenate and rest.

  • Cozy cabin tucked away in northern New Mexico. Friendly host, with lots of local tips. Beautiful views! Refreshing to the soul.

  • These accommodations turned out to be better than I expected. I enjoyed the time by myself out in the wilderness area of Tres Piedras. Peaceful and quiet, except for the breezes and birds. You can tell that a lot of love and skill went into building this very rustic, custom abode. I wasn’t able to settle in until well after dark due unexpected circumstances which brought me back into Taos after I checked in. As a result, I ended up sleeping late in the morning, and getting a slow start. Admittedly, I thought the checkout time was later than it was, and I ended up leaving 2-3 hours later the host would have appreciated. I messaged him through Airbnb with an alert that I was in process of wrapping up my stay, and I would be leaving soon. However, after sending my message I was shocked, startled and scared when the host angrily pushed the door open to my room without knocking or announcing himself, and demanded that I leave, while angrily admonishing me for staying 2-3 hours past the checkout time. This is not acceptable behavior from an Airbnb host, no matter what the circumstances. I regret that my restful time in this Airbnb home came to such a bitter ending.

Visit the startling beauty of the plateaus above Lake Abiquiu in northern New Mexico. Stardance provides a secluded experience for travelers, artists, fishermen, birdwatchers, stargazers, and more. Stardance sits above the upper Rio Chama canyons on 30 acres of trails and undisturbed natural terrain.
Stardance Lodge's Moon Casita is perfect for singles, couples, and families. It has a full tub and shower, kitchen, radiant floor heat, and a kiva fireplace.
Stardance sits below the Pedernal mountain which was featured prominently in many Georgia O'Keefe works. Many of the canyon views from Stardance trails are subjects of O'Keefe paintings. The Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu O'Keefe homes are 30 minutes from Stardance. Enjoy zero light pollution at night at Stardance, hence the name, perfect for stargazing.
  • Well, this was better than expected, even if I already thought it was going to be a lovely getaway spot. I cannot recommend this place enough if you want to be away from development, have a bit of a sense of adventure and are looking for a quiet place with EPIC views. The site is incredible with lots of places for sitting and walking, and it is easy to access with a short drive (10-30 min) of nearby Abiquiu Lake, Pedernal or broader Abiquiu attractions (Ghost Ranch, Georgia O'Keeffe house, etc.). Eric was a perfect host, present if needed. The casita itself is really well appointed, the kiva fireplace is lovely, the kitchen fully functional and the furniture comfy and in great shape. Really, this spot is a gem.

  • Beautiful location, a little difficult to find the first time. Able to see the stars clearly, There is a perfect hot tub IN THE DESERT! The place was gorgeous with local hiking on the land and location close to Ghost Ranch. Very understanding hosts with damages created by our dogs. Would highly recommend to visit!

    Mariam2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • The casita at stardance exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable and just amazing. You could not dream of a better location to get away from it all. The natural beauty of the location is unmatched. Eric and Bert are fantastic hosts as well, very warm and helpful. Will definitely go again if given a chance to!

    Christopher2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of those truly amazing places you'll only get to visit by using airbnb. It's a native American spiritual center that allows people to stay when it's not being used for ceremony and teaching. It's a little ways out of Abiquiu, but once you get there you'll feel like you've gone back to a time when the planet was young. The area and the drive out there is stupid beautiful, and it was so unbelievably quiet I think I could hear my brain working. The studio was simple and lovely, with a full kitchen, soft comfy bed and a sitting area. Eric the host couldn't have been nicer and best of all, he left yummy snacks. What more could you ask?

    Lynn2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Stardance for 5 nights in late June, early July. We chose the remoteness for a personal retreat....we were processing the loss of our beloved Harmony, our chocolate lab of 14 and a half years and wanted a place that we could meditate, journal and have time for introspection. We could not have chosen a better place for getting away. The adobe was nice, you had one large room with bed, futon/seating area, kitchen area, dining area. There was a separate bathroom and a storage room. This was one-half of the entire building, the other side being another unit with bunk beds. During our time there, we only left once to eat lunch in Abiquiu and pick up more provisions. I was concerned over the place getting too hot (no air conditioning) but it was not a problem...there was a fan we ran at times when we thought it was hotter than we wanted and it worked just fine....otherwise the place stayed comfortable even with temps outside in the 90-100 range. There is a spectacular view a couple of minutes walk outside the door back overlooking the canyon....many great places to hike and explore, rock outcroppings to sit on and the like. The place is a spiritual center with yurts, tepee frames, etc on the grounds....medicine wheels....acres of grounds that you can explore including walking down in the canyon as far as you want. Overall, the grounds, the remoteness, the views are what this place is all about! A couple of things to keep in mind---the last 15 minutes of our trip to the place is on a very rocky dirt (Website hidden by Airbnb) is drivable via standard passenger car (we did it in a Prius) but you will need to go slowly.....unless you have a 4WD, you may not want to come and go a lot so bring your provisions before you arrive....was not an issue for us since we stayed put.....also, during many times of the day, expect insects to be flying around you when you are outside...you may want to bring some repellent so as to enjoy the outdoors more. Overall, my wife and I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a remote, spiritual place to take some time in a stunning setting.

Come and enjoy the peace and fresh air of the Twin Pines Lodge in beautiful Chama, New Mexico. We offer a spacious well-kept room with a Jacuzzi tub and two comfortable queen beds. We welcome international travelers as well as folks from New Mexico and across the country. This room can accomodate up to 4 people.
Our place is a big home. It has three bedrooms with private entrance. Rooms all have private baths, microwave oven, and fridge. We also provide free wifi for our guests.
Chama is a quaint, old town with an abundance of peace. No loud noises are ever heard except for thunder and the train whistle. There is also an abundance of wildlife in the area. It is not uncommon to see herds of elk, deer, and sometimes wild turkeys. Lush vegetation and green meadows are the standard along with clear mountain rivers and mountain views.
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. Dave and Yolany are very good hosts. The room is just as advertised. We would definitely go back!

The cabin is adjacent to the San Juan River where the mountains intersect the desert on the edge of the grid. Built in 2004, it has electricity, running water, wood burning stove for heat but no cell service or internet connection. You can explore the path to the San Juan River where approximately one mile (down-river only) of private fishing access is waiting for you. Couples, families w/kids (old enough to avoid the wood stove ) + pets will enjoy the natural setting & the spectacular views.
Ski Wolf Creek and retreat to a secluded cabin along the river!
  • Our trip was phenomenal. Looked exactly like the pictures. Pretty secluded, right by the water, cabin had plenty of sleeping space along with all basic necessities (cups, silverware, plates, blankets, grill, sleds, pots, pans). Extra water is a must (he wasn't kidding about that funky smelling water) and extra wood is helpful. Will definitely be going back.

    Leticia2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really cute secluded cabin. There is no cell phone signal, which I actually loved. The family and I enjoyed quality time together without cell phones or Internet. You will receive cell phone signal about 10 minutes on your drive out to town. There is a stove top and a refrigerator. Bret offers cookware and silverware. There were 4 adults and one child. We fit great and still had an extra bed. Like I said earlier, the cabin is secluded, so the road to get there is a bit scary. I recommend a 4 wheel drive. We had a front wheel drive and drove about 20 MPH. Bret does have a landline phone there, but we were having trouble with it. We did inform him of this so I'm sure it'll be fixed. Also, Bret seems to be very laid back. We didn't meet him. He allowed us to make the cabin our home for a few days without any interruptions, which we appreciated. I texted him when we were in town and had signal- he called me almost immediately to answer my questions. Great host! This cabin is about 30-40 minutes from the city (or up town area...) where you can find fun things to do. It's about an hour from the Wolf Creek Ski Resort (which you should definitely check out if you're visiting during the winter). Btw- the people in Pagosa Springs are very friendly! Great stay for the price!

  • Very cute cabin. Beautiful views. Lovely little walk to the river. Pretty far drive to get into town. No cell phone reception at the cabin. The road is a bit rough, make sure you have a car that can handle a dirt road. The town of Pagosa was wonderful. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

  • Beautiful spot. Loved our stay.

    Erica2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cabin in the woods with an easy walk to the San Juan River. We loved it and so did our mutts. The road out from Pagosa Springs is gravel but it's well graded - we went out in a Honda Fit that has zero ground clearance and had no problems at all. All the basic amenities are there, though if you want to cook you might want to bring a few pots. There is a two burner stove, a half sized fridge and a toaster oven which met our needs entirely. Bring water to drink - the well water is great for cleaning/bathing but has a bit of a sulphur flavor. The cabin is easy to find, and only about 35 minutes from Pagosa Springs if you need groceries or anything else. Also, go to Pagosa Baking Company for excellent bread and pastry. We really enjoyed our stay and are already planning our next trip. Thanks Bret!

  • Great cabin in a very scenic area. It was a great place to get out, relax, and not be bugged by the outside world.

    Brian2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cabin located in a very quiet and private area. Perfect getaway fully unplug - no cable, no tv, no mobile service - bring some cards and board games or simply watch the fire. Delicous coffee from Vale was provided in our stay. Fun walks along San Juan River with the dogs. We brought drinking water and extra firewood (fireplace inside, fire ring outside. Paved partially. County dirt road access to cabin - well traveled and maintained during our stay.

  • Our stay at Bret’s cabin was amazing! We enjoyed the privacy, remoteness, and peace this place offered. We loved spending time at the river and so did our dogs. Thanks for a wonderful experience, Bret!

Our cabin is tucked away at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. Right outside the cabin door you can enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, and much more. You will have access to the river patio and fire pit. In the surrounding area of Pagosa Springs you can visit the nostalgic hot springs, site see at treasure falls or spend the day at Wolfe Creek on of Colorado’s most breathtaking Ski areas. If you are staying a while you can explore the Southern San Juan’s, Chimney Rock, and Mesa Verde.
Our 750-square foot tiny cabin has full amenities - a full size bed in the upstairs loft, a queen pullout couch in the living area, bathroom with shower, and a complete tiny kitchen. Access to the loft is via a steep narrow stairway. The living area is roomy enough to enjoy a movie provided by DISH TV. Verizon users will have cell service.
You will pass a handful of private homes in this neighborhood south of Pagosa Springs. You'll travel on gravel roads once you're off the highway. Our property is right on the Lower Blanco River.
  • Sherry's place is quaint and just what we needed for an night on our way back to New Mexico. The cabin is beautiful inside, all wood. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a quick thanksgiving meal. Our hosts were kind, considerate and easy to communicate . I would recommend this to anyone!

  • This place is a hidden gem. The setting is in a secluded community about 15 minutes from downtown Pagosa and is located right on the river. Sherry and Dell are great people and very welcoming. They went out of their way to make our visit memorable. The little cabin is located on their property and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We will definitely consider a return visit in the future.

  • You will not be disappointed with a stay at this sweet cabin. The Nelsons' cabin was adorable, comfortable, and made us feel right at home from the moment we laid eyes on it. The Nelsons' are generous with their hospitality and quick to respond with any question or need. I would recommend them and their cabin to anyone staying in the Pagosa area! We will definately book with them again when we return to the area.

  • Great place to go and unwind from the world. The property is right next to the Blanco river which my husband caught trout for supper! The cabin is modern with all the conveniences and clean. I hiked everyday from the cabin around the neighborhood and down the county road appreciating the beauty of this place. Short drive to town to enjoy Pagosa Springs but we spent the majority of our time at the cabin.

    Nancy2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location is absolutely perfect and the home is modern and perfect for any family getaway! The host did an incredible job stocking the house with everything you need and everything you want in a home away from home. I highly recommend this property and we will certainly be back as soon as possible.

We offer a great cabin, a stones thrown from the river on our elk ranch. Our all-season cabin can accommodate couples, or groups up to 8, and serve as a home base or launching spot for the areas countless activities. We also offer fly fishing access. Our stretch of river is all fly fishing only, catch and release, barbless hook. There is a Daily rod fee rate or Half Day rod fee rate to fish on our stretch of river. This is a separate charge from the Cabin.
Our cabin is hand built, and offers our guests the privacy and tranquility of a true mountain getaway. With a 1/2 mile of private water, available for catch and release fly fishing (for a rod fee), our guests often don't even leave our property! For those who want to explore, our cabin is perfectly located to take advantage of all of the areas activities throughout the year, including fishing, hiking, hunting, biking, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and four wheeling.
Mogote is a small town, just west of the town of Antonito. Our neighborhood is our 40+ acre piece of heaven, with the gorgeous Conejos River running through it.
  • Jim and Rhonda were fantastic hosts! Jim even brought us fire wood and made us some hot dog roasting sticks!! It was wild to hear the elk bull bugle, have the river running by in front of the cabin and the night sky was fantastic. Overall a wonderful experience that I would recommend!

    Ashley2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Jim's and Rhonda's. The cabin is in a beautiful location and the cabin is peaceful and extremely clean. We would love to return n.

  • We had an amazing weekend staying at the cabin and fishing in the property. I recommend fishing there if you after visiting. You cannot beat walking 10 feet to the river! The cabin was small but so comfy and just what we needed. The grill and fire pit were great to have dinner and spend the evening around. Just be aware finding it via GPS is tough. We will be back for sure!

    Elisa2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was wonderful. It's right on the river and surrounded by beautiful landscape. Perfect for a nice getaway out in the woods. It's also only an hour away from Taos,NM where we did some shopping and exploring. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was a fun time. Nice, friendly hosts as well. We loved it.

    Mitchell2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Rhonda's cabin was a perfect choice for a small getaway. The cabin is incredibly clean and comfortable, with lots of heaters to keep out the cold. Beds were comfortable, had 2 small fridges, and 2 electric burners. The river is right outside the cabin and there's plenty of land to walk around. The elk babies were incredibly cute! Rhonda even brought us some coffee when we told her we forgot some!

    Lillian2015-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Jim and Rhonda are great and go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. We will be returning.

    Mike2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cabin right on the Conejos. If you fish, this is the place for you! You'll also get a lot of chances to see elk, enjoy a campfire and listen to the rushing water. Enjoy!

  • This cabin is perfect for a getaway! We brought our dogs and they loved all of the open space, meeting the horses and running along the river. The cabin is small but a great setup for a secluded weekend. Our visit was during the winter and we can only imagine how amazing the cabin is when the weather is warmer. Jim and Rhonda are incredibly hospitable and welcoming; very helpful and wonderful hosts. We look forward to another visit soon!

Quiet Beauty & Big Skies at El Rito Lodge Nestled between El Rito Creek and the Kit Carson National Forest, this 3000 sq ft country retreat is close to Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, and Ojo Caliente, and has a working observatory on 6+ wild acres. **** Please note: Our home sleeps a total of 8, and there is an additional charge of $25/guest/night for more than 2 guests. ****
Tranquil. Spiritual. Secluded. Wild. Just 1 hour to Santa Fe and Taos and 20 min to Chimayo and Ghost Ranch. El Rito Lodge is a peaceful retreat from the noise and stress of everyday life. You can get away from it all without being too far away - we've got wifi, cable and reliable phone service. Sit by the clear mountain streams burbling in the front yard, walk among the Pinon, juniper and sagebrush, let the bright blue skies, and starry nights soothe your overloaded senses.
The village of El Rito is in the rugged high desert country of northern New Mexico. One of the first Spanish settlements in the area, the oldest church in New Mexico is here. Home to artists, photographers, ranchers and farmers, El Rito has that quirky New Mexico vibe. Carson National Forest - (right in our backyard) Many acres of barely-explored trails and spectacular rock climbing spots. El Faralito Restaurant - our local and wonderful folksy eatery. We recommend their green chili cheeseburgers, huevos rancheros with green and red chile (Christmas), and their must-have sopaipillas with honey Plaza Blanca Ranch - These spectacular white-rock badlands were painted by Georgia O'Keefe. Plaza Blanca was also the location of the alien ship in "Cowboys and Aliens" Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat center - Georgia O'Keefe painted a lot here. You can camp out, meditate, yoga, paint or take classes. Bode's General Store - Groceries and camping supplies. Lunches are also served. Recommended: the green chile burgers. Ojo Caliente Mineral Baths and Spa - A wonderful place to spa and relax. And eat. Sanctuario de Chimayo - in the small town of Chimayo is the famous sanctuary pilgrims visit for its healing dirt as well as Rancho de Chimayo, another great restaurant.
  • My family had a wonderful vacation in El Rito. The house was perfect and Lori was wonderfully responsive and communicative. The Celestron telescope is a fantastic instrument, especially if you hire Colin to give you a tutorial. I highly recommend this destination!

    Jill2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge was beautiful, immaculate and comfortable. The presentation on the web site was accurate and complete. Our stay exceeded our expectations. We felt like we were "guests /friends" not tenants. Amazing Kitchen set up and plenty of everything we needed. Yvonne greeting us made it feel even more welcoming.

    Chavez2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Bruce had someone meet us at the gate and show us around the house. Very welcoming. Hiking into the national forest right behind the lot was an amazing treat for a group with people rising at very different hours. Stunningly beautiful and the star viewing was mind boggling for someone coming from a light polluted city. Temperature regulation was easy with the radiant heat floors and the well stocked firewood.

    Malcolm2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our host made sure we were greeted by knowledgable, friendly neighbors at the gate to the property, even though we had the solar gate's number and knew where the key to the house was. Mary and Bruce had also left written instructions about what to do upon leaving and how to operate the remotes for the TV. The only thing we couldn't find was the trash can and recycle bin, which were out on the drive near the gate. We'd only driven past them for three days before we noticed they were there! We loved the setting and the quiet and the fact that we had the entire house to ourselves. So beautiful and quiet. It was hard to leave each day to do the sight-seeing we'd planned to do!

    Lynn2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • El Rito Lodge We zigged an zagged along the route from Albuerquerque to El Rito, but the directions to the electronic gate were very clear and even in the dark we found the entrance as we met Yvonne and Rudy waiting for our arrival. A short drive past the gate brought us to the parking area and the lit pathway took us to the kitchen entry. We were amazed at the spacious open areas of the lodge, including the dining/game room and the living room with its vaulted ceiling, welcoming furniture and beautiful New Mexican folk art and rugs. The master bedroom is spacious as is the private bath. The two guest bedrooms have ample space and shared bath. The kitchen was amazingly well-stocked including coffee and tea as well as other staples including flour, sugar, oatmeal, cold cereals and plenty of spices and condiments. We enjoyed the area around El Rito very much- we took a rafting trip along the Rio Grande, soaked at Ojo Caliente, and toured the Ghost Ranch and Georgia O'Keeffe's home in Abiquiu. A midday visit to Plaza Blanca was awe-inspiring, such that after an early supper at El Faralito (+++++), we headed back to catch the color of the setting sun on the white rocks. Yvonne and Rudy were most helpful - one of us left some clothing at the Lodge, and they helped us easily retrieve the items ! The Observatory is an amateur astronomer's delight. In addition to an 8" dobsonian - with a full complement of 1.25" eyepieces and filters, there is an 11" Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain on a pier mounted CGEM mount. There is a good selection of 2" eyepieces for the SC, along with various filters (including a 2" Celestron O III filter). There is also an Celestron 0.63 focal reducer flattner, a Celestron off-axis guider complete with a ring mount for a Canon EOS camera and an SBIG ST-1 guiding camera. You'll need to provide your own computer and appropriate software to use the SBIG camera. There is a JMI motofocus for the SC, and a Shoestring astronomy FCUSB for controlling the motofocus from your computer if you choose. The Observatory has a Kendrik dew heater and controller for the 11" SCT, as well as an unpowered USB 3.0 hub for the SBIG camera. There is a power input port, but I could not locate the 5v power supply. There is both 120 and 12 v power in the Observatory, powered by a solar system. You might find that you need to provide replacement batteries for the zero power finder or the Motofocus. I found that the local Family Dollar store carries both the cr032 button batteries for the finder and the 9 volt battery for the JMI motofocus. Bode's does not. I left a spare of each in the observatory. If you are bringing along gear that needs to be close to the scope, you should consider bringing some tape to provide temporary mounting. And, it is...

    John2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing and Bruce is a terrific host. The house is big, beautiful and peaceful. Wonderful location in the woods by a creek.

    Jennifer2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • I hesitate to write much, because, selfishly, I'd like there to be more time available here so we can return. But honestly, this is an amazing find if you're looking for the most relaxing, comfortable and hassle-free way to see this majestic part of the world, and some of the last pristine night skies left in the country. The description of the house is accurate, but to get there, you drive through the little town of El Rito, past the Mars Polar Lander (look it up), out a nondescript road, and find a gate; the GPS coordinates Lori gave were very useful here. You may not be sure what you will find, driving up the gravel lane, waiting for the neighbor's dogs to amble off it, and heading over a little bridge. When you first catch a glimpse of the house, you know you're in for a real treat. It's plenty large, situated among the trees, and you can't see and can barely hear, any evidence that you're not the only people in existence. One thing to note: pay attention to Lori's advice about supplies and gas! The house has plenty of kitchen gear and staples, but it's a 40-min round trip to the nearest small store, and 90 minutes for a trip to Española where there's larger stores. It's helpful to have a cooler with you to bring back milk and such. Despite being so secluded, and my cell connection (Verizon) being marginal at the house, it has 50 Mb/s internet that worked great for VPN into the office, (Hidden by Airbnb) and WebEx. The house is very clean, and well-stocked with kitchen gear, books and discs, comfortable places to sit, and has a good entertainment system for those times you are not exploring the outdoors. There is also possibly the best chair I've sat in recently: it's situated looking out a floor-to-ceiling window into the trees and the southeastern sky. A lovely place to watch the start of the day, if you're that kind who's up then. I came there mostly to see some of the last pristine night skies left in the US, so I wasn't sure when I got to the house, in among the trees, how that was going to work. But, out back about 500' and up a small hill, is the roll-off roof observatory, and a horizon-to-horizon view marred only by a tiny dome of light from El Rito (population 800). Limiting magnitude was at least 6, and that limit was my 60-year-old eyes, not the sky. The coolest thing is two deck chairs set up outside the observatory: bring binoculars and a coffee, and just drink in the view all night long. I got to share this with my son, as my dad did years ago with me in the Utah desert, and I know it's going to be a lifelong memory for both of us. I'd heartily recommend spending a good chunk of time in this place, getting away from the to-do lists...

    Dave2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This property was absolutely beautiful! Yvonne, the caretaker, was awesome! This was the perfect place for our family get-away! We really enjoyed our stay. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer and were unable to make use of the observatory.

  • Judy and Jerry were lovely hosts. They frequently joined us by the fire for evening chats and otherwise welcomed us almost as if we were family. The environment is wonderful, including for small, active children, and Jerry and Judy were knowledgeable about goings-on that might be exploited by families like ours. We hope to be back before long. Highly recommended.

  • What a beautiful, secluded home on the hill above Chama. The guest house with two bedrooms with queen beds, one gorgeous bathroom, a small efficiency kitchen and dining table on the spacious, covered back porch was a delight. We stayed there with our friends and enjoyed visiting and dining with Jerry and Judy - what a smart, friendly, helpful and interesting couple. We took them up on their offer of a hot breakfast and green chile cheeseburgers for dinner, and one night we prepared foil meals which Jerry helped us cook over hot coals. We highly recommend this rental.

  • Our hosts, Judy and Jerry, showed us their very welcoming hospitality during our visit. We enjoyed our stay, and we felt like we were staying with friends. Located above Chama and adjacent to the Sargent Wildlife Area, the property provided great views from the deck and the chance to take in the birds and wildlife just added to our experience. If our travels bring us back to the area, we would stay here again. We would definitely recommend this property.

  • The hosts we're very generous and very welcoming to my wife and children. The B&B is on a beautiful scenic site overlooking the Chama valley. The amount of wildlife on the property is amazing. The continental breakfast was a spread. We will definitely be back to visit this summer. Highly recommend it as a Northern NM destination. Gonzales Family-Albuquerque

  • This is a beautiful place to rest and rejuvenate in a secluded location with beautiful views in every direction. It is a quick drive to Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and fishing in the lake or river. We loved meeting Beth and her sweet dog Dakota. She was attentive to our needs while giving us plenty of space to relax. We will definitely visit this location again. We fell in love with this place.

  • If you're looking for a relaxing retreat with 360-degree views and just a short drive to Abiquiu Lake, Ghost Ranch, or into town, then this is the spot for you! The casita is cozy and had everything we needed to kick back, enjoy our morning coffee, make a few easy meals, and take in the beautiful, iconic New Mexico scenery. We were able to snag spots on a trail ride at Ghost Ranch and tour the Georgia O'Keeffe home and studio tour (tip: sign up early because both sell out), and had great meals at the Abiquiu Inn (green chile stew, chocolate pinon tart), Mamacita's pizzaria (green chile topping), and Bode's TBLTA on rye. We explored Plaza Blanca and drove along the Rio Chama, too - just so many gorgeous spots within a quick drive. But, the casita is so peaceful and dreamy, you might just want to stay put and spend your entire vacation right there. Beth is a perfect host, and we always smiled when her dog Dakota came to the screen door to say hi!

    Karyn2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent an amazing couple of days at Beth's casita. The location must be seen to be believed, and those windows are really something else. The casita itself was comfortable, clean and well-stocked, and Beth and Dakota were excellent hosts! It is truly worth the out-of-the-way journey there. Highly, highly recommend!

  • Amazing location and views. A powerful piece of land and a peaceful place to rest, relax, rejuvenate and write. Beth is a wonderful host full of information and conversation and happy to leave you becas well. The walk to the lake is magical.

    Judah2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We wish we could go back already!! Where to start?? Probably with the views because they are SPECTACULAR from all sides. The location is so serene and quiet, it was the perfect relaxing getaway for me, my fiance, and our dog. The bed and couch were both very comfortable and the artwork in the Casita was beautiful. We cooked all our meals for the weekend using groceries we bought in advance and the equipment and supplies in the Casita kitchen. We borrowed books from Beth's extensive library and even managed to catch a bit of Wimbledon on the small TV in the Casita. Beth was so knowledgeable about the area and provided helpful directions and recommendations. Her dog, Dakota, was also like one of the family. We absolutely loved our stay and would happily stay there again!

    Hanna2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • A most wonderful host with a kind and gentle personality. I especially enjoyed the welcoming card with Beth's gorgeous artwork and the flowers on the table. The home is very cozy with all the amenities needed for quiet, relaxing retreat. The Casita has the most amazing views! Large Anderson windows and doors to take in the beauty of the mesas surrounding Lake Abiquiu and Cerro Perdenal. Stepping outside, we were blessed to be able to see snow storms roll in from miles away, and take in the brilliant constellations in the evening. We were made to feel welcome and Beth was always available to answer any questions but was never intrusive. A basket filled with "things to do" is located at the entrance door, including books of hiking trails with post-it tabs for ease of find. Beth and Dakota gave us a touching farewell and we were already discussing our return before we made it to the highway.

    Mark2018-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • If being surrounded by a Georgia O’Keeffe painting is up your alley, look no further than Beth’s little house on top of the mesa. Wake up to views of Ghost Ranch’s red rocks and Abiquiu dam and fall asleep in the shadow of Pedernal. This cozy little house is perfect for an artist’s getaway or a hikers adventure. Ghost ranch and Abiquiu are 20-30 mins drive away. Beth is a sweet host, greeting me on arrival with a lovely card and her dog, Dakota. Definitely a return visit is in order!

    Amy2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • We lucked out finding this casita! It was a joy to spend our Christmas weekend here, de-stressing and recharging after a two-month long road trip. Great retreat space in a remote setting. The 360 views are as breathtaking as advertised. While we mostly stayed in, cooking and reading, we did have a chance to take a scenic walk, only a 15-minute drive away. There are many trails for the avid hiker and Beth is happy to give you great recommendations. She's a great host and fully understands the essence of cozy. Thanks again!

  • Remote adventurously decorated house, very peaceful environment. Everything was perfect the only thing was that the WiFi is a bit spotty in the main bedroom, but worked once in the living room. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • The casita is an absolute gem! From the heated bathroom floors and thoughtful touches/decor throughout to the outstanding view and the amazing hosts, this is by far the nicest Airbnb I’ve experienced. If I could move in, I would! I can’t recommend staying here highly enough!

    Jaclyn2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Great location, space and ambiance:) would definitely come back!!

    Eva2018-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of personal touches, such as a CD of the hostess' music as a gift; nice assortment of videos; amenity basket in the bathroom; heated bathroom floor. OK to bring more serious food to cook, as there IS a new outdoor drill that includes a space for a sauce pan as well. The host provides a very thorough list of local walks/adventures complete with directions on how to find them, and how long each might take. The decorations and overall decor are very well done in a small space. Lots of nice touches. We thoroughly enjoyed it - a quiet weekend getaway!

  • Sunflower Canyon Cassita is the best place to stay in Abiquiu!! You are close to everything!! Connie and Jesse have thought of everything for your comfort!! We wouldn"t think of staying anywhere else when we come back next year:)

    Janet2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Connie's place. Both her and her son Jesse were helpful and communicative. The location is very scenic, and it was perfect for us as we were visiting Ghost Ranch. We would go back!

    Stephanie2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the Casita! Connie and Jesse were very welcoming, and checked in a couple times to see if we needed anything. The house itself is gorgeous and exactly as described. The beds were super comfy and we all slept wonderfully. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

    Rachel2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Connie’s Sunflower Casita is a dream come true. My husband and I stayed here for 2 day’s while on a road trip and didn’t want to leave! This casita is beyond cute and Connie is such an amazing person. We highly recommend staying here on any journey, big or small.

I have a cozy 2-story home in Abiquiu, New Mexico. The home was built in '07, and overlooks Cerro Pedernal, the Sangre de Cristos and Jemez Mountains. The El Rito creek runs along the edge of our property and Chama River is less than 5 minutes away. We are within short driving distance of several hiking/ hot springs destinations including Plaza Blanca ("The White Place"), Ghost Ranch & Ojo Caliente Mineral Hot Springs + Spa. Animals welcome, as long as they're potty trained!
The house is simple and has all amenities. There is 1 bedroom upstairs with an outdoor deck (overlooking a great view of Cerro Pedernal), a full bath with jacuzzi, living room and kitchen. It's a quiet, serene space, with lots of lighting, windows and minimal design. Just 5 minutes from Plaza Blanca (the "White Place"), 25 minutes from Ghost Ranch, 30 minutes from Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Spa, 7 minutes to the little town of El Rito and near to countless hiking trails.
Abiquiu is known for its stunning landscape of red rocks, mountains, white canyons, pinyon pines, and diverse bird, plant and animal life.
  • This was a really wonderful place to stay. It was secluded enough that we could get some peace and quiet(and get some amazing star gazing done), but we were still only a short drive from a number of points of interest. Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, and more are nearby while you're less than an hour from Santa Fe. The space itself was cozy and the giant bathtub was wonderful. Aimee was a superb host and gave us some great tips about local restaurants and places to visit. I would absolutely recommend staying here and will happily do so again the next time I need some relaxation in the mountains.

  • "Best trip (Website hidden by Airbnb) how my niece described it. And indeed, it was an amazing trip and experience. We stayed 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. The cabin itself is charming and comfortable, with a stunning view of the valley and exactly as pictured. The owners provided everything you could think of and more- from toiletries to card games, they didn't miss a beat. Beds were the most comfortable we've slept in and rival a 5 star hotel. We were welcomed by a lovely note and snack basket upon arrival. The hosts responded within minutes of every message. You can definitely tell that the owners put a lot of love and attention to detail into making this cabin a very special place. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or are planning a family trip, this cabin is just perfect for making memories! We plan to make this an annual family trip, and look forward to visiting this magical place very soon! Thank you Bob and Janey!!!

    Cristina2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin and listing was just as promised and even better than hoped. It was very comfortable as Janey and Bob had anticipated everything, which makes it so much easier to relax. It is really a home, with the items provided for whatever you wanted to cook or do. We were able to rest, cook and enjoy the views as all we needed was right there. Wonderful. Communication with our hosts was quick, reliable and helpful at all stages. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable getaway, this would be your place. The position of the cabin on a hill provides wonderful outdoor views, which vary by day and even hour; better than tv, although that's available too! We were a group of 3 married couples who wanted to rest and also have plenty of time together. This was the perfect place. We had space enough when we needed personal time, but could comfortably cook together, play games and talk in varying arrangements. It is convenient to walk in the area as the dirt roads are not heavily traveled. There are opportunities for a variety of activities within 15 minutes. Chama has a good grocery store and several eateries/bars. Folks are very helpful and friendly. We were so glad to have been in this comfortable, fun and well-hosted home!

    Susan2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views and lots of outdoor space with tables and rocking chairs. Comfortable and well arranged indoor space. It was an excellent choice for our family weekend!

    Teresa2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect for what we needed it for. It was true to the pictures and we got what we expected.

    Lauren2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • A very pleasant cabin nestled in the rolling mountains of Chama, NM. 5 Stars across the board!! The cabin has all of the amenities one could ask for. The hosts are welcoming, friendly, and readily available to serve your needs/questions. If looking to stay in the area, you should seriously consider this home. Be sure and look at the photo books if you stay, the cabin has a unique upbringing!

    Phillip2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience renting this cabin was unfortunate. Our welcome was to a house that was not sanitary nor had been cleaned since the last renters. It was very disheartnening to arrive and have to vacuume and clean the house after a 15 hour drive. The floors, carpets and furnishing were unkempt. Because of the lack of cleanliness and vacuuming we did, one of our family members ended up getting an asthma attack. This continued through out the stay which led to us leaving earlier than anticipated and driving back home on Christmas Day. The downstairs refdridgerator still had used diet coke and the children’s room downstairs had empty beer bottles. We also ended up sleeping in the couch due to the spiders we kept finding in the sheets and in the childrens room downstairs. The house was infestated with flies and other bugs. We could not leave our drinks unattended if not we would find multiple flies in it. We all felt dirty being surrounded by insects and uncomfortable even eating at the house. Also, although having a furnished home is great, we found growing mold in the blender. After multiple findings and health concerns, we no longer felt safe in staying at the house. We feel it is unacceptable for owners not to ensure guest arrive to a clean and sanitary home.

    Gabriel2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, Bob and Janey were wonderful to deal with....secondly...oh that view!!!!! The cabin is furnished with love, decorated so very cute, and very enjoyable! You cannot go wrong with this cabin, unless stairs are a problem for you. They equipped the cabin with almost anything and everything you need. Just bring your clothes and food! We enjoyed the location because it was a fairly short trip to Chama, close to fishing, Bravo Cliffs, Heron Lake. Abundant wildlife. Great for a large family! The deck...oh my....oh that view!!!

Magnificent Rocky Mountain 3 story chalet is located at 7,600 feet elevation surrounded by spectacular 360 degree mountain views and beautiful national forests. Our private home is part of a 10,000 acre ranch. Designed for family and friends, everyone can relax in front of the grand 32 foot stone fireplace or the large outdoor jacuzzi while gazing at the spectacular scenic views. Our home is minutes away from the old southwestern quaint town of Pagosa Springs and close to Wolf Creek ski resort.
  • This place is certainly out in the country and the view is beautiful. The hummingbirds were great. There is great WiFi. The kitchen had everything you need. The hot tub never really worked and that was a bummer because that was the main reason we booked this house. We would stay here again if the hot tub worked.

    Kimberly2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely lovely. A bit away from town with gorgeous views. The interior has a homey, traditional cabin feel. It was super clean upon arrival, and the only issue was bugs that got in when doors were opened (which is to be expected and the cabin is equipped with a bug vacuum tool). The outdoor hot tub overlooking the mountains was the icing on the cake. Overall perfect getaway! I would highly recommend.

    Amy2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a GREAT stay- would be great during all seasons! My now fiancé and I stayed here the week of valentines, Ron was kind enough to leave flowers and a card! The hot tub is amazing with beautiful views, and the warm fire from the wood burning fireplace made it even better when you get out of the hot tub! We didn’t get the chance to meet Ron, but he sent over a few neighbors to check in on us throughout the week and he was just a phone call away if we had any questions. The house is about 20 minutes from the quaint town of Pagosa Springs, where you can enjoy the natural hot springs, etc. (not too far, but not too close to the hustle and bustle). Easy to find and we had the chance to enjoy watching a herd of elk each morning we were there! I would definitely recommend staying here, especially for a family or large group!

  • This is an ideal place to stay for large families. We had children from 2 to 10 with us and they had a great time playing on the large and interesting lot. The kids, especially the little ones, loved the boulders to climb on. Us parents really liked getting away and walking the perimeter of the property and enjoying all the mountain flowers. The drive to Pagosa Springs from the property is lovely and the house is in the San Juan National Forest so there is quick access to the forest.

Sky house is perched on a hill at the back of a beautiful canyon, on a private 43 acre property called "Moonglades". With 1 bedroom this is a perfect romantic get-away or spot to hang with a friend. Sit on the expansive deck and gaze at the enchanting northern New Mexico panorama, which is centered on Pedernal - Georgia O’Keeffe's beloved mountain. Just a few steps behind the house is a yoga platform and beyond that is Santa Fe National Forest. Sky house is 20 minutes from Ghost Ranch.
Moonglades is our beautiful private 43 acre property which has 5 homes and a finished barn. Sky House is situated on top of a hill at one end of the property and features an expansive, majestic view of Pedernal from up close and personal. Sky House itself is meant to be a comfortable dwelling with a lot of windows and views of nature from inside. It's a fairly new building and is decorated in a clean, simple manner with local details. On the deck there's a daybed and other comfortable lounging options, as well as an outdoor shower facing Pedernal and the sunset. It's the kind of spot where it's hard NOT to gaze at a wonderful view. We encourage you to explore Moonglades and the surrounding area. The views and access to nature invite exploration and engagement of many varieties. To help you ease into the flow of things we've strung hammocks around the property for you to discover and enjoy, provided a hill top yoga platform, a bocce ball court, and we even have a high powered telescope that is available upon request to marvel at the starry sky (the onsite caretaker will help operate if you need a hand). New Mexico has very low light pollution and fantastic star gazing opportunities. Finally, we have a brand new finished barn (concrete floors, full kitchen and bathroom) which you will have access to. You're welcome to bring your art supplies and set-up a mini-studio in the barn, do some yoga on a hot day (we have a few yoga mats), or just hang out in the cool air and read a book. [Please note - any parties or events will need advance permission and will be for an additional fee]. Of note: the only shower at Sky House is the outdoor shower (hot and cold water). The indoor bathroom has a nice soaking bathtub but no shower. You take indoor showers every day: live a little :)
Cañones is in the heart of Georgia O'Keeffe country. The spirit and views that inspired her artwork are bound to have an amazing effect on anyone who steps foot in this paradise. Moonglades / Sky House is adjacent to Santa Fe National Forest on 2 sides. Northern New Mexico is your oyster - use Moonglades as a launchpad, there are endless activities. (Though sometimes it's hard to leave) You will be: -12 minutes from Abiquiu Lake (fishing, water sports, swimming) -22 minutes from the town of Abiquiu which features the new Georgia O'Keeffe Welcome Center as well as Home & Studio Tour. Bode's General Store is also in Abiquiu. - 20 minutes away is Ghost Ranch (hiking, workshops, anthropology and paleontology museums, pool and massage). Just a few minutes past Ghost Ranch is a natural amphitheater which kids of all ages will love singing and yelling into. - 25 minutes away is Cerro Pedernal (a local landmark and popular w/ climbers and hikers). - The famous Plaza Blanca hiking area is 30 minutes away. - If you need a good hot soak after all of this hiking, painting and exploring, Ojo Caliente Mineral Hot Springs is a scenic 50 minute drive. -And seriously, Santa Fe National Forest is 30 feet from the house - The house is just over an hour from Santa Fe
  • Sky House is magical. The view of Pedernal is surreal, the stars at night are incredible from either the deck or the skylight in the bedroom. We can’t wait to come back.

  • The Sky House was a dreamy getaway for us. Katie and David payed close attention to adding small details to make this stay incredible, from the outdoor shower to the soaker tub with essential oil salts, everything was attended to. We loved exploring Lake Abiquiu and Santa Fe during the day and stargazing and enjoying the peace at night.

    Monica2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Sky House is just amazing, beautifully decorated, perfect size for 2, incredible deck overlooking stunning vistas/skies, wonderful outdoor shower and all the little details that makes the difference between good an excellent. We also loved the concept of the creative barn, what a great idea! Communication was easy and quick. It is definitively "the Valley of the Gods". Hope too be back soon. Thank you.

  • Amazing location - beautiful and remote. It was a treat as a retreat!

  • If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway, in an incredibly beautiful mountain setting, then The Sky House is for you! If you're looking for a wild, party house, go somewhere else. This is best for couples or a couple of friends who want to reconnect, get back to each other and nature. Or it's great for 1 person. It's the perfect escape from the daily grind where you can clear your head and recharge. The worst thing about Sky House is having to leave. It's a slice of Heaven on Earth. You wont be disappointed. • This is a special place for a remote getaway in NW New Mexico. You can’t find a space with more spectacular, panoramic views. The accommodations are both stylishly and comfortably appointed. We really enjoyed the special touches - the outdoor shower, large soaking tub, skylight over the bed for bedtime stargazing, record player with Brubeck album, etc, etc. The comfortable bed along with lots of extra blankets and towels ensured this was a cozy stay.

    Dawn2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This house is at the upper end of extraordinary property with a direct view of Cerro Pedernal ( Georgia O'Keefe's beloved mesa) and we felt so blessed to be there . The house itself is very well appointed down to every need, very complete kitchen with modern amenities throughout, big soaking tub, outdoor shower, Lounging on the huge deck watching the sunset and milky way was awesome . As described it is up mountain roads and not near groceries etc so a good place to plan a getaway and sink into the beauty, do art (great supplies made available), walk the land, and meet the friendliest dog alive. This would be such a great place to bring a group or have a workshop or event with the barn having a full kitchen, bath sleeping lofts ,and meeting space. Clearly the owners love this land and are planting and care-taking it beautifully.

    Gayle2018-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This property is absolutely gorgeous. The view is incredible, I didn’t want to leave! Can’t wait to stay there again.

  • We truly enjoyed our visit to Chama, and the house was perfect for our needs. Our two boys had plenty of room to play inside and outside (good sized fenced backyard). The furnishings were comfortable and everything was as-advertised. The grocery store in town was surprisingly well-stocked for the size, so making meals at the house was super easy (especially with the well-seasoned cast iron skillets!). The location was perfect as the house was within walking distance to the train station and several shops, and a short drive from hiking trails. Great experience overall!

    Amanda2015-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The home was accurately advertised and what we expected. We really enjoyed our stay, the home was clean and cozy and had everything we needed during for our stay. The location was perfect. Located in a lovely green quite neighborhood with a very short walk to the downtown area and train station. We spent the 4th of July holiday and were pleasantly surprised to see the front of the home decorated for the holiday which we found to be a great touch. The host left clear instruction and promptly responded to questions.

    Stephanie2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sherrie answered all our questions quickly. We loved that there were no extra charges when we became a group of 4 instead of 2.

  • I was very happy with the cute house in Chama. We rented it for a week and it was perfect for us. The house is welcoming. The kitchen was user friendly and we cooked five dinners there. There were two tvs with Dish network. The washer and dryer came in very handy. The house is cozy and very "chamaney".

    Kathleen2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place that is close to down town. No air conditioning but with the doors and windows open the house cools down nicely. Thank you for the enjoyable stay.

    Diana2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was comfortable and inviting. Loved hearing the train and neighborhood rooster in the morning. My husband and daughter were happy to have satellite and I was happy to have a washer and dryer readily available. Check in and out was super easy. All the amenities make this place a hidden gem in Chama!

This stunning getaway is located on the Chama River in Abiquiu. A tiny adobe room, which comfortably accommodates one, though two can squeeze in with the help of a trundle bed. It is in a compound containing an outhouse, outdoor hot shower over which the cottonwoods hang low, a well-appointed outdoor kitchen, a hot tub, and an infrared sauna. A few steps from the compound sits the deck on the river with a picnic table, a fireplace/grill, and a propane grill. Healing massage available.
The hut is simple, beautiful, and quiet. It sits in a compound under the cottonwoods next to the Rio Chama. Best for a single traveler, but a couple can fill the space by pulling out the trundle bed. The deck beckons you to the river for coffee in the morning. Book a healing massage before dinner. Watch the sunset from the deck in the evening. Sit in the hot tub under a canopy of burning stars. Let the sound of the river sing you to sleep.
A river in the desert under a canopy of cottonwoods. Red, white, and yellow cliffs, magical walks from your front door. Five minutes to the Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center, 5 minutes to the General Store, half an hour from Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, 15 minutes from Ghost Ranch, an hour from Santa Fe, 10 minutes to the lavender farm. Swimming, boating, fishing. Fifteen minutes to Abiquiu Reservoir.
  • She is an amazing host.

  • I greatly enoljoyed my stay. OroLynn was nothing if not a helpful and gracious host. The room is cozy, but big enough for my purposes. I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in Abiquiu.

  • Was a flying visit, arrived late afternoon & left before dawn so never met my host.Did manage to have a beer on the fantastic deck overlooking the river & watching sunset & new moon rise

    Alastair2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • OroLynn has created a special and enchanting place. I felt giddy when I first arrived and explored the outdoor kitchen, shower and sauna, and the dining area right on the river. It's all so beautiful, and though a little rustic, everything you could need is there. (But if it's not, OroLynn is extremely kind and thoughtful and will help you.) There are also many many beautiful places to visit a short drive away. I can't imagine a better setting for a stay in northern New Mexico!

    Jessica2016-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • OraLynn actually came and got me so I wouldn't be confused in the dark about how to get there.

    Sandra2016-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • I had a really great stay in the little hut! It has a beautiful location - right by the river, the atmosphere is something very special! OroLynn is a so pleasant, easygoing and helpful host! I wouldn't want to stay any other places, when I come back. I HAVE TO come back:-)

Located in one of the most beautiful spots in the world, The Casita del Lago vacation home provides a unique lodging experience in an unrivaled lakefront location. Guests from as close as Santa Fe and as far away as New Zealand have discovered this spot in paradise, and many of them return year after year. We look forward to welcoming you, also, to our family of guests and to being a part of your visit to our beautiful Abiquiu community.
The Casita del Lago (Little House on the Lake) is a custom adobe style home situated on 22 acres of lakefront property on Abiquiú Lake. We designed the home to be situated in the rocky shore above Abiquiu Lake, with spectacular views of the lake and Chama River, Ghost Ranch, Cerro Pedernal, and Carson National Forest. Our guests have described it as "the most beautiful place on earth", "nirvana" and "the best vacation rental home they have ever stayed at". It is a special place, on special land, where you can truly experience the beauty and peace of The Land of Enchantment. The home has two bedrooms, two baths, a full and modern kitchen, an open concept family room, desk area and dining area, fireplace and laundry facilities. Outside, you will find heated patios, amazing spots to sit and take in the views, a BBQ grill, a hot tub built into the rocks, a fire pit overlooking the arroyo, a hiking path to the lake, 22 acres to explore, and a lakefront cove perfect for fishing and swimming. If you have kayaks, launch them at the nearby boat launch. THE HOME With 1,100 square feet of living space your vacation home will comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. The hand-carved wooden doors lead you into the open concept living space with comfortable couches, a fireplace, a desk, and bookshelf with games, puzzles and books. You will be welcomed by the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake, the indigenous stone fireplace that warms the family room, and the authentic and comfortable furnishings. If you must, you can view cable TV on two high-definition TVs, use the complimentary WIFI or hook your phone up to the docking speaker system for music. The kitchen was remodeled in 2018 and is stocked with dishes, pots, pans, glasses, silverware, seasonings, spices and much more! The electric stove, refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave and dishwasher are all high-end and stainless appliances. A BBQ grill sits outside the sliding door on the back portal (patio). Enjoy your meals inside at a table for six that looks out onto the lake views or dine al fresco on the portal overlooking the lake. Or, be more adventurous and eat at the picnic table located amongst the rocks and trees. The two-bedroom suites are positioned at opposite ends of the home: the master has a king-sized bed, high-definition TV and ensuite bathroom and the guest suite has a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds with a shared bath. Luxurious linens, plush towels and amenities are stocked so you can enjoy a perfect vacation. Full size washer and dryers are in the home, along with laundry supplies. The home is like no other in terms of design and amenities. Imported granite countertops, custom handmade Spanish Pueblo arched doors, imported Mexican furniture, resort quality bedding and linens, authentic southwest lit niches, handmade Kiva lighting sconces, plastered interior walls, radiant floor heat, top rated appliances, indigenous rock wood burning fireplace, air conditioning, modern technology, and furnished outdoor living spaces. The east and west portals are attached with heated floors and one-of-a-kind views. The southern portal just off the kitchen offers warm, sunlit days in even the coolest high desert New Mexico temps. We subscribe to cable TV and the fastest Internet in the area - and both are offered to you free of charge. We also include firewood, laundry supplies, BBQ supplies and many spices/seasonings. Authentic southwestern art lines the walls – and every picture tells a story. We are proud to feature several works by local artist Brian Thomas who recreates Abiquiú vistas using rock. As wonderful as the home is indoors, it is just as amazing when you step outside. Lounge chairs facing the lake are the perfect spot for morning coffee. The outdoor table has an umbrella to provide shelter from sunny days. Chairs and a picnic table are located in various spots throughout the 22 acres. A six-person hot tub is nestled into the rocks overlooking the lake – a perfect spot for star gazing. As one of our guests said, “I’ve never seen stars like this or the Milky Way come to life”. Outside you can also enjoy the Stonehenge Fire Pit on the edge of the arroyo or enjoy the Chimenea on the portal. Explore the 22 acres of open spaces and settle in to one of the many outdoor seating areas. Hike down to the lake through arroyos. Bring your fishing poles, kayaks and canoes! Being lakefront property, we have our own cove at the water’s edge where you can swim, fish, explore or relax. SURROUNDINGS Literally, you will feel as if you have stepped into a Georgia O'Keeffe painting right from your doorstep! The home is located on 22 acres of private Abiquiú lakefront property in a gated community with lake access. The drive to the home with the incredible Sedona-like views is worth the trip in itself! You will be amazed at the views that surround you and you will want to wake up early just to witness the break of dawn. Then settle in for an afternoon siesta on one of the outdoor daybeds; or curl up to a book; go down to the water; start a gourmet meal; sightsee (if you must); horseback ride; photograph; hike the arroyos on your property; draw, paint, write, dream, and much, much, more. The location provides an absence of both noise and light pollution. The lakefront property provides guests with lake access for swimming, fishing, hiking - or bring your kayaks or boat to explore the lake. There is a cove at the shore on our property where our kids love to swim. The 6-person hot tub is nestled among huge rock boulders just off the western portal and it reserves its own spectacular views for itself, especially at night when the billions and billions of stars come out. For the more adventuresome, a short hike to the 'Stonehenge Firepit' at sunset for a spectacular outdoor viewing and nighttime fire atop the arroyo is a perfect setting for s’mores and your favorite ghost story.
ABIQUIU LOCATION We have a deep appreciation for the land and its history of this area - from dinosaurs, to Native American pueblos and cliff dwellings, to Spanish explorers, to cattle wrestlers, to ghosts and witches, to Georgia O’Keeffe - all the way to our current age where the past history and culture blends with the artist colony that Abiquiú has become. The home is conveniently located to Georgia O'Keeffe's Home and Studio, Ghost Ranch, Echo Amphitheater, Monastery of Christ in the Desert, Plaza Blanca, Cerro Pedernal, and the Carson National Forest. You will also want to explore the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm, whitewater rafting down the Chama River, horseback riding through O'Keeffe country, the Ra Paulette Cave Tour, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Pools, Native American pueblos, and other amazing sites. Plan easy day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Cumbres and Toltec Railroad, and Bandelier National Monument. Of course, we also have guests who choose to never leave the home, and believe – like we do – that the location of the home on 22 acres of lakefront property is the highlight of their trip.
  • My family and I enjoyed our time at The Casita tremendously! The home was well kept and well appointed, all the creature comforts but with a better view. Carol was very informative and very easy to work with. We highly recommend this beautiful home!

    Lila2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home with a breathtaking view.

    Nicholas2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Carol was a amazing host! Her property was truly incredible with breathtaking views and all the details that makes a comfortable home special. Everything we needed was there, our questions were answered, and the guide book to the property and area is all encompassing. If you are looking for a luxury stay in Abiqui, NM then this is your best bet- hands down. Seriously, it's an amazing experience!

    Cameron And Kiernan2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Well, just WOW! Carolyn, what a gem of a place you discovered, developed and now share with all of us. If you’re in to “out of the way”, Casita Del Lago is “out of this world.” Contrary to your suggestion, we ended up arriving at night, but your directions were perfect and led us right there. We were first met by the delicious silence and, come dawn, by the jaw-dropping views in all directions! The scenery is so dramatic, it’s hard to understand the silence that envelopes it, but it’s an emphasis, not a distraction. From day one we felt at home and were impressed with the amenities provided. We used Casita Del Lago as our “home” base for hiking and Ghost Ranch exploration by horseback and on foot. As one of your previous guests penned in the Guest Book, the Casita is so comfortable it makes it difficult to leave even to take in more of this magnificent area. Thank you for always being responsive when needed and we hope our travels will some day lead us back.

    Michael2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The home is exactly as pictured and was spotlessly clean on check in. The views are even more incredible than the pictures. There is a hot tub not far off of the patio area that provides a beautiful view while you are relaxing. Carolyn was helpful in sending information before our stay and was very friendly. The house is far off the beaten path and as such provides a peaceful space to enjoy views that are unadulterated by anything else. However, the television and WiFi were well functional and the home feels lush and comfortable. The house is about 35 minutes from Ghost Ranch which seems to be as close as possible without staying on site. I would recommend this Home and would recommend hiking at Ghost Ranch while in New Mexico.

    Emily2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Casita del Lagos offers the most secluded and inspiring way to experience the beauty and serenity of northern New Mexico. Four of us spent five days quietly celebrating our 60th birthdays together. We hiked and swam and made several day trips to the surrounding areas, but mostly sat engrossed by the constantly changing colors of the lake and cliffs that are in full view from all the living areas. As you can tell from the photos, this is a beautifully imagined and decorated space. The kitchen was furnished beyond all expectations and full of little things such as spices and condiments and a variety of non-perishables. The hosts have compiled a large reference book for guests that anticipates and answers every possible question as well as listing all sorts of information about local shopping, dining, attractions and activities, complete with contact information and hours. And when I had a question that didn't seem to be answered by what we referred to as The Book, I emailed the host and received a rapid and helpful reply. Don't be put off by the lengthy drive in--you will be rewarded with the quietest nature experience of your life. If you are a fan of nearby Ghost Ranch, the Casita offers all of the same beauty plus the quiet solitude we were seeking. There were so many different places to sit and absorb the peaceful majesty of the area's stunning red rocks and the majestic Sierra Pedernal--I almost don't want anyone else to know about this amazing retreat because we plan on returning again and again and would love to selfishly keep it to ourselves. But if you're looking for a Southwestern experience to top all others, this is the place to stay.

  • The Abiquiu lake house and its setting are stunning and magical. I have no criticisms whatsoever, only the highest praise. Great host, comfortable furnishings, incredible views......hope to return.

    Jill2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • So many positive things have been written about the casita, so I’ll just say that it is all true!!! Perfect place for a secluded getaway. I will point out one major advantage - the proximity to the lake. You can take a very short stroll down to dip your feet and spot some wildlife in and above the water. Carolyn was a terrific host. Communication was excellent, and she sent us so many tips for activities in the area, which we never got the chance to do since we didn’t want to leave the casita :) :) :)

The house is great for a family or active, fit people but could pose a challenge for older adults or people with mobility or visual disabilities to navigate safely. Price was very reasonable.

  • Sara was amazing and in constant contact with us as we made our 14hr drive to Chama. She was at the property when we arrived and showed us around everything and provided everything a hotel would have plus some. I would highly recommend staying at this property especially in the winter.

  • Wonderful, well-stocked, convenient old house. Great place for relaxing with family.

  • Sara's home in Chama was a really conveniently spot to downtown and the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic train, all within walking distance. The house is old as Sara mentioned, reminded me of my first home when I was growing up, but we got cozy after a bit. My daughter and son in law and kids came by and we enjoyed sitting in the kitchen visiting. The stairs to the entry and upstairs can be a challenge for anyone with walking disability and kids.

  • Sara's home in Chama was a really conveniently located spot for our two day fishing trip in the Chama area. We weren't on the railroad, but it's only a block walk to the station. Also close to several restaurants and bars. We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with dishes and cookware. There is also a TV with DVD player that came in handy. Lovely home- we enjoyed our stay!

This gorgeous house is a secluded 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom country home with private pond nestled in the base of the stunning Canones Creek Valley. Relax on the porch or dock and enjoy sprawling views of 75 private acres of magnificent mountain valley.
  • The Elk Meadow house was lovely! It has everything you would need. The scenery and elk watching were amazing. My family had a wonderful trip! Elizabeth was very responsive through the process.

  • Wow! The online pics don't do this location justice! This quaint farmhouse has a million-dollar view of the mountains and Elk Meadow, which definitely earned its name with the number of elk that we saw. The home was clean with great appliances and was very tastefully furnished. Thank you so much for letting us stay. It was a great change of pace for our family.

  • Perfect in every way. Beautiful inside and out. The house is more spacious than we expected and has every amenity you will need to feel right at home.

  • What a beautiful getaway! This place was perfect for our small get-together with friends. The pond was chilly but refreshing, the house was well-stocked and we had a blast paddling around in the kayak. Our kids loved running through the grass, catching minnows and tiny frogs (all humanely cared for and re-released). The second day of our stay it rained in the afternoon. Watching the rain fall from the hammock on the wrap around deck as a bright double rainbow appeared was simply magical! We would love to return in the future.

  • Just stayed here for the weekend and had an amazing time. My wife and I have stayed at several great rentals through airbnb but this one has topped our list of favorites. We hope to come back regularly since we loved it so much and it's less than 3 hours from our home in Albuquerque. Elizabeth was great to deal with. She was always quick to reply to communications. She was also nice enough to make a change to our reservation at our request and without hassle. The pond was one of the highlights since we came here in the summer. The water is cold but was perfect for lazing about on pool inflatables. Floating around enjoying a beer was great. Tossing frisbees to each other from our floaties was a blast too. The pond was also bigger than it appeared in photos. We had planned a recreational trip to nearby Heron lake during our stay, but enjoyed the pond so much that we opted to skip it and stick with the pond instead. Also enjoyed beautiful views from the house's porch. Saw several deer in the meadow by the house. A couple of us caught a brief glimpse of a beaver swimming through the pond. We would have liked to explore some of the 75 acres the house is situated on but never did. The house itself was beautiful, clean, and well supplied with essentials and cookware. There were 7 of us altogether and it was plenty big and comfortable for our group. We brought in all the food/supplies we needed for the weekend and never had to leave the house. If we had, Chama has a grocery store 10 min. away. It was a perfect stay that we won't soon forget.

  • Our family get together (ages 3 to 76) had a wonderful time at Elk Meadows. The opportunities for non electronic entertainment were amazing. The house is even equipped with rainy day activities. Beautiful scenery --- rain clouds and lightning descending over the mountains, deer and elk crossing the meadow, red winged blackbirds flying between the trees and fish jumping in the pond. We set up the feeders for the hummingbirds and were entertained all day by the Rufus birds trying to keep the other humming birds away. Restful reading on the porch, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and napping --- what more could anyone want? Wifi was available but was rarely used. The best vacation!

  • We had an absolutely amazing time at Elk Meadows. The house is lovely and the property is incredible. Elizabeth was SO helpful and accommodating. If you are looking for a place to spend a holiday weekend with a large group, or want a secluded place to have a relaxing retreat, I can't recommend Elk Meadows enough. Thank you, Elizabeth, for making our weekend celebration so memorable! We can't wait to come back!

  • Elizabeth was a wonderful host and was responsive any time I contacted her. She gave us good information and we had an easy time getting around. Elk Meadows worked perfectly for our small family weekend vacation. The kitchen was fully stocked and we had an easy time preparing several meals. The house is well described and we were very comfortable. The elk and the birds around the property gave us such entertainment and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I can’t remember being in such a relaxing and beautiful place and I established myself as a hero to my family.
